    This is by far the most requested video I've been getting. This definitely isn't one of the best videos I've done since I was at the customers location. But for now, it will do.
    I personally use a McCulloch 1385 Steam Cleaner. At one point, I did have the VX5000 steamer but sold it.
    I can tell you that the VX5000 does out beat the 1385 in every way possible, but I still get as good of results in the interior with the 1385.
    So regardless of what type of interior you're cleaning, the McCulloch WILL be able to handle your needs.
    If you think you need more power and need to upgrade, it's probably because you're technique isn't down set because I have been able to clean just about every type of interior with this steamer.

    Hey just another good strategy if you're doing seats; ALWAYS do the drivers seat first so that it dries first assuming that they might be driving it soon.

      +Detail Groove what's up bro, how long it takes you to do a complete interior by your self? ....you should give a try to use a drill with a brush attachment, that thing and the steamer should take you half of the time.

      Carver Davis My tip if you are doing the carpet take out both driver and passenger seats and clean them first out of the car. Now move to the carpet witch is a lot easier to do with the seats out by the time you done the carpet the seats will be dry and you can throw them back in right away. Yes floor will still be wet but at least you can still drive it right way

    It's more effective to apply your cleaner to the carpet/seat fibers first as oppose to steaming them first. The reason being is, if you saturate the fibers with steam (water) first, it can no longer absorb the all purpose cleaner. It's like trying to add water to a sponge that's already holding water. Just FYI for all, free of charge this time.

      @@ericvasquez3325 how are they absorbed? Most of the plastic used in car interiors is polypropylene, which is nonporous…which means its literally impossible for anything to “absorb” into it…besides that…the reason plastics crack in cars is the complete opposite of what you said. They crack from being too DRY, caused by the sun/heat combined with poor or no regular cleaning/conditioning, not from something absorbing into it..absorbtion of liquid does the opposite of causing something to dry out..

    This is the long way of doing it.
    Here's what I like to do
    1) vacuum the area thoroughly
    2) do the steaming if you have a steamer
    2) spray your shampoo on the affected area and let soak for 1min.
    3) grab a drill with a drill brush attachment and use the drill to brush the seat instead of using of ur hand a brush which takes alot longer and doesn't do a good job.
    4) mop the area with a towel or vacuum or use a carpet extractor machine

    Thanks for the video. I used to do detailing almost 30 years ago! forgotten most of it. The problem with doing detailing without some sort of extractor is that the APC is still in the seat fabric. I could not afford a steamer back in the day, so I would scrub with APC and then use a bucket of soap and shampoo and lightly saturate the seat with water, scrub around and then immediately vacuum up so it didn't soak into the seat too much. Not perfect, but IMHO much better than the ghetto hack of simply spraying APC and scrubbing, especially if someone is getting paid to clean the car. It's not getting clean. The APC will get some of the surface stuff and the appearance of clean but really need some way to extract. Now, I would buy a hot water extractor.

    This is what I did to clean my cars carpet witch was really nasty when I got the car. Plus I'll tell you what else I use to clean the plastic trims.
    Okay so everything I'm going to say here I highly recommend you use now I was like most I don't have all the special equipment but I did go and rent a small steam cleaner reason why it's the best at lifting g out nasty stains.
    So my supply's
    Steam cleaner.
    Dish soap.
    Scrub brush.
    Gu Be Gone.
    Now I didn't have the special chemical that goes in the steamer so I just used dish soap and before you ask yes it created a lot of suds but that's what you want. First use the steamer and spray water all over the carpet then push the brush part into the carpet get lots of suds going you'll se the water turn brown and black that's good it's cleaning. Move brush back and forth get it all up and out of the carpet. Now with the separate brush scrub the carpet hard your wrist will hurt but it's worth it. Once done that this an extra once it's a little dry vacuum it with your house vac and when done you'll be amazed how good it looks almost like new 98% new I'd say. Now the plastic trim peaces I like Gu Be Gone just spray it on the plastic don't worry this stuff safe on plastic just try not to get it on any rubber so you doors weather stripping if you get it on that just whip it off right away. But this stuff picks up so much dirt even dirt you can't see just spray it good and whip it down.
    Just my tip for cleaning.

What do you say about others saying you aren't extracting dirt rather pushing it down. Much respect brother.

      The great thing about having your business is it's your own business. You know how many people say I should get an extractor, an air compressor, a Tornadaor, the Rupes 21, etc... If I take everyone's suggestions, I'll end up with a super-packed van hauling 20 different things around.
      In an ideal world, having an extractor/steamer is what you want. But I'm working with what I have. And for now, I choose to just carry a steamer over an extractor.
      And plus, if the customers are happy with the results, that's really all that matters

    Is it weird that I use a steamer and then vac it up with a bissel spot cleaner? Seems to work well when I get an area very wet. Some of the most dirt I’ve extracted was like that

    What the best cleaner to use on seats like that? My F150 has light colored seats like in this video and don't want a cleaner thats going to leave a stain itself.

    You could get an extractor to suck up all the gunk and water. It’s a miracle machine

    Hi Detail Groove, Do you prefer Shine Supply Solution (APC) over Meguiars APC? is it better in your opinion for cleaning seat stains? Thanks

      I personally did not see a difference in performance. I would base your decision on price and accessibility of the product

    Can you make a video of when not to use an extractor? I recently clean an interior, and I had new stains come out both on the seats and in the carpet.

    Been looking into upgrading my process with either the McCulloch MC1375 or the MC1385 and I'm glad it's capable of handling these jobs, so thanks for sharing.
    You don't carry a generator, do you?

    • @DetailGroove
      @DetailGroove  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're welcome! It can handle a lot. Although I wouldn't really use it for big time heavy engine cleanings or anything. I do not carry my own generator or water. I use the customers water/power

    • @aetherauto9729
      @aetherauto9729 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm really only planning on using it for soiled interiors.
      I've currently only done jobs where water and/or power are available to me, but I am also just getting started. Have you really not run into any issues not carrying your own power? I'm just apprehensive about not being able to provide proper customer service, but I guess I could just use a really long extension cable.

    Would it be better to spray some APC first before agitating the seats with the steamer? Or not much difference when you don't pretreat it?

    • @DetailGroove
      @DetailGroove  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do both. Just depends. It's one of those try it out and see what you like

    • @JenNa-jh7ih

      My understanding is that the steam opens up the fibers so I'm thinking maybe steaming first allows the product to penetrate deeper?

  • @XZAYLO
    @XZAYLO 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    how come you dont use a carpet spot cleaner/extractor oscar? would that be easier since it sprays with cleaner and then sucks it out? I am having a hard time deciding what to buy on amazon, a steamer or a carpet spot cleaner or brushes

    • @DetailGroove
      @DetailGroove  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In an ideal situation, you'd want both. However, a steamer is SOOOOOO much more versatile than an extractor. I have a small mobile rig, so space is a premium. I can't carry every tool under the sun. The steamer gets the results my customers want. So that's that

    • @XZAYLO
      @XZAYLO 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @DetailGroove

      It's something like this: www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-600-CFM-Blower-Fan-Air-Mover-with-Daisy-Chain-AM2265/301703580
      If you look around your local janitorial or carpet cleaning stores, you can probably get some for much cheaper (used of course). They're super compact and effective

    • @DetailGroove
      @DetailGroove  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's what the customer is paying for, I do it. If it's one little stain that I can take care of, even if the customer didn't pay for it, I'll do it (except without using the steamer)
