Everytime I wanted to watch the film, right before the menu would come up I'd call either my mum, dad or sister to come and press play while I ran out the room XD
Oh fucking hell.... I forgot about how much I loved this movie, and then I remembered the dvd menu and I got such flashbacks Sometimes I loved to just watch the menu before watching the film, the house was so amazingly designed especially with the animations included, the sound effects and the film score. It all just came together so well, i remember this menu always hyped me up before starting the film. This is probably the best dvd menu of my childhood, it's sad that new kids won't be able to experience this kind of stuff because of streaming services taking over...
I used to be scared of this movie when I was a kid, but by now I know it’s a horror movie for younger audiences, and at first I knew it’s a haunted house but the whole house is actually alive and makes faces XD
No... just no. This movie was perfect by itself, the story is complete. How could they even have another house that's alive? ANOTHER dead wife? No that would be repetitive and unneeded.

I was scared of that monster house I was a little girl and I remember at night time watching the main menu it's scaring me give me the creeps and I cover up myself with a cover. I just don't like it's scary face.😨😨😨😦😦😦😓😓😓
I remember every time I pressed "play" I was preparing for the fucking scariest shit I ever saw as a child 🤣, the worst part was the bells, still gets me today 🤣
It’s 2 am and you just woke up out of your sleep to this, you have no cable, and the spongebob movie dvd is sitting next your tv. Your scared shitless this thing is gonna drag you into the tv screen. What’s your next move?
Once upon a Time when I was I don't know how old I was. It was late at night and I guess I fell asleep while watching this movie. I remembered when I woke up all I could do was just stare at this menu screen as I was afraid it was going to jump scare me cuz that would always scare me. It's so funny to look back at this again. Another thing I remembered was everytime when I press the play button I would have to run out of my room because how scared I was I press it, once again, looking back at this now I find it pretty funny how young me was scared of this menu screen
Ean GS Yerbic If when i hit play movie the carpet tongue came out of the screen I'd be like "NOPE! NOT HAPPENING!!"! And run for the remote so I can turn it off
I don't know why, but I wasn't even scared of the movie itself growing up, even though Nebbercracker freaked me out a little whenever they showed a close-up of his face. I was actually scared of the DVD menu that shows the house looking at you ominously with those two glowing window eyes while heavy breathing can be heard. What's worse is that the menu has a jumpscare of the house roaring at you angrily. I remember having nightmares of that menu because whenever the house reveals its true form as it sprouts tree-like legs, it would transform into an even more hideously grotesque hellish abomination that would slowly crawl out of my TV to try to kill me.
You know those therapy places where they play a movie or whatever but turns out that it was just a dvd? Welp one day it was this and as soo as i saw the house be sentient i just knew that i had to get outta there (my goofy ahh dad was with me by the way and the therapy wasn't for me this time)
Even though the menu is scary, I find it interesting that the menu is mainly taking place just around the house.
This is the closest thing you can give to a child to introduce them to horror
Then if they handle it pretty well make them watch coraline
This menu use to scare me more than the actual movie itself when I was a kid.
RIGHT?! It was Scary!
Same.
Yeah. I remember the house went crazy briefly when I left it idle
@@Darkchao_berserko22 that used to terrify me, I was quick to play the film after that 😂😂
Same.
I remember how back then my sister and I both ran out screaming out of our room when the house jump scared us
Me and my sister would hide behind the couch
Everytime I wanted to watch the film, right before the menu would come up I'd call either my mum, dad or sister to come and press play while I ran out the room XD
That menu was scarier than the movie itself
That's just like the Michael Jackson Thriller title card
Thank you! You took the words right out of my mouth! 😂
Oh yeah? Well the scariest thing I saw about this movie is when TJ and Chowder first saw the house alive and angry as it tried to eat the two kids.
💯
I agree

3:32 jumpscares before jumpscares were even a thing
Jumpscares were a thing before 2006
I Don't Like Birds yes but they weren't a big thing until the 2010's
When I was little I actually wasn't scared of this menu but the one thing that creeped me out back then was that doorbell.
3:32 When I finally got this on DVD the menu from once you hit Play the house looks like it eats you alive which made me go like "OH CRAP!"

3:39 You Can Actually Hear Togera From War of The Monsters Roaring!
You know, i kinda wish they made a sequel to this movie.
You're not alone... I also to see if they would make Monster House 2 🏠👹
No... just no.
This movie was perfect by itself, the story is complete. How could they even have another house that's alive? ANOTHER dead wife? No that would be repetitive and unneeded.
I love this movie but it doesn’t need a sequel. A retelling maybe in a decade but no sequel.
@@jackbluehq6653 Well, instead of another wife, a serial killer would work.
The 2nd wouldn’t be as good it’s a whole different cast
This menu scared the living shit out of me when I was a kid
Seina Kimura same
I'd be going to get some popcorn, and it randomly gives that monster pissed off look.
Omg whenever it roared randomly on the main menu, it would scare the living heck out of me.
Why would they show something like this?
Same too when I was 5 or 6
I remember me and my friends were so scared of this we would press the play movie button and run out of the room

Remote: Play the film again or pick a random option

yes, its a kids film with a good message. Its just a bit creepy and is meant to be watched at Halloween.
A polite English tea-drinking gentleman. Cool
Well it depends on if everyone in the family likes watching it or doesn't mind scary movies
Also it's said in a commercial that it was the number 1 movie of the year in 2006 and critics gave it thumbs up but I can't quite remember
