Middle weight bikes are the way to go for me. Nimble, loads of power and you really don’t need any more for the road. I own a 675 triple and it is a joy.
After riding 1000's going back to a 600 felt pointless to me. All of the downsides of sportsbike riding position on the road, with zero fun of the torque. All that noise, for what felt like slow motion lol Always thinking "I'd rather be riding a supermoto than this".. way more fun ringing the neck of one of those. Couldn't wait to give the 6r back tbh 😂
I’m 55 years old and 3 stone over weight I bit the bullet and bought a 2024 ZX10R and it’s surprisingly comfy on top Yes my legs are high but not once have I had to stop for aches on the wrists. I love it. Would recommend Kawasaki sports bike for anyone who wants one
Oh man, I am so, SO happy some of us are still interested in old school 600cc screamers!! None of this parallel twin nonsense. Keen to see the Kawi (my personal favourite) take on the new Honda. I reckon the baby blade has more tech, but traditionally I've always been drawn to Team Green because of the extra 36cc and the larger dimensions of the bike. Can't wait for the comparison! Well done fellas.
Im normally a Honda girl, but I've put a deposit on a zx6r anniversary edition. Going to pick it up soon. I love the kawasaki, it's a brilliantly fun machine and made me smile during the demo ride. I rode the performance edition back to back with the 2024 cbr600rr last week. The kawasaki has more low and mid range power than the Honda. And the throttle is more responsive. The bike is larger than the Honda and taller. The Honda has a nicer quick shifter and gear box. It felt very, very hot through the seat for me, which was a deal breaker. I also kept hitting the horn by accident when indicating, which was annoying. The kawasaki was just more fun and versatile for me for the road. I can't wait to get my new zx6r!
I just bought a Kawasaki ZH2 SE and my mate got a Ninja 1000sx and we both agree Kawasaki have got the fueling and smoothness brilliant on there bikes at the moment
After recently buying another liter bike, and kind of regretting it. I do feel that the smaller displacement, lighter weight bikes are the way to go for the street. More engaging, more smiles. As Ive recently heard another TH-cam motor Vlogger say. “It’s more fun to ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow” Still having my old 650 dual sport, It does put a bigger smile on my face taking that out versus the liter bike
Great review Greg! I've got 3x 600cc bikes.. Zx6r,Gixxer,Daytona 675.. None of them has a blipper, ABS and so on. And I don't miss it at all! I'm the auto blipper 😂😂 The Daytona has a quick shifter which is great for track days. My Gixxer is my daily with 80K miles on it and it's faultless.. You really don't need liter bikes to have fun. And they are plenty fast for the road. They also use less tires, chains and brakes, more economical.
Thanks to you and to El Chopsie for your videos. I enjoy them all. Used to live in the Costwolds 35 years ago and I loved riding all your roads. They are all special in their own way.❤ Just to date myself. Bought new in 1983 my first sport bike GpZ550A1 from George White Honda Kawasaki in Swindon. Tracy his daughter sold it to me Galaxy Silver. Thanks for all you do.
I've always had a soft spot for the ZX6, having owned one of the previous earlier models. That machine was flawless and one of the quickest point-to-point machines I've owned, including some of the liter bikes I've had. So glad to see this return. Awesome job, Greg. Love it. ❤👍
I rode one of these a few months ago when my Ninja 1000sx was in for a service. First thing I noticed was how uncomfortable it was but after 5 minutes got used to it and for the next hour had a blast. This and the CBR600 are good value. I paid over £7000 for my GSXR600 new back in 2005! When you considered 1000cc bikes are now 20 grand plus and the new ZX4RR isn't that much cheaper either than one of these.
Come to think of it my 2000 GSXR600K1 was also over £7000. 24 years ago 600s have only gone up just over 3 grand. Seriously thinking of getting one for track days and Sunday basts. Now if only Suzuki would bring back the GSXR600 for the same price.
