I’m torn between Byleth and Chrom. On the one hand Byleth is just strong as is, and I don’t have any of the units that Chrom can steal from to make him really busted, but he will only get stronger with buff powercreep so he seems the better investment.
BByleth's weakness is actually skills that nullify changes to attack priority, which we thankfully have a unique Sacred Seal which does just that. Since Divine Pulse must be triggered for her to get 75% dmg reduction, and she triggers it via her own attack, if you can attack her first, she's just a colorless tome flier. Get a strong bow unit with guaranteed attack priority and she's toast. There's also so many methods of closing distance nowadays that a melee unit can easily zoom into her with no problem. Chrom should be able to steal movement bonuses as well, effectively giving him 4 movement like BSeliph and LSigurd. I'm curious if he can steal stuff like Pathfinder from Nott and Dagr, or Savior from tank units. I dunno if those count as visible/active buffs though.
Ironically, she also gets really messed up if the opponent itself has Vantage, since she will take (probably lethal) damage before Divine Pulse goes out and provides damage reduction. Byleth is a terrifying unit, but there is some clear counterplay. B!Tiki (with the Distant Counter seal) also smokes her since she can just... take Divine Pulse away, leaving her to crash against a massive (Dragon)Wall of resistance.
@@leveldown8743 oh yeah, the distant counter (dragons) seal exists. I was wondering why they didn't give Tiki a distant counter like her legendary and fallen versions have.
I don't think Chrom could take save skills because those aren't visible bonuses and are just skills. Perhaps down the line there will be an ability that gives a visible "save" bonus to allies, similar to how we have NFU and Dodge bonuses showing up.
This is how I would of designed this years CYL... 1) Chrom becomes a Pegasus Healer, with design elements from Emmeryn. 2) Tiki dressed like Marth weilding the Fire Emblem. 3) Seliph, Dressed like Arvis where he worked with the empire and never rebelled.
1) Men can’t ride Pegasi unless they’re from Hoshido. He could’ve been a Griffon Rider, but he wouldn’t have been a healer. 2) She would’ve been dressed like Awakening Marth (aka Lucina) anyway 3) This sounds more like someone trying desperately to make a Fallen Seliph concept.

And considering CYL is a celebration of the character often in What if scenarios it would been nice to see. 2) They may count it for all Tiki's though, and could easily become the "Hero of Light" after a What If of Marth's death. 3) This comes from Awakening DLC where its mentioned its hard to tell who is the hero between Arvis and Sigurd. It just depends on your viewpoint. Simply in this scenario Arvis took in and raised Seliph and together they took on the corruption of Lopis from the inside.
Put Chrom on a Team with L!/S!Claude with a tier 4 smoke skill (take your pick), F!Lilith paired with Claude, and a Harmonic Edelgard or Lysithia, with one assist chrom can get Fallen Star, Tier 4 Smoke skill buff of your choice, Null Follow Up, Resonant Blades and Bonus Doubler.
I would have love having a King Seliph with a staff, focusing on mending the scars of the war. Kinda like fe4 secret ending where the Yield desert is a desert no more. Ending the cycle of hatred, that kind of thing.
I was hoping we'd see Tiki as "the new Naga" from Awakening's alternate future. Instead I.S. is pretending that Lucina knows how to resize her clothes. Ah well. She's Brave, she's green breath, and she's awesome. I've got over 2,100 orbs ready to +10 her.
Tiki's design is honestly unexpected for me since i never even considered that they would do young tiki. I figured it was going to be naga the whole time. Which leaves me a bit disappointed and convinced that they just love only young tiki. Also i can kind of agree with her damage reduction. Like if it was going to be 40 i feel like it should have been a guaranteed 40 if she had more res. Otherwise it should have scaled higher.
Now I know nothing about Geaneology and Thracia, but the reason they could give Eliwood, Hector, and Lyn different weapons is there's 12... pffft I forgot what they're called legendary weapons in Blazing Blade, but by the end of the game aren't Hector and Eliwood the only ones to obtain 2 of these 12? So they could just get creative and slap these other legendary weapons on anyone. Comparatively to Fates I wouldn't expect Corrin to use a weapon besides turning into a dragon or Yato, outside spoofy seasonal. Like if Corrin had Raijinto or Siegfried (unintentional but ironic considering the topic is about Sigurd, since mythologies irl they may have been 1 person or 2), it might not make sense, and there isn't a whole lot of legendary weapons in Fate outside the ones specific characters already have, to my memory there isn't any at all that aren't already taken. Like maybe that's why? Just guessing, maybe I'm wrong... Edit:and then there's Chrom what do I know lol.

flow refresh on b would be kind of nice for Seliph, if not for his c already covering NFU, it'd work well with his built in Miracle and allow for some fun in player phase at least.
@@joejaboy problem, you need >25%hp, and with the base 40 hp he has, the 10 you get from flow refresh can reset his miracle. with heavy blade seal, he could likely trigger galeforce, and don't worry about surviving every time in player phase, due to nfu+miracle reset after every combat.

