      NFL hall of fame is voted on by former players and coaches and people involved in the league. Owens was left out of the first ballot because he was a spiteful manchild who's influence in the locker room often negated his contributions on the field. While Owens should have been first ballot, I don't find it sad that he is not. This is what happens to someone who burns as many bridges as TO did.

    • @df6148
      @df6148 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Pulla Dunn Ed reed reminds me of Rod Woodson. A ball hawk. Int return specialist. But with a Miami Hurricane toughness. Polamalu reminded me of Junior Seau if he were to play the Safety position. A huge gambler instinctively and also from USC. Nobody has ever seen an Islander Play Safety in the NFL and become a HOFer at it. He definitely revolutionized it by opening the doors up for future generations. Islanders now play positions like QB (Tuavailoa) and he probably would’ve been sent to linebacker or backup lineman had it not been for Troy showing that you can play something outside of the box (pun intended). Reed revolutionized by being a Cover Corner with the toughness to play safety. He opened the door for Miami Safeties. Sean Taylor was next. He also proved that you don’t have to be this monster looking safety to dominate a game. He revolutionized the game by becoming such a threat that every team now had to have that free safety superstar on their defense and it started to show on payday. Troy Polamalu was drafted in RESPONSE to Ed Reed because they needed somebody LIKE that to stay on Par. Revolutions are when eyebrows now look your way because of a huge change that happened. The current gen usually is unaware of the revolution that happened because to them, the fruits of that labor become the “new normal” and all they ever knew but somebody helped pave that way and it is why it is good to know our sports history and history for that matter.

  • @scottsodyssey2485
    @scottsodyssey2485 3 ปีที่แล้ว +58

    The best example I've ever heard of how to determine if a player was a HOF'r was "Did he dominate the game at his position during the era in which he played?" Think about it like this and you can answer most questionable inductees. Just like Prime said Randy Moss, DONT even have to think about. TO, should have been first ballot, weather you like him or not his numbers are HOF worthy.

    • @Mytowerisaneiffel
      @Mytowerisaneiffel ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree and disagree. The ones you don’t have to think about are first ballot hall of famers. The ones you do have to maybe think about should still get in eventually if deserving. If not then let’s only let first ballot guys in, which no sports do at any level because it’s stupid.

      No, that’s a first ballot hall of famer. Deion and a lot of people seem to forget you get multiple chances to get in and that’s the reason, there’s levels to it . First ballot is for the absolute legends like Deion. Terrible take from him in my opinion and Deion didn’t change the game itself, he changed games, but there were shut down corners who could return long before Deion was born. Jordan changed the game itself, Kobe didn’t. So is Kobe not a hall of famer? If you take a 100 question and miss 5 you don’t fail

    agreed, for example, london fletcher was a super bowl champ, 4 time all pro, was an extreme athlete and played at linebacker when it was for big slow powerful guys. He arguably changed how a lot of people saw the position. he was only 5'10 at LB but ran a 4.38 40 time. 6th all time in consecutive games played, went from undrafted to team captain and He changed the position and should definitely be a Hall of Famer, but not talks at all about him.

Eli Manning getting in just cause he was part of 2 championship teams is dumb. Eli Manning has 2 rings, while Dan Marino has 0 rings. But Eli Manning isn't even in the same league as Dan Marino. Like Deion said, "Were you that guy? Not just cause we gotta meet a quota". Eli Manning wasn't "that guy" but he met what is apparently a quota cause he was QB for 2 championship teams, even though winning championships in football isn't an individual accomplishment.

    People forget that these "halls of fames" are essentially museums. Museums that have to charge admission to the public! And lots of potential admission doesn't get to the halls because players that the general public identify with do not get in. Deion Sanders makes a great point. The club is not exclusive. What he doesn't realize is that the exclusive players are not keeping the museum open! If the public is not coming through the doors just to see the exclusive players, then the halls must let in good players that the public identifies with. It has always been about the money. Even these so called Halls Of Fame!

Is it having rings but not being great? Is it only playing 6 years but great all six? Character. Can you be great on the field and not be off the field? Should character even be considered? Can you get in with good character and average skill but played 10+ years? They need to set the criteria for nomination. It’s too ambiguous.

    Agree 100% with what Deion is saying here. Quotas are ridiculous this year we need to have x amount of players inducted is silly, either you are qualified to be in the "exclusive" club know as the Hall of Fame or your not. It loses it prestige and magic once that stops.

      Stats always lie! Anyone can put up stats. Baseball stats are bogus someone gets 600 homeruns in 13 years and then someone 20 years into his career get 601 and that’s considered a great accomplishment? Know if you’re going to break a record you have to do it in the least amount of games that that person did it in. Playing five years longer and then beaten that record is not breaking that record. I’m sorry same thing goes with Basketball as well all time greatest score will Chamberlain did it in a lot less years then Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He’s not the whole time scores leader he just played longer. Stats live 100%. Game footage tells you who the guy was because he wasn’t on the team that ran a lot? Because he was not on the team that through a lot? Because he was not on an offense that was great? Please stats are bogus

      @a. barker yes i have, OJ played in Buffalo in a 14-game season and still got over 2000 yards, when everyone knew he was going to get the ball almost every down! He played in snow and still made over a hundred yards, one game against Dallas, the quarterback only threw three passes the entire game and one of those was to oj, and he still got 175 yards, so yeah Ortho James Simpson is the absolute best running back if not football player to ever play the game

    Brady, P Manning, Marino, Montana, Elway. If a QB don’t look right a picture next to those guys they don’t belong on the HoF. Eli doesn’t fit in with those guys.

      Not single season records either. Dan Marino holds none anymore and the most important one is a Super Bowl win, which he lost to the greatest at that time, which was Montana.

      @@Helo1able take away the super bowl argument and who are the two best qbs in nfl history? Peyton and Marino, and it's not even a question. So yes Marino deserves to be in the hall of fame. The fact is that only Peyton and Marino put up elite modern day stats consistently before rules changed to make it easy for qbs.
      If a player is considered the greatest without a ring than that player deserves to be in the hall of fame.