I got a 2011 600 not the 636 and it has a map and it is so smooth and fantastic to ride. ive owned it for for 5 years and still puts a big smile on my face
I have a veteran 93 zzr600, and I love it, doesn't even have abs 😂 fast enough for me, and dirt cheap to own. Nice to see they still make some without too much tech 😅
Nice one Greg , nice looking wee bike, more than enough for the roads as you say , your getting good at this talking to yourself riding 😁😁😁 Kawasaki has to be in the green .Great stuff Greg .👍
One of the best channels on TH-cam imho made better by the introduction of Gregorio to the masses 👍🏻 well done guy’s now carry on that man Caio for now tat ta 👍🏻
I owned a 2004 fazer 600 when I was 21 and kept it until I was 39 and I loved it the garage I brought it from said it had the r6 map don’t know if it was true but it was a whole lot of fun and very flickable. These 600s are so much fun
A very fair assessment Greg, well done! Kawasaki just keep knocking out absolute bangers, this one is no exception. It's great to see that they still have passion for machines like this. Your enthusiasm for the bike demonstrates just how good it is 👍
So glad to see this review! I tried this bike in US a month ago as a part of a demo ride. I was very impressed and surprised even. I am riding 848 evo and love this aging horse, low end torque of it deals with traffic very nicely. On slower speeds zx6r felt very capable, exactly as you mentioned, I could not test it on the higher speeds though. Very engaging, dynamic and polished, as some fellow rider who sampled it joked: “it makes you want to do bad things”. 😂
How refreshing.. a sports bike with minimal electronics, sophisticated engine and beautiful colour scheme.. great little revue and riding like it was meant to be. Criticism? Too flippin quiet
Am a real fan boy, of yester year, the ZX6R and I go way back. I had one of the first in the country in 1995. Had 6 others since. If I lived in the UK now, this would have been my 7th! ZX6R Not appropriate in Thailand!!! Cheers Greg, enjoyed that review
Kinda disagree mate ,,, I own a 2022 ZX-6R in Thailand,.. I find it very usable for Thailand's roads, but I can say this is the maximum bike you CAN use in Thailand..... anything more than the ZX-6R is overkill indeed.
i think if i had a bike with a blipper id probably disable it anyway, "up" quickshifters are fun and sound awesome but rev matching is part of riding a bike. Just my opinion of course.
A glowing review from sporty Greg 👍🏻 I'm sure I read the gearing had been lowered, pick up is more important than a handful of mph above 150 ....especially on a 600 class.
When you consider how many people just ride these, no maintenance done and they outlast many other brands - it’s a no-brainer decision for the budget..!!
I went from a Zx6r to Yamaha r6, then to a s1000rr. Having had them, I 100% agree that the middleweight sport bikes are the way to go. The liter bikes are too much and unusable on the road - kind of regret trading my r6 in for an s1000rr, which is crazy to say.
I wonder if Suzuki may reconsider reviving the GSXR 750. Surely, they could make it emissions compliant. They were great bikes, barely any heavier than 600's but with 30 extra BHP and a fair bit more torque.
Still riding my 1999 G2 T reg as my main road bike and it’s never let me down. Had some puncture issues over the 25 years of ownership but no complaints. I’ve had lots of bigger bikes piss past me over the years on a very straight road and then it takes determination to catch up but that’s life. That Tom boy a bit has been putting your intro music on her channel the clutch less Honda review sort her out mate 😂😂
Do those little cut outs that Kawi put on the side of the windscreen make a noticeable difference at motorway cruising speeds? I've noticed they do that to all their sport bikes and have always assumed it was to reduce wind buffeting but I've never heard it mentioned or discussed during a review, which is surprising.