Or at least something different, unique, something that's just not attached to Young Tiki.

I can’t wait to cheese with him in SD lmao This CYL was cool, they all seem strong, only Seliph looks kinda boring, gameplay wise. Only two new skills, A pp skill that negates penalties and Tikis A skill that also heals which is aight. Tiki looks extremely disgusting. I wonder if a dragon slayer will be able to kill her with NFU

You ignore her perks like disabling lethality or deadeye from yuri and chrom and even winning those matchups because she dies to falchion? like dude, there is only like 2 common falchion users and what scenario will tiki ever be against a naga user? top it off you praise byleth while she dies to anything with hardy bearing or brave attacks. and chrobin needing an entire specific team with specific move types and use an action before seeing combat. this analysis is flawed
Hey its fine, you can say whatever you like when it comes to analysis. However we're by no way saying she's bad. She's still stronger than most units. The issues we had is as an infantry tank who is going up against most units nowadays who run Null Follow Up. Considering it's pretty common, it can be problematic for her. Will she survive? She might just, she has the stats and skills. I think it is also a bit of a future proofing of units. Most slower infantry units who end up being tanks often fall to the wayside. Specifically with armored units and their saves and with Intelligent Systems and their weird penchant for making speedy dragon killing weapons. However, remember that this can happen to most of these units. As for Chrom needing a team to "function" is a lot like saying that Tiki needs a team to activate her weapon. It's silly, and may require a bit more action. However Chrom has some interesting skill ceilings even if it's clunky. It's also ignoring his base kit which is pretty nice without the copy trait. I do believe we were a bit more hyped when it came to Byleth though. So hey, I can agree with you there. We're going off first impressions here. At the end of the day though, it's just how we perceive it and you can agree to disagree just the same. It isn't hate by any means, who's to say who falls off? We just went on first impressions based on the meta at the moment.
Honestly. These are getting worse. CYL4 was super basic, and then cyl5 got better-ish, but the ONLY good one here is Byleth. Seliph wearing his dads outfit is cute, i dig it, but tiki is boring as hell and chrom is just, exalt chrom with a lance.

This CYL was cool, they all seem strong, only Seliph looks kinda boring, gameplay wise. Only two new skills, A pp skill that negates penalties and Tikis A skill that also heals which is aight. Tiki looks extremely disgusting. I wonder if a dragon slayer will be able to kill her with NFU

so much tiki hate it baffles me. You ignore her perks like disabling lethality or deadeye from yuri and chrom and even winning those matchups because she dies to falchion? like dude, there is only like 2 common falchion users and what scenario will tiki ever be against a naga user? top it off you praise byleth while she dies to anything with hardy bearing or brave attacks. and chrobin needing an entire specific team with specific move types and use an action before seeing combat. this analysis is flawed
Hey its fine, you can say whatever you like when it comes to analysis. However we're by no way saying she's bad. She's still stronger than most units.
The issues we had is as an infantry tank who is going up against most units nowadays who run Null Follow Up. Considering it's pretty common, it can be problematic for her. Will she survive? She might just, she has the stats and skills.
I think it is also a bit of a future proofing of units. Most slower infantry units who end up being tanks often fall to the wayside. Specifically with armored units and their saves and with Intelligent Systems and their weird penchant for making speedy dragon killing weapons. However, remember that this can happen to most of these units.
As for Chrom needing a team to "function" is a lot like saying that Tiki needs a team to activate her weapon. It's silly, and may require a bit more action. However Chrom has some interesting skill ceilings even if it's clunky. It's also ignoring his base kit which is pretty nice without the copy trait.
I do believe we were a bit more hyped when it came to Byleth though. So hey, I can agree with you there. We're going off first impressions here.
At the end of the day though, it's just how we perceive it and you can agree to disagree just the same. It isn't hate by any means, who's to say who falls off? We just went on first impressions based on the meta at the moment.

Honestly. These are getting worse. CYL4 was super basic, and then cyl5 got better-ish, but the ONLY good one here is Byleth. Seliph wearing his dads outfit is cute, i dig it, but tiki is boring as hell and chrom is just, exalt chrom with a lance.
