That's good to hear because I usually feel like a crazy person ranting at people about fisheries issues 😆 😂 . I mean we'll but I know to folks that are new to all this it's a bit of a tinfoil hat kind of approach.
Great info and I am absolutely going to try to make it out! We’ve gotta make some noise to push things in the right direction! Appreciate you making these videos Brewski!!
Thank you Steve for the continued effort to inform and align those of us who do want to be a part of the decision making on the best approach to manage the sea trout fishery. I didn't read all of the study but I read key parts and better understand the basis for each aspect of the original recommendation. They considered a lot of factors including fish growth rate to ensure that the recommendation really ensures that there is a stable if not improving population of spawning fish.
I am an avid trout fisherman. I'm also in the minority in thinking commercial and recs can thrive with the correct leadership and laws. I also want to thank you for keeping us informed and for fighting the good fight. Hopefully I'll see you soon! Thanks again for all you do and tight lines!!
Thanks for all your doing for me and my daughters as recreational fishmen, the country would be a better place with more people like you! Not just saying that because i want the reel for my kid either 😂 if we dont all start sticking together and standing up for our god given rights the government will take them all just as a way to pay more taxes
I truly appreciate all the information that you gave us about status of our inshore fishery on both sides and we need to do everything to make it all equal not just one-sided and I hope this upcoming meeting they will see this have a good sense to manage it correctly thanks Perrin L 👍🏻🎣🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks Brewski for your dedication to NC recreational fishing. I’ve been an avid kayak fisherman on Hatteras Island since 2016 and a resident since 2007. I currently have 3 years working in the recreational fishing industry. I regularly share your TH-cam channel with people for them to get informed on what is going on. I take heat from the commercial fishermen just for creating discussion.
It's a different world up there, man. I really appreciate your efforts, and it does a lot more than you think. To get the ball rolling, people just need to hear some of the facts repeated a few times before it starts to sink in.
The closure will definitely hurt business. People want to take a couple fish home at least. I would give my quota up no problem, but the commercial guys have to give it up as well and have a lb quots on what they can keep as well.
Apes together, STRONG!! 😄 Really though, all the noise is what makes our po l itical leaders turn away. If we unify, we can really flip this on it's head.
I agree strongly that more people need to show up to these meetings, and like a couple people have mentioned in the comments need to try and talk to the people about keeping the Nets out of these Creeks during the winter, great job and thanks for the info let's all keep this going, so everyone old to young can have a chance to catch these fish
Unfortunately, there is little to nothing to be done to stop netting in the creeks by MFC as those areas are all WRC territory. Please feel free to reach out to your local WRC enforcement and apply some pressure asking them to send someone to check the creeks. Male sure you know there is a tally netting going on though and that it's inland waters and not coastal which are legal to net.
It's going to take a lot more than just me! We all have to stand up for what's right. Swing by the meeting if you can and if you can't, please sub to the channel so you can help us submit some public comments online in the future
Giving the commercial industry a set quota should satisfy the coms. Closing the season as early as possible for commercial will prevent netting in the back of creeks in the colder months. Better boundaries need to be created and enforced to give the Recs areas of their own and to protect the fish. The boundaries at the Pamlico and Neuse rivers are great examples of that. Thanks for your tremendous efforts, you’re doing a great job.
Are you related to Andy? Also, I 100% agree. I fish New River and we also have a place in Bath. The ferry line closure has brought about a dramatic change in that river. The comm folks are been fitting greatly as well in the long run.
Appreciate you taking time to post this and other videos that help inform us (and help us know where/how to engage with decision makers that are driving policies that affect us).
Brewski, I agree with you 100% Coming from a commercial fishing family and my wifes family as well, I appreciate the fact that you are fighting for both side's and you are, I feel being fair about the issue and quota. The flounder is out of control and definitely needs to be fix. I feel that the DMF is a waste and that NC Wildlife should control all waters !!!
@FishingwithBrewski No sir. There are plenty of Fulchers around, but we all do not come from the same DNA. My crowd are from Atlantic and Stacy NC. The Newbern Fulchers are not a part of us.
It's hard to talk about this stuff without getting a reaction from both sides. Talked to at least 100 people, and I learn so much. Our state is so big and complex that trying to manage fisheries is legitimately impossible without the input of a lot of comm folks.
Thanks Stevo! I won't be able to make it on a Weds due to my schedule at work and church. Appreciate you keeping us informed and breaking everything down for us.
You'll have to wait and see. Comment numbers are low overall so looks like you'll have better than a 1:100 chance!! That's about 386 million times better than lottery odds 😄
Have really enjoyed your channel and being an advocate for all the people who fish in N.C. Certainly is a delicate issue but the bottom line is we need to have a balance that will allow all North Carolinians to have a viable opportunity to catch fish in our coastal waters. Great job of keeping us up to date with what is going on in our fishing industry. 👌
The only way nc fisheries will ever have an opportunity to become anything of former years; do away with inshore trawling & gill netting... Commercial hook & line only for any species... Mullet, shrimp, etc... cast net
There's a well known story about how the "hot ditch" in VA died. The guy who did the majority of the damage to that fishery got caught because his boat was about to capsize from the weight of the fish. Story is that someone called because they thought he was in need of assistance.