I got better check this out..am still cruising wit my year 2000 cbr honda fireblade 929RR 70000 miles on the clock it still kickin a$$..i aint sellin it at all thats my baby
Better without a quick shift or down clipper in my opinion, I got a k5 Gsxr 1000 and it’s satisfying when braking hard and manually down blipping, especially when you get it just right 👌🏻 but I’m old school now I guess (56)
Nice little vid. I'm really glad they've made a comeback too. It makes sense as well with the 1000cc's being so expensive & bordering on unusable on the road now. However, for me it's the comfort or lack of that's the only but significant issue. I've had several supersports before & I struggled at times in my 20's with my wrists & shoulders so these would ruin me now. Although, never say never! If Suzuki bought the GSX-R 600 & preferably the 750 back, I would be very very tempted. Looking forward to the comparison with the CBR which has been selling really well apparently.
Very nice machine, am actually considering switching out my super duke for one of these. Recently picked up a gs and the engines are similar so want to maybe switch out the v twin for a triple or i4 sport bike. Great video, keep it going!
For someone to say the bike can handle the horrific surface of titchfield lane means the suspension is bloody good! I nearly lost my teeth on that road on my Rsv mille r 😂
I wish manufacturers were allowed to make bikes louder from the factory. The stock bikes are so quiet that a lot of younger riders overcompensate and get a comically loud exhaust, which borders on obnoxious when riding through residential areas. If bikes were louder from the factory I think a lot of people would be happy with a more moderate volume.
Only in my 50s so these are my bag. When I can’t ride these it will be the slide into a SUV bike but not yet please. Thank you for this great video. Tried a 1000 and I can’t ring the neck of one on the road or the track.
Got a test ride of this bike recently, having never ridden a real sports bike before, and its got me questioning everything! If i didnt need a decent pillion seat, I'd have probably already traded my tracer 9 in for one 😅 so much fun to ride.
I used to have an N reg ZX6R F2 a little bit nutty but could be utterly civilised as well, does this new one just go through the red line like it's not there, like my old one did. Howling ram air included in 2024?
I had a 2019 ZX6R and the powerband is very linear. It never hit a point in the RPM's where it went crazy, it pulled hard from 4,000 RPM's all the way to the redline ( I had a 2013 600RR HRC and about 10,000 RPM it had an extreme powersurge ) I put 27,000 miles on the ZX6R and it was still rock solid when I sold it last month and would have trusted it to ride it anywhere.. I sold it because I'm 51 years old and discovered i have Ulcerative Colitis about 6 months ago.. So there went my Supersport bike riding days 😞Oh well you can't stay young forever, but is does help if you can ride a Supersport 😉
I miss the 750cc class. It was perfect, back in the day. The 600's are probably better than they were. My shoulders and back would not put up with the bar position. Thank you for the impression.
I’m interested in both the cbr600 and zx6r. But the price difference between the two here in Australia is massive. The Kawasaki is $18,000 brand new and the Honda is listed at $28,000!! That’s on point with a new BMW S1000rr.
do you need a steering damper for this? As far as I see if the bike is in good condition it's not prone to wobble, tank slappers usually starts when one of the parts start to fail like the suspension, bearings or just wrong tyre pressure... but correct me if I'm wrong
I really like your summary and looking forward to the comparison with the Honda. During the ride you didn't mention anything about the heat, would you say there isnt an issue? Also a few times you mentioned great bike for the road, would you say its not really suitable for the track? Cheers
Thanks a lot! There was no heat from the engine, including quite a bit of slow town riding so no issues there. As for a track bike, it would be absolutely ideal so if that’s your intended purpose, go for it. I was also impressed as to how good a road bike it was as well so, all in all, it’s very versatile 👍
My 97 srad 600 is still more than enough for road use. Above 6 grand its jail speeds generally. The abs is a good thing on modern bikes (I also have 2020 KTM duke) but I wouldn’t really need anything else. What’s your favourite 600 ?
