As a general statement what you say is true, but in a surf lineup it’s hard as your safety is at risk when people don’t know what they are doing. At the store it’s an inconvenience if someone doesn’t follow line rules. At Pipeline it could cost you your life.

People in danger danger each other all day everyday on the roads on bicycles cutting corners in the way they do things Etc you make it sound like there's some huge level of accountability in the world. Like people don't constantly get away with all kinds of stuff. Yet in surfing they're absolutely has to be some sort of rules and regulations that some small group of bullies can enforce? Kind of silly. So basically they're like a homeowners association or something like that? They get to get all the best waves and then dictate who can ride what and what they're allowed to do LOL

Just imagine if someone collided with you on a sweet pow day that didn't know how to ski, what would you do? I'd beat the sh*t out of them, then wack them with my pole a few times!! Well at pipeline it's life and death out there!! You can't have some idiot in the lineup!!
Plus, imagine this....... on the best pow days of the year the mountain that you have a season pass at says you can't ski today because we have some out of State people that get it enjoy it!! That's what happens when a surf contest comes to the North Shore!! They used to not even let Hawaiians into the contests!!

Stick to diving. Guarantee you don't surf. Drop in on a locals wave and let's see you argue about them not owning it. You don't make it off the beach without medics carrying you off.

I realize Pipe is one of the more dangerous waves in the world and that 15 people have died there, but the mentality that you get slapped for going on a wave that someone passes up is just plain stupid. Why would you waste such a scarce resource, and do the photogs get slapped for photographing their empty wave too? How did anyone ever get waves back in those days? Worst viewpoint I've ever heard from Freddy, even if he had to be so 'careful' growing up in the lineup. Please, explain this to me so I can understand, because Freddy didn't do it for me.

  • @larryjohnny

Why not just have a line? It's the ocean and whoever gets the wave gets it.. It's not like you own the ocean, waves, or that public space. This is a lame gang like mentality and serves no good purposes. Just bully, intimidate people who want to try a surfing spot and are supporting the local economy. They should respect but just the general rules of surfing like not dropping in, snaking, or getting in the way.. But hell if they want to battle for a wave then let the winner have it. There will always be more waves, right..

And I don't want anything to do with you. Because you didn't go to school if you know what I mean. Shit you weren't even taught right or wrong with a smack ever.

don't kid yourself. People with "little to no time surfing" wouldn't even consider or be capable of paddling out at Pipe and most out there are scared shitless to attempt to paddle into one of those waves. They just want to tell there buddies at home they surfed pipe. They're little more than line up litter that you should be able to get around easy enough. You ever hear of the 80/20 rule