Thank you for fighting the good fight. I won't be able to make the meeting as I live 5 hours away. There are a lot of people west of 95 who care a great deal about our coastal fisheries.
No, and I hate the idea of doing something for one and not the other, but adaptive mgmt will jump in if rec continues to overfish. Locking in quota will protect comm and then we can further restrict rec when and where we need to.
I would love to be at the meeting but am unable to due to schedule conflicts. Do you think it would be beneficial to write a letter? Any chance a short, to the point letter could be read at the meeting? I'm guessing not, but I'd love to support in some way.
You can submit online comments in the future. Just subscribe to the channel and any time those opportunities come up, I will let everyone know and try to generate enough conversation so that we can reach a consensus
Keep up the good work. I for one do support the original SST AC recommendation. In my opinion there isn't a lot of meat on a 14-inch Trout and the industry would be severed to release that fish. I personally don't keep any fish under 16 inches anyhow. I release fish over 24 inches as they aren't as good eating once they get that large in my opinion.
We are the only southern state that allows nets in our inside waters these fish are worth more to the state of north carolina recreational than commercial its a joke thank you democrats for that and piss poor leadership in this state
NC has had a Republican super majority for a long time until this year. I'm afraid we gotta put the weight of all this on both parties. Lol. The Republicans could have passed anything the last several years and chose not to.
I understand the frustration, but the reality is that commercial fishing isn't the only problem. It's a team effort. I'm happy to protect the other side. Just need the greed to stop at some point.
These netters are on the water everyday. No one is enforcing their activities. Until I see more effort from DMF, I cannot trust commercial to do the legal actions.
It's certainly not always easy to catch trout right now. There's some uncertainty about if weather is causing them to follow a different pattern or not.
N.C commercial fisherman are bottom barrel scum who have completely destroyed the fishing over the last 30 years and who have adamantly refused to budge on any reductions .
Don't lump them all together. Unfortunately, the fish dealers with the most political pull have done exactly that. Plenty of comms absolutely hate those guys and what they've done to our fisheries.
Thanks for your conservation efforts.
Thanks for the research and education on what is going on with NC fisheries and trying to help recreational fishermen.
You bet
Thank you for putting in the time and effort to spread the knowledge and educate. I truly appreciate what you do for NC fishermen.
Very welcome
Thanks for bringing this information to those of us that don't understand how this process works and give us a path to meaningful participation.
It's a complex issue, but I hope this helped shed some light.
Thank you for your guidance and advocacy.
It's important to stand up for what's right for our fisheries!
Great information. Thanks for getting straight to the point and doing the work.
Glad I could help! I try to make my videos clear and concise.
Great work Steve. Thanks again.
Appreciate the support!
Thanks for what your doing brother 👊👊
I'm just trying to get the word out. You and the rest of NC gotta show up!
We need you on the board
The thought of that males my skin crawl but I would do it for NC. In fact, I'm running for office in 2026 and hoping to do things that the MFC can't.
Always good time talking with you when we run into each other and the beach bridge
That's good to hear because I usually feel like a crazy person ranting at people about fisheries issues 😆 😂 . I mean we'll but I know to folks that are new to all this it's a bit of a tinfoil hat kind of approach.
Thanks for the info and hard work once again. Would love my children to be able to keep trout flounder and drum one day.
It's what we are all fighting for!
Great info and I am absolutely going to try to make it out! We’ve gotta make some noise to push things in the right direction! Appreciate you making these videos Brewski!!
Thanks for the update!
Glad I could provide some clarity on the issue!
Love that shirt! Thanks for staying in the fight brother, and for keeping us informed with facts, not emotion👊
I try my best to be fair and unbiased. There's a lot of emotion and a lot of misinformation out there.
Thanks for your education and continued work on helping save our fisheries!
Thank you! Let's do this
It's long overdue. We're running out of time and species. Trout is so special to so many of us.
Thank you for your continued efforts to educate not only me, and other fishing enthusiasts, but the folks who make the decisions / regulations.
Thank you for all you are doing to save our fisheries.
It's all of us working together to save them that counts.
Thank you for your concern for NC!
Brewski, you deserve a medal for your efforts. Really hoping NC takes strong steps to prevent another fishery from being ruined
Thanks for the kind words. Hopefully, the rest of the state will catch up with us and get this done.
I am an avid trout fisherman. I'm also in the minority in thinking commercial and recs can thrive with the correct leadership and laws. I also want to thank you for keeping us informed and for fighting the good fight. Hopefully I'll see you soon! Thanks again for all you do and tight lines!!
We can definitely thrive together, but we gotta work together. A few bad apples can really screw it for everyone.
I appreciate the time you put into this!
Thank you. Very informative.
I appriciate all your work and providing the rec. fisherman with a unified voice.
Thanks for your passion about our fisheries
Thanks for all your doing for me and my daughters as recreational fishmen, the country would be a better place with more people like you! Not just saying that because i want the reel for my kid either 😂 if we dont all start sticking together and standing up for our god given rights the government will take them all just as a way to pay more taxes
Well how did the meetings go?
Finishing a video right now where I give the reel away and briefly discuss the results.
Good info Steve. I hope our opinions are taken into consideration
It's unfortunate that our opinions are rarely considered. We gotta stick together to have some weight.
Great video Steven, thanks for all your hard work on these issues.

