Hi Capt Joe. Great explanation on flying an RNP approach. I have 42 years combined military/commercial flying, currently on the 787, and am also a checkairman, what you might call a TRE/TRI. Couldn’t have explained this better myself. Keep up the good work.
Although my intentions is to one day fly the 777, this was incredibly useful to watch! Please do the simulator with the checklists as mentioned, thanks! :)

Excellent tutorial for we simmers. Great to be ‘out of the classroom’ and on the flight deck!! Maybe some others to include startup, missed approach, vor/dme approaches etc. Thanks for sharing!!
This might be a dumb question but I still want to ask how the plane knows its glide slope using this approach? Cuz u only set the altitude to the DA and let the plane descent solely by itself, that is different from what ppl do with the LOC approach, like setting the FPA to -3 degrees to make the plane descent elegantly. So I’m curious how the plane could stay in the right glide slope if u only provide the altitude without a VS or FPA🤨
interesting! this procedure is more similar to the 757/767 than the 737NG in that you still must manually set your speed bug with each flap selection. Figured the -8 would be updated logic but guess not? "LAVS" is good gouge I got from Boeing (on 767/757) that some might like... once cleared for approach (and on a published segment/transition): LNAV, ALTITUDE (set field elevation or MDA, per airline perference), VNAV (in case were in HDG SEL) then, SPEED (open the speed window, set with each flap selection) don't forget to set Missed Approach Altitude descending below 1000' Thanks for the excellent video & helping simmers fly with utmost realism.

A couple of questions for you Capt Joe. Why are you setting your speeds manually? Are you required to use a +5 kts value on flap speeds? Also, why the LVSA isn a -8? Do you not use the IAN function of the -8 at CV? Also, when you put the transponder to XPNDR you are still reporting altitude but you are turning off your TCAS/ACAS display. The plane puts out an "On Ground" bit in the Mode-S transponder data so planes in the pattern would know you aren't flying. Nice video. I like how you put things together. I miss flying into LUX though I don't miss the hill on the RWY 6 side.
