Whenever I see a vid about R* and TakeTwo Interactive is mentioned it really takes me back to a long time ago. Back in 96'-2000 I worked for a U.K games developer and TakeTwo were involved in some of the games we were making, heck I even had a few hours to do some 'testing' on GTA London just to see if I could find any bugs, and yeah I found a few and flagged them for Rockstar to fix. Being a "Games Tester" back in the day was the best damn job I've ever had, going to work was fun as I was getting payed (nicely too) to do a job I absolutely loved. Another great vid, very detailed and informative.
@@BiggestHater754 I've often thought about it cos when I did it it was GameCube, Xbox, Dreamcast, Gameboy, PC, PS1 & just about PS2 - but now the games are so much more complex. The company I worked for at the time ('Runecraft') were a great company and they paid us well for testers, and gave us more than just testing work, we did design ideas, level design, I got credited in their games for a lot more than just testing... I would imagine it's still a great job, worst thing about it was you didn't get to pick and choose which games you worked on I had the displeasure of all the Barbie games (for mattel) and the Scrabble games for Hasbro, but some of the games we made I loved, like mat Hoffman's Pro BMX, spec-ops stealth patrol (and it's sequels) and yeah I would imagine it's a lot harder now but still probably pays ok and is enjoyable.
@@BiggestHater754 I'm sure I replied earlier but it seems to not be here now, but anyway I'd say yes, it was I'd say a fair bit easier back then on the earlier consoles - things have gotten a lot more complex, and also I guess it would depend on the company your working for too. The company I worked for back in the day ('Runecraft') were a great company who really listened to their testers and gave us extra duties like the possibility to do level design, and idea implementation (to make the games as good as possible to play etc) but I'd say out of all the jobs I've ever had it was by far the best one. It just didn't feel like going to work as I really enjoyed the job, I was getting paid to do a job I loved (and it was a nice wage, not huge, but not that bad either). So I'd say yes it's a great job, and also a good way to start in the games industry and maybe work your way up the ladder so to speak. All the best
I think a lot of people, myself included, were just thrown off by the fact that GTA V was heading to LS instead of VC as this was a different release framework from the 3D era. GTA III was LC, VC was obviously VC and SA featured LS, SF and LV. When the HD universe kicked off with GTA IV, we got a HD reimagined LC, making myself and a lot of others believe that VC was next. I made a similar post on Reddit where I also discussed the lack of SF and LV from GTA V, and how Mt Chiliad was now North of LS, instead of West like it was in SA, but then it was on the same landmass as SF, so it seems that they have restructured the SA region. I believe we've heard about GTA VI's development quite a few times due to changes at R*. I think that after Benzies left, the script/story was rewritten. After that, GTA VI was put on hold as RDR2 became a much bigger process than anticipated. Finally we have the departure of one of the Houser brothers. This is just my opinion/speculation, but it would explain why we've had multiple mentions of GTA VI throughout the past decade. Due to this, I believe that GTA VI has really only been in active development, aside from the script, since around 2018-2020. This gives a 5-7 year period of development for GTA VI, which may seem like a long time, but then GTA V was 5 years after GTA IV, and RDR2 was 5 years after GTA V. I'm no developer, but after seeing the trailer, I can only imagine the amount of effort it would take to create such a game. Even with the budgeting and amount of staff at R*, 5-7 years is still a remarkable achievement. Looking forward to your next video. I quite like these informative pieces, and it helps to know you're not just spouting nonsense, but rather have actually done some research and even provided evidence. Keep at it :)
@@ProSkye59 Exactly. Rockstar is a BIG company. I am pretty sure that they had a team that started working on rdr2 in 2010-2011 and a team that started working on GTA VI in 2014-2015 already. my biggest gripe with gta5 is that all the online content is completely inaccessible in story mode. The only reason i even play online is to play with the new toys
I honestly don't think Dan left for any particular reason that was bad lol. The guy probably was just ready to retire, he's 50 and I'm sure he has more than enough money to be set for life.
I knew of gta from the first game long ago, but didn’t really care about it until game 2 came out. Played game 2 back on the ps1 and fallen in love ever since. And when game 3 was announced, I was like “that’s, dat game I used to play long ago and now it’s fully 3D!!” Had to get it. Been a gta fan ever since. 😁

This video was so well researched and informative. But I can’t believe there’s people who went to school for game development, and on average, their salary is less than mine. I always thought those people made like 60 or 70 K to start out. This truly is quite a time to be alive to say the least.

I just started a brand new PS5 save file. I played the crap out of GTA5 on ps4. Even though the game is over a decade old, the graphics still look incredible, I never got a chance to play online mode until now , it's really fun jumping back into the GTA universe after not playing for a couple of years. I personally have really high hopes for GTA6, a brand new game engine with enhanced next gen graphics and gameplay. The madness and lunacy of the GTA universe revived, combined with the realism of RDR, is going to be epic, to say the least. The story, however, may leave a bunch of players jaded. We dont know how that will turn out yet, I see a ton of players complaining about playing as a female protagonist , I think it will add a new layer of complexity and intrigue to the story overall. The Bonnie and Clyde theme combined with the GTA universe is something im really excited about, Vice City deserves the next gen treatment. Im really pumped to see what Rockstar pulls off next.

I hope we will be able to go to the store in gta 6 and buy tampons for Lucia when she is on her period . Here’s a 200iq idea: they should make GTA Online it’s own thing and with each DLC expand the map with a new city from previous rockstar games.
why not just boot up the old games and why would doing that give rockstar any incentive to make a new game?