I hope we get this resolved this week. Trying to figure out how Jan and Feb will look. Thanks Steve. Great work as always
Are you a guide? I know the guides were mostly willing to give up their personal limits, but many were very concerned about closures.
The closure will definitely hurt business. People want to take a couple fish home at least. I would give my quota up no problem, but the commercial guys have to give it up as well and have a lb quots on what they can keep as well.
Unification is key on this issue, keep up the great work
Apes together, STRONG!! 😄 Really though, all the noise is what makes our po l itical leaders turn away. If we unify, we can really flip this on it's head.

Keep on keeping on brother man, good luck at the meeting next week.
Appreciate that! I'm going to need all the help I can get.
My grandfather taught me how to fish on the Albemarle Sound. Thank you so much for your work and insightful information
I am not a NC resident but my parents are. Is there anything up for vote, or just public commentary? Emails helpful?
Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication to this issue.
It's going to take a lot more than just me! We all have to stand up for what's right. Swing by the meeting if you can and if you can't, please sub to the channel so you can help us submit some public comments online in the future
Thanks for all your efforts to help keep us in the loop and I am planning to be at the next meeting so maybe I’ll see you there!
It's great to see more people getting involved! Thank you!
Thanks for keeping up the fight!
I'm glad you appreciate it. We're going to need all the help we can get.
Thanks Brewski, appreciate your leadership here. Keep up the fight.
Awesome Job Brewski. As always Thanks for all you do.
Appreciate you man, I'm just trying to do my part. Need you to show up and speak!
Great Video Man! Your work is definitely appreciated and not unnoticed in the fishing community
I'm glad you think so! I'm trying my best to get this message out there. Just need people to show up.
I appreciate the work you’re doing to unite the recreational fishing community and conservation.

