In 2001, during Eurovision night, I was in another city where I did not have a TV set and my mom recorded Eurovision on a VHS cassette for me. She played the song when I called. Great memories. The story is about our love for Eurovision and my mom's love for me.
Objectively, this isn't a great song, but it comes together as an incredibly enjoyable and fun bop. Between Dave's asides ("You give it to them now!", "I guess this is party time"), Tanel's awkward knee-first dancing, and the full boy band behind them, the "we went to karaoke straight after work" outfits.. this is so charming.
For me, this is an absolute underrated entry. Firstly, it's catchy as hell. Secondly, the song is very good and these men really enjoyed in the stage. I don't really understand which part of this song that people don't like.
Not going to lie, while it's not my favorite song from 2001, I actually like it. "Everybody" gave Estonia their first win, and the song itself is cheerful and fun.
@@indoper7953 Goodbye to yesterday is a masterpiece. It is awesome and memorable yet it finished in 7th place while everybody is number one ;) But it is not only the positions. Everybody is a feeling. You listen to it and you remember that time in Eurovision history.

Even after 23 years, I am still disappointed that I literally slept through the contest and I missed my country winning. I found out about the winning at my school's bulletin board. But to be fair, I didn't even knew what Eurovision is back then. Became a fan in 2002, briefly lost interest when Austria and Israel won. And now after Switzerland won, I am not sure if I even want to watch next year's competition.
Estonia Is one of my favourite countries in Eurovision. But it won with one of the songs I like the least. I swear, I like more years where Estonia got out in the semis than this song
Greece did not want to win at Eurovision 2001 because the Greek public broadcaster ERT said it claimed that Greece did not have a suitable venue to host the contest as the OAKA basketball court was being renovated for the 2004 Olympic games.
I know there are plenty who enjoy this, and good for you, but for me this is one of the weakest songs to ever win Eurovision. The only one worse than this is the one that won the year after for Latvia (Maria N "I Wanna". Flat choruses, repetitive, terrible lyrics and awful singing. Glad We've moved away from those times and have higher expectations.

This is a sign for them to drop the song on all streaming platforms. This is the only winning song that isn't available... ❤🇪🇪
I swear, what I'd give to have it on Spotify
@@Mar_Morto Same. I want to complete my Eurovision 2001 playlist.
Unfortunately and thye are other songs that i love that aren't like frère Jacques or belgium in 77 (forgot the name) 😢😢
YES 😭😭😭 ❤
It is avalailable is you search up Estonia 2001 Eurosingers
Gonna cherish this song and victory forever, for us Estonians it was an historic moment fr 🇪🇪
Remember watching Eurovision back in 2001 with my friends and the feeling: OMG what just happened, WE WON!!!
And not even time can take away
The starlight from us, no, it won't fade!

This entire year was like watching an office karaoke night, partners welcome.
To this day i love this song and how Estonia won Eurovision for the first time in 2001!
Before TH-cam, Roblox and the year that 9/11 happened, we had this masterpiece.
Love from the UK..
Defenitely a deserved winner no matter what haters say!

Really positive song! With respect from 🇷🇺
All six of them are still alive as of today
My favorite song from Japan🇯🇵 ❤
It was a nice time.
Don’t get why so many hate this, it’s so fun and groovy! People just hate good fun, always a classic for me at least 💙🖤🤍
I was born exactly one week after they won
I was born on June 8th 2001
Not going to lie, while it's not my favorite song from 2001, I actually like it. "Everybody" gave Estonia their first win, and the song itself is cheerful and fun.
This is one of few songs from years gone by we put on to just dance and feel happy.
This song is just pure joy, love it
And Dave Benton is still the only black musician to win the Eurovision Song Contest. Not that bad a song at all. It's high time Estonia won again.
Loreen has won 2 times, she.is ethnically Moroccan
And the oldest winner ever
@@matchaa121 Dave Benton was first black person to win Eurovision.
@@matchaa121 They said "black", not arab
@trambus1144 Moroccans are Berbers btw, and "black" doesn't come in one shade only. Loreen is ethnically North AFRICAN
I know this is Iconic
The best song Estonia has sent for Eurovision ☺️
I think every song they have sent in the last 3 years is much better 😅
All Of Their Recent Entries Have Been Win-Worthy. This Just So Happens To Be The One That Has :).

It’s a great song, but I would argue 5miinust and Puuluup sent the best song by Estonia. 🇪🇪
this song just shows how the times were much better back then
One of the best winners ever
We need this on Spotify!!
One of my favourite winners. Full of good vibes and fun! 😄
Underrated winners
Thanks for so interesting and valuable video as always ❤❤❤
Guilty pleasure 😄♥️
come on everybody let's sing along!
And feel the power of a song
this song brought me to Eurovision
(it was March 2024 at that time)
Even after all these years I still have no idea how Estonia won the competition. France should have taken the first place
C’MON EVERYBODY
After 24 years Tommy Cash will bring a new victory for Estonia.
this song is sooooooooooo cute and happy. :')
I wonder if Dave Benton would announce Estonia's points next year
Tanel announced them in 2022!
His daughter did it once as well.
@@ClausMichaelFasting What would be interesting, if Dave's daughter Sissi gets elected to perform in Eurovision and she wins.
Nah, Marko Veisson would be a better choice. Dude is iconic already.
i can imagine if Tanel's sister Gerli would announce the Estonian points either way in 2025
I was 11 year old❤
Do greece 2001 nextt😭😭
These guys are awsome. Thats just a fact.
this is so good song like it is 2 of 5miinustxpuuluup
Estonia sure loves sending those who love having a blast on stage 🇪🇪
Compare this music with current trends and eurovision songs. I miss 00's editions

Who cares
Know that will happen:) My request :)
I still sont understand how this came even in the top 5, let alone victory.
Because today's standard is vastly different than 20 years ago.
❤
Copenhagen 2001 Eurovision was a strong year ...
The Victory was Estonia ... But Denmark and Greece could won it to in my opinion
Väga hea laul, palju õnne Eestlased, tervitusest Türgist! Me armastame teid!
Please The Voice winner 1996 and Nocturne winner 1995
this is the best winner
Could you do 2000, 2003, 2007 & 2008?
💙🖤🤍
GOOD
😊👏👍🙌🔝🔥
It wil always be a mystery of how this won
It deserved to win, best song of the night

Excuse me Sir, but Greece was the REAL winner of Eurovision back in 2001 😢🇬🇷
I'm sorry, I love Estonia at Eurovision but... Greece, France, Sweden and Spain all had better entries...

Помню смутно это Евровидение не понимаю как эта песня попала в топ 5 и выиграла были хорошие песни других стран.
Winning Song 😴😴😴😪 oookay
I really want Estonia to win again so this trash isn’t their legacy
RIP Tanel Padar, Dave Benton & 2XL! Fly free with the angels and thank you for all the music. 💔🙏

estonias worst entry!
In my opinion the worst modern winner of Eurovision by far... 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
No. Netta is much more worse. My ears was bleeding when i heard the "Toy" song. "Everybody" is more pleasant and cozy for ears.
Oh yeah, but not Netta? Highest voted by the people, but my god such an awful song. Explains the higher dislike ratio since that video released.
What a boring song Greece should have won. 0pts from Türkiye to this song.

Don't be so rude. This is nice song. Don't worry. Greece performed amazing in that year too.
Turkey gave 12 points back then 😂😂😂
