I play YGO sorta casually and I struggle to remember the effects of 7k cards so the fact that you offer so much information (including what all the additional effects of all the non-archetype cards do) in such a digestible format with just enough humor to keep my attention without being distracting is amazing, and I'd love to learn about more decks like this from you.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: "A Full Course of Magic" Secret Pack which provides both Nouvelles and Gunkan archetypes consists of only 4URs. So... if any one wants to get well functioning (not Tier based but you get the point) Ritual and Xyz archetypes, do it before Secret Pack is upgraded with 3-4 new extra URs and spoiling the Odds of getting important URs. I think catch of the day is emulating a person ordering sushi, as reflected as your opponent "ordering" a suship the chef (you) gets in the hand. Its interesting but could've been better for gameplay

No way, When I first started playing MD I instantly fell in love with gunkan suships and made a whole deck with them. I only took it apart when playing through ranked and not being able to get out of plat with it. I just spent everything on crafting a Tearlaments deck but now seeing this video is really making me want to come back to the team.
Honestly, simplest way to describe Catch of the Day: You are giving them the menu and options on what they want for their Suship order. So the effect tries to match this by the fact the opponent actually gives you the name of the Suship they want you add (and thus prepare). And best part is Catch of the Day's counters are basically the bill for the meal if they do destroy the Spell.
I really like the field spell tbh. The on summon effects of the XYZ monsters are hard opt and ash, also neges the extra effect (super-dreadnought attacking directly, etc...), so having the field spell activated lets you go cl1 your XYZ, cl2 the field spell protecting you from ash and letting you decide what Gunkan card to immediatly draw. Super-dreadnoughts negation effect is soft otp, so having the field spells effect to XYZ summon another super-dreadnought in the DMG step to negate and draw for next turn is a valid strategy. Therefore my most common (although bad) turn one set-up is: one super-dreadnought, one carrier, the field spell and maybe daily special set. Something you forgot to mention is that Shirau also looks if Shari is also an XYZ material, but only Shari specifically since red is not treated as shari as a material.
Another Thing you could do with Suships if your feeling a little Evil is play a hand full of going second cards and play Blind Second Suships. Change of Heart, Snatch steal, TTT, Thrust, stuff like that can be real evil. and with Just Umi and Ikura thats already nearly lethal so all you need is one more monster for game. which you can always steal one of there's with any of the named steal cards above, since most of them don't stop you from attacking. and the few that do you can always make a Charmer link 2 and revive with it revive it with the charmer effect and now you can attack with it. or just make Princess with them. some good board Breaker cards like Lightning storm and Duster that don't restrict you are also good to force monster effects out of your opponent to make your TTT, and Thrust live too are also pretty good.
Change of heart is so funny with gunkan bwahhaha! Gunkans can pack a nice punch they just struggle to build their board which is a shame! But they funny so who cares 😅
I made Gunkan a couple weeks ago and got some nice wins with them. Thanks for the perfectly timed vid, I didn't quite know the combo line but this helps a ton! definitely subbing for more vids like this, i love rogue decks and weird decks ❤
burner visor is cool. May i interest you in adventure suships? small world, kaiju gamaciel, and link spider tie the two architypes together really well. you can do fun shennanigans like bounce the kaiju with dracosack to kaiju twice then beat over it with ikura. also vesparato can make the rank 4s into a 4 mat zeus, also you can lay it on top of dugares for more atk.
cool video as someone who has been playing suships pretty much since their addition to master duel and is building the deck in tcg its cool to see more videos on it also i had never considered burner visor so thats pretty based
I can't believe that having Ikura-class Dreadnought equipped with Burning Visor and a Gunkan Suship Uni-class Super-Dreadnought (both with their correct Gunkan as material) is an OTK as long as you have two cards in your hand.

I appreciate that tysm! Suship is a hyper casual deck so it would struggle against fiendsmith and such! But you can add some cheeky going second cards like dark ruler no more, change of heart ect to go for the funny ha ha otk 😅

I play this deck in EDOPRO, was a fun one. Too bad Maxx C infestation, which has like 90% usages, makes this deck as feeder in MD if you fail the "minigame". Still, the deck is creatively made; a signature one with FIRE/Aqua
I was thinking about making a Suship deck a while back but I kinda bricked on ideas outside of 3 of each card plus rescue rabbit and a quickplay spell that adds attack equal to the defense of a monster your opponent controls. I kept playing in the recent Link/XYZ festival FOR the mate base. it's such a goofy archetype.

i run a gunkan slifer meme deck. since gunkans put cards at the top of the deck, i can play the true name. easily summoning slifer. and also if slifer is in hand, gunkans can swarm almost too easily giving slifer 3 tributes easily.
You can't add shari red because it's not shari in the deck and if it was would would be able to play both. Just like all field spells that are ALWAYS umi you can only play one. Reffering to painful decision

The best part of this is if you make udf and Zeus, then this is a 2 ur deck with like 9sr cards.
Ngl I completely forgot zeus...I use him in the deck but didn't talk much about him in the video....oops hahaha
UDF and two Zeus makes 3 URs. And you need to play generic URs on top, like Maxx "C" and Ash.