Thanks for all your efforts. Hope they make a proper decision for our fishery.
Congratulations! You are the winner of the stradic! Shoot me an e-mail stbbrewster@gmail.com
We need to stop the bleeding here and give both sides a choice other than total rec closure. Thanks for your help!
Brewski, I agree with you 100% Coming from a commercial fishing family and my wifes family as well, I appreciate the fact that you are fighting for both side's and you are, I feel being fair about the issue and quota. Fulcher is quite a name in NC. Are you related to Brent?
@FishingwithBrewski No sir. There are plenty of Fulchers around, but we all do not come from the same DNA. My crowd are from Atlantic and Stacy NC. The Newbern Fulchers are not a part of us.
@frankfulcher8378 yea, I know several different families myself.
Thanks for your continued work on this. I am going to look at my schedule to see if I can get down to the meeting.
Thank you, Zach! Your support has been awesome. I'll be there at 6 today
I enjoyed you bringing both sides together with this video.

Thanks for the continued hard work on this! Hope to get some more of those trout underwater videos again, miss those!
I've actually purchased two different underwater drones!! I've been so busy with this they have barely ever left their boxes.
We need to do something to keep the nets out the creeks when these fish are bunched up thick in the winter months
I'm working on it. We have a serious lack of available law enforcement.
Thank you for all your hard work! See ya in EI 👍
I'll be there this evening.
Shared! Liked! 100% appreciate you and all that you are doing for our fisheries. I will be working and unable to make meeting unfortunately.
I really appreciate it! Hope you can catch up on the meeting notes later.
Thanks Stevo! I won't be able to make it on a Weds due to my schedule at work and church. Appreciate you keeping us informed and breaking everything down for us.
It's all good. I'm glad people are willing to put in the time for these meetings but I know it doesn't always work out.
Hopefully we're heading down a better road
100 percent agree
Love your videos now plz let me get that new reel? Lol
You'll have to wait and see. Comment numbers are low overall so looks like you'll have better than a 1:100 chance!! That's about 386 million times better than lottery odds 😄

Thanks so much for unifying all of our voices and the legwork done to explain how each choice might affect us.
I've watched net fishermen in inland waters fill their boats with speckled trout. That needs to stop. Keep up the good work.
There's a well known story about how the "hot ditch" in VA died. The guy who did the majority of the damage to that fishery got caught because his boat was about to capsize from the weight of the fish. Story is that someone called because they thought he was in need of assistance.
Thanks for your hard work. Are we going to be able to submit comments to the mfc online?
Liked and shared
The public comment period closed a while back. Sub to the channel and I will send updates for any future opportunities to submit comments.
Thank you for fighting the good fight. I won't be able to make the meeting as I live 5 hours away. There are a lot of people west of 95 who care a great deal about our coastal fisheries.
It's important to make your voice heard even if you can't make it to the meeting. Be on the lookout in the future for public comment notices from me.
Does the sport fishery have a quota?
No, and I hate the idea of doing something for one and not the other, but adaptive mgmt will jump in if rec continues to overfish. Locking in quota will protect comm and then we can further restrict rec when and where we need to.

I'm so glad there is someone here who is looking out for the Rec's and commercial folks in NC.
Brewski for president…or at least a seat on the board 🎣
I'm running for NC house in 2026. I have no idea if I can win or if my lifestyle can support it, but I'm determined to do something.
We are the only southern state that allows nets in our inside waters these fish are worth more to the state of north carolina recreational than commercial its a joke thank you democrats for that and piss poor leadership in this state

We should not allow any commercial fishing in the Pamlico or Albemarle Sounds. Period.
I understand the frustration, but the reality is that commercial fishing isn't the only problem. It's a team effort. I'm happy to protect the other side. Just need the greed to stop at some point.
NC please don’t let trout become become as poorly managed as flounder I may have to move if that happens 😢
These netters are on the water everyday. No one is enforcing their activities. Until I see more effort from DMF, I cannot trust commercial to do the legal actions.
all the regs in nc are getting out of hand. pretty soon the only thing they will let us catch are pinfish
That's still a lot of fish for the commercial guys. In the last month I've fished 7 days and boated 7 trout. Thing aren't looking good.
It's certainly not always easy to catch trout right now. There's some uncertainty about if weather is causing them to follow a different pattern or not.
