Thanks to this video coming up on youtube, I found the original Hunting Dog Confidential podcasts. The best podcasts I have ever listened to, so glad there's more to come.
Welcome to the TH-cam- podcast world, Craig! I'm a 65-year-young hunter and overall avid outdoorsman from New Jersey, and I've been hunting in the tri-state area and Pennsylvania for many years. I've had the pleasure of hunting upland game with a variety of breeds, including German shorthaired pointers, German wirehaired pointers, English setters, Brittany spaniels, Labrador retrievers, and even beagles. And still I'm learning more and more about hunting /gun dogs. I've always been an outdoor enthusiast and have hunted and fished in a variety of terrains and environments. While I don't believe that there's a one-size-fits-all approach to hunting with dogs, I do believe that with patience and training, any breed can learn new skills. In particular, I've never subscribed to the belief that a pointing breed dog can't be trained to flush and retrieve. It may not be typical, but it's certainly possible with the right approach. That being said, I do enjoy the challenge of hunting with a German shorthaired pointer and a retrieving dog or a point/flush dog by my side. Now on to energy level of certain breeds that maintain a higher level of stamina regardless of diet and conditioning. Oh I can go on and on my new found friend. I'm excited to share my experiences and insights with you today, and I'm looking forward to getting into some questions and answers. So let's get started!,😀👍🏼 Safe & Happy Hunting TJ
Wonderful 🎉 we knew your heart was there! I can't wait for this third book. Thank you for your work that means so much to me. If only we could live to see the evolution of our dogs. But your books give us a beautiful historical perspective and an even more beautiful vision of the future
I’m really pleased this podcast is back. Cheers from Michigan PS: Did you see George Stubbs Spanish Pointer painting is expected to fetch up to $2.5 million at auction? Beautif piece
This is great - I have a copy of Volume 1 and we are ordering Volume 2! Your book is beautifual and has been an invaluable tool as a CKC Sporting judge since many of the newer breeds in Canada have very little information or breed clubs that are fully set up to support study. Also I am a second generation pointer owner, breeder, trainer in a variety of dog sports (show, obedience, field, agility and my mother was a founding member of the Pointer Club of Canada) so really excited about Volume 2!
Will you be covering Retriving breeds? I do hope so, you do such a great job on your videos. The Curly Coated Retriver would be a great place to start. I look forward to your next video.
Really interesting. Congratulations from Cyprus for the very interesting Video I liked and subscribed to, and I ordered the book for the English breeds. As an English pointer enthusiast coming from Europe, I notice some very important differences between the English pointers we have in Europe and the English pointers in the US. Can you please make a video describing and explaining these differences?
I've had terriers most of my life, but always yearned for a pointer but working was always my inhibitor, since retirement I've finally got one she is 6 the best 6 years I've had, best breed, they are the Aston Martin of the dog world, unfortunately she will be my last dog don't want to depart and leave a dog behind, enjoy life is short

My lemon pointer, Chief Little Hawk, did things in the field, and in the woods, that I've never seen another dog do. Legend.

Will you be adding the older podcasts to TH-cam as well?
Imo, the setter has a nicer nature then the English pointer.
Both can be excellent on birds but the setter has a win.
I've never met a Setter that wasn't an absolute sweetheart
But why is the music so sad in every project Upland video?
?
The trouble is some of the bunny hugging showing fraternity are spoiling the breed, breeders should only allow dogs go to those who work the dog
