Love this. Was looking for a different presentation for trout around deepwater docks and I think this is it. I think I’m gonna try a jig head as the bottom weight so there’s two presentations down there.
Storage… I make the loop for my sinker big enough to go over the crank handle on my reel. Go over that with the loop and onto the shaft where it enters the reel body. Make up slack to tight with the crank. Then I can wrap the main line 1 time around the rod and hook over an eye to keep it all tight and secure.

I do this but use palomar knots for the swivel and sinker and mainline, the hook I use a blood knot… good rig for sure even with a live bait
I appreciate all the info . I have learned a ton
Would you suggest this rig near jetties with live or cut baits like croaker and mullets or live minnows
That lure is also excellent on the flats with a 1/4 oz Jighead so you can bounce it through the grass and sand pits quickly !!!
I use the swivel regardless. But I’m gonna have to try this heavy rig out around the jetties
Any tips on how to retrieve the heavy drop shot? Like a jig or let it sit?
Great info
Let's go fishing sometime. I'll show you my version that fills da coola! It's The Notorious St. Bernard Drop Shotty!
The snag at the compressor rig…. Done it soooo many times
Could a medium power rod work just as well?

I do the same method. 👍
Stupid question but how do you retrieve this? Reel and pop like you would with a jig? Let it sit? Slow retrieve?
The name of this rig should be the Bubba Shot