I’ve only tried the ZX6R and the CBR600RR to be honest, but out of the two of these, I prefer the Kawasaki. It’s close though as the Honda is also very good. Cheers
How is this compared to a Daytona 675? Have a 2012 Daytona and like it, a lot. A bit worried about its age. No road usage, only have it as a track bike.
my my . looks and sounds good.I had an 06 636 .wish i could have kept it but had a 1k as well so kept that. Its got a blipper on the downshift but has thottle cables.Hows that work?
I think these new 600's are probably the way to go nowdays 😮 but I would buy a zzr400 today if they re introduced that to UK, I sold my 2020 one a few months back for h2sx although h2 is a great bike I really regret selling the zzr1400 nothing gets of the line like one of these, exept maybe triumph rockets but the zx wheelies well😅 that said I have always liked smaller capacity bikes for fun 😁 and find kawasaki the most comfortable sport bikes and auto blipers never seem to be smooth unless your caining it 😂
Middle weight bikes are the way to go for me. Nimble, loads of power and you really don’t need any more for the road. I own a 675 triple and it is a joy.
I had a triple and it was pretty good but I wanted more powers. Got stolen and now I have no powers lol.
Yep, don’t really need anymore for the track
But its fucking amazing to ride a demon. Who cares you dont realy need anymore for the road. Ill take both thank you
After riding 1000's going back to a 600 felt pointless to me. All of the downsides of sportsbike riding position on the road, with zero fun of the torque.

Grateful for the insight George thanks very much. And sorry to hear about the condition, hopefully not put an end to all your riding 🙏
I want one of these but the insurance quote was crazy high compared to a cbr650r
That is crazy! The CBR is slightly cheaper in the UK 🤷♂️
Now we just need Suzuki back to the party, and Triumph to give us a new Daytona (a proper one)
do you need a steering damper for this?
Nice bike glad these supersports are still around. Can’t wait for the shootout comparo as the bike rags used to say 😊
Is it really a cable throttle or just a cable to the TPS? Which Honda do very successfully.
I think Kawasaki did the right thing with this bike; keep the bike basic and keep it affordable.
Totally agree 👍
My 97 srad 600 is still more than enough for road use.
Above 6 grand its jail speeds generally.
The abs is a good thing on modern bikes (I also have 2020 KTM duke) but I wouldn’t really need anything else.
What’s your favourite 600 ?
I’ve only tried the ZX6R and the CBR600RR to be honest, but out of the two of these, I prefer the Kawasaki. It’s close though as the Honda is also very good. Cheers
At last sensible bike that can be ridden and not swapped by electronics,, good money be hard to overlook ,,☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland,,
How is this compared to a Daytona 675? Have a 2012 Daytona and like it, a lot. A bit worried about its age. No road usage, only have it as a track bike.
@12:51 WAIT!? chopsy wasnt talking the entire video!? i just noticed...
Joking.
my my . looks and sounds good.I had an 06 636 .wish i could have kept it but had a 1k as well so kept that. Its got a blipper on the downshift but has thottle cables.Hows that work?
Not for me, i'm simply to big (and fat and old) to get any comfort, but i enjoy the vid noneteless
Magnifique moto 🏍
A Blipper is a must for this kinda bike I’d say…at least for something in 2024
More features
More to pay
Then the crying starts, too...
Yeah definitely, if u dont know how to blip yourself 😂
I think these new 600's are probably the way to go nowdays 😮 but I would buy a zzr400 today if they re introduced that to UK, I sold my 2020 one a few months back for h2sx although h2 is a great bike I really regret selling the zzr1400 nothing gets of the line like one of these, exept maybe triumph rockets but the zx wheelies well😅 that said I have always liked smaller capacity bikes for fun 😁 and find kawasaki the most comfortable sport bikes and auto blipers never seem to be smooth unless your caining it 😂
What do you reckon is the better overall "daily" sport bike, the zx6r or gsxr750?
Having owned a GSXR750 (which was brilliant too), I would say there’s really not much in it. Both great road sports bikes 👍
