    Hey man got my IFR license a few weeks back and your videos helped tremendously. You are hands down one of the best channels on youtube for flight instructions.

    OMG...You make it SO easy!
    Wow! So many instructors make it seem more difficult than what it is... That was SO simple.

    Great tutorial, out of curiosity, is the reason for entering the hold direct due to gps guidance? If we were flying a VOR approach where the holding point was on a radial with dme, would we do a parallel/tear drop entry into the hold (I.e. wouldn’t know where my outbound leg is)?

    I thought LPV stood for Localizer Performance with Vertical guidance?

  • @zz3709

    Great video. If ATC give me alternate missed instructions, is there a quick way to enter that, or do I just suck it up and fly it manually like everyone did before GPS'es?

    question... I notice your turn anticipate at both Zexon and Wikeb seem to initiate at about .9nm back from these intersections, and that the aircraft is travelling at 120 gs. What bank angle does this result in? And if the aircraft is operating faster, say at 160 knots, how would that distance and bank angle be affected?

    When you release from the holding pattern do you have to start over in PROC?

    LPV actually stands for localizer performance with vertical guidance.

    What gives vertical guidance in RNAV GPS Approach & RNP Approach? Anyone explain ? (Like it is ground based glideslope antenna in an ILS approach)

    I have done most of my experimenting with RNAVs in G1000 equipped aircraft. With the G1000, I (or the AP) am able to capture a GS at the IAF. But the GTN750 and GTN650 can only do that at the FAF. Right?

    • @flightinsight9111
      @flightinsight9111  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The GPS won’t stop you capturing the GS before glide slope intercept (the PFAF). Whatever your altitude is when capturing the glide slope, that’s when the AP will go into GS hold mode. Some people prefer to capture GS a bit earlier than FAF as you’re indicated

    LPV DOES NOT mean "plus". It means Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance.

    Good presentation, except when cleared for the approach, you should not leave the previously assigned altitude until established on a published segment of the approach. IOW, being instructed to cross ZEXON at or above 2,400, the previously assigned altitude was 5,000 (which is obviously above 2,400) & should be maintained until ZEXON, at which time the aircraft will be established on the segment between ZEXON & WIKEB with a published altitude of 2,400.
