    I have an issue with any piece of home gym equipment that requires a monthly membership. I would rather drop an extra $400 a year on more equipment.

    I prefer the iFit experience to Peloton. When I'm on a bike, I want to simulate an outdoor ride someplace vs the Peloton class which reminds me I'm stuck riding a fake bike inside.

    As far as fitness metrics the Garmin watches are superior to Apple. And no need to recharge daily. Also a review of trainer attachments for your bike like wahoo should be mentioned.

    I feel like the physical Nordictrack and ProForm machines are okay but the iFit programming really takes them to a much higher level. I love that you can climb Mt. Kilimanjaro or hike to Mt. Everest Base Camp or run intervals in Uzbekistan or explore an ancient tomb with an archaeologist in Egypt. I think the programming is so compelling because the production value is spectacular, the trainers are great and you can learn all kinds of great stuff and almost feel like you’re traveling while getting a workout in. I think the fact that the workouts are so fun and varied makes it easy to get on them every day. For me though the programming far outshines the physical equipment.

    Definitely looking forward to the treadmill comparison. Been thinking of getting a "commercial" nordictrack for winter running. My wife and I both do 10-20 miles a week and we have a few friends that use our home gym as well. We have a Sole that is beefy and works good, but really interested in the virtual trails.

    I think Nordic fusion and bow flex hvt (which you previously raved about) fit in this category and are better than a lot of these. It is pretty frictionless-you just walk up to the machine choose your workout and go. Turn a knob to adjust resistance. Doesn’t get any simpler than that. It’s definitely more cardio than strength training but I think those offer great cardio options.

    I love coop’s reviews but the smart fitness stuff isn’t really there yet. This video is a great overview of the smart gym stuff available today though.
    I sure would like it if you’d expand out and released like a weekly barbell review video and a weekly other equipment/smart gym/buying guide video and maybe a weekly gym tour/industry interview/collab video.
    And when you talked about the fan effects on the Nordic track bike I immediately thought about captain eo. It’d be straight fire if they had a workout video like you were on that ride with mj.

    Most of the time, 8 to 9 months out of the year, I will be running outside 90% of the time, only running inside during the winter. So having the best mill is not that important. But I really want a mill as I will not want to stop cardio for 100 days. And I don't see why I need extra stuff with my mill; i can use my cell.

    Nordic Track bike seems good at first but isnt. Computer crashes regularly in the middle of rides. Most of those rides weren't on a course following a instructors. They were just turn on and ride on blank track. Also breaks fairly easy. Resistance just stopped working after couple months.

    • @bobzucker8452
      @bobzucker8452 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a Tonal and Vitruvian Trainer+ on order. Virturvian should be available in mid January. From what I can tell, Vitruvian is also a great machine, has a 440 lbs max resistance vs 200 on the Tonal, (not that I’ll likely ever max out the Tonal), and is portable as it as wheels. It can’t do downward motions like lat pull downs, although I know they are working on a pulley add on to their bench. I travel to the beach in the summer and plan on packing the Vitruvian in the car and using it there. The Tonal will be bolted to my wall and is not portable. I have demoed a Tonal and was extremely impressed. Haven’t tried the new Vitruvian yet but i expect it’s also quite a machine.

    • @Mervc88
      @Mervc88 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bobzucker8452 Thanks for the reply Bob. I was glad that I held off on purchasing the version 1 of the vitruvian as they announced the Trainer+ shortly after. The main drawbacks of a vitruvian will be the lack of a screen and the lack of downward movement which we can do. Unfortunately, based on where I live, that is the only smart resistance based gym equipment available on the market.
      There is an interesting Kickstarter project called the speediance which is basically a standalone Tonal without the need to bolt to the wall. However, I am apprehensive about spending 1.5k on a Kickstarter project (delays in production, quality of the end product etc).

    Can you do a review on customer service, warranties, and longevity of these machines? You will need to do it incognito so they dont give you special attention or priority. I was really looking into nordictrack but then all these horror stories popup and now i'm not even thinking about "smart" home gyms.

    • @couponuser
      @couponuser 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. there are numerous bad reviews about Nordictrac. The main complaints are about durability, iFit not loading, and Nordictrac refusing to provide support. Concept 2... read the machines can last for years, possibly decades.

    Long time subscriber but feel like you’re in over your britches here. Maybe it’s a lack of experience in these spaces, but you are missing many of the key players in each category. The most glaring is the lack of fitness smart watch players from Garmin, Polar, Coros, etc. In fact, I think Apple’s fitness features are elementary compared to the major players in this space.

    I'm not that smart, maybe that's why I don't see the point of these equipments. It looks like more of innovative (at best) than smart gym equipment. Putting a big tablet, call them smart, and charge monthly fee sounds like pure marketing scam to me. I, sincerely, hope this is the first step of something good rather than just an attempt to change the dynamic of the gym equipment market.
