Today's video is all an example video of how I study soccer games in order to improve at my position of right back. I take a professional soccer game at the highest level (Bundesliga, EPL, La Liga) and I just watch and learn from the player in my position.
In this video, I study Borussia Mochengladbach vs FC Bayern Munich and just watch Jantschke play. I study his movements, off ball patterns, passing decisions, defensive positioning to try to learn from him.
My hope for this video is to teach you how I learn, so that you can take these same skills and apply them to a different professional soccer match so you can learn from a different player who plays in your specific position. Let me know what you think!

This was actually one of the most interesting videos i've watched when it comes to educational football videos. I have been trying to analyze players when watching a game on TV but I always end up watching the game instead of studying the game. This will help me a lot i think, Thank you so much for making this video in particular!

Ultimate Nova Creep hi mate. Apologies. I signed my first professional contact at 17 shortly after this. So it’s definitely not too late. Age 15 I was in my Sunday league sides “b” team and just a few years later i player football as my full time job. Unfortunately I missed half the season through injury and didn’t get offered an extension but has some trials in Spain and England afterwards and now playing at a semi pro level while also being a qualified academy coach and scout. Just honestly need to work hard. I as mentioned at only 15 I wasn’t even good enough for a Sunday leagues u16s team and just started waking up early to do extra training and eventually got an opportunity. Don’t even focus on becoming pro. Just focus on enjoying the process, working hard, professing up the levels and it will pay off

Owen Weston just by playing well consistently. There’s constantly scouts watching games at all levels so if you constantly play well build a good reputation in your league, eventually the news will get to someone with contacts or a scout or coach you’ll have a look at you. So just work hard. Build a reputation for yourself within your league and play well consistently until you get picked up

The turn by the RB when keeper has ball is really important, gives clear view of the field ahead as well as encourages keeper that could play it into space. Great spot!!!

*Love the video! Thats what I keep on repeating to myself.. whenever you feel like you are pushing too much, you can still train, but mentally, just watch some matches! Just one last thing, can you do a video on how should we play more physically, how to position, step, where to put more pressure etc. Thanks!*

Thank you so much! I have been trying to improve my game for so long and i never got better. My skills did but my insight didnt get better. So my friend told me i would be better of as a defender although i always wanted to play as a winger. She said i lacked the insight and that was a thing i couldnt improve. I feel much beter now i know that i can improve.

After seeing this analysis. I realize how different this is compared to all the other basic 2-3 min analysis of players. I don’t want to exactly say that they’re are bad or wrong but they are definitely not are useful as this. The majority are always the same thing: “Neymar, Iniesta, Messi, Hazard, etc. know how to find open space.” And then they show a clip of them running into space. Like it’s common soccer knowledge that you need to find space to receive the ball or to run into with the ball. You need the time. But they don’t actually analyze how the player finds it. How many times and when they check over their shoulder. When is the right time to start moving into that space compared to the people around them. How that space can be used to link up with other teammates or why that specific space will be useful to link up with teammates. This is a true analysis that even gives some insight or idea on what the player might be thinking and how their train of thought works. I am happy to have found this. Thank you Matt.

Decent right back, often made the right decisions in this game however his reaction times were often poor and made it harder for himself, also at points he could have communicated better to martial his teammates and order them into better positions to defend against ALL dangers.
the one play shown in the beginning when he had the ball and cut back and passed to the center back instead the better option would've been to switch the play with a long ball to the left back.
I played right back for years and was 9 when I was scouted for Glasgow Rangers however my career got cut short through a knee injury and I didn't get the chance to go pro.

13:52 Matt says he couldn’t have done anything but I don’t think that’s completely true; two players have already gone to win the ball off Müller so instead of Janktsche going in too, he should see that Ribery is in space and should cover him quickly. Obviously I’m being very picky and it was a very clever disguised ball from Müller, but to say he could have done nothing else I think is wrong.

I started playing soccer in 7th grade, im in 10th now, besides the fact, my first year i scored 14 goals, i thaught forsure i would go pro and be better than anybody the next couple years of middleschool soccer, long story short, i didnt make the middle school team that year, i made it in 8th and practicaly sat bench the season.. 9th grade i didnt score any goals and actually started and played alot of minutes. now i do travel soccer for MY age group and i have had a few chances the last 2 games we had, but cant score. matter of fact, we went against a team last weekend that was undefeated and i got past their keeper and hit the outside netting of the goal..
please give me tips on how to score, its really causing me depression deep down, its all i think about is scoring that goal
