Great video, very nostalgic. Mate had a X reg 1.1 Bravo II in Chrystal Green metallic over silver, it had been Ziebart rust proofed from new, so was still mint when he bought it in 1990, classy little car

Ps . Additional info) our neighbours that had the bravo2 actually had a few other fiestas in there household" a bronze fiesta that I believe was a firefly; w reg / also a silver MK1 fiesta Ghia V reg ) and there son had a succession of fiesta supersport's before graduating to a MK1 XR2 in blue) and the young lad opposite them went and bought a red supersport that he wrote off after 2 days! I often think back to all the cars that I saw when I was growing up, I've always loved cars. Thanks for another great video.

Another special edition MK1 fiesta i remember is the finesse there was a red colour one a few doors along from my late grandparents house ) i recall it had black centre cap's on the wheels) it belonged to a home help who priveously owned a MK1 fiesta ghia in bronze ) and used to buy a new ford every few years, although now retired and in advanced year's, the person in question is in good health, and now drives a bright red skoda fabia 2021 model .

Another Ford model we didn't get in Australia. The 1.0 to 1.5 litre engine size was pretty much dominated by the Japanese makers such as Toyota, Mazda, Datsun and Daihatsu. The Mk I Fiesta was certainly an elegantly simple design. In a way, not unlike the Mk I Volkswagen Golf. At the same time in Australia, the three door hatchback Mazda 323 would have been the closest thing to the Fiesta. It had more rounded styling and was still rear wheel drive in 1981, if I remember correctly. Toyota's Corolla range was still rear wheel drive. The Datsun Pulsar was front wheel drive. In 1981 my daily driver was a 993 c.c. three cylinder Daihatsu Charade five door hatchback. Frog green with round headlights. It was a basic car, but had a five speed manual transmission, and performed well because it was so light.

A neighbour of ours bought a MK1 fiesta bravo 2) it was a very late model MK1 with the black bumpers and black plastic end caps) it was a June 84 A reg. Red over silver with a silver grille at front. it had nice trim I'd say it was between a GL /Ghia spec wise, but may of had several optional extras fitted as i remember it had round spot lights above front bumper and a sunroof.

Hi, I do remember the Fiesta Bravo, my youngest brother this first car was a 1983 Y reg MK1 Fiesta 1.3 Finess in dark red and by 1982 Ford dropped the chrome bumpers and fitted black bumpers with black plastic corner caps also dropped the little 12 inch wheels and fitted 13 inch wheels identical to the Escort L, he bought this car in 1993 so it was 10 years old. We knew this car and it's owner before hand. He sold it cheap the gear box was broke but the engine ran sweet and for a 10 year old car it was in mint condition no rust or dings and about average mileage for it's age I think he paid £300 and got a gear box and linkages from a scrap yard for £70 from a MK2 1.3 Ghia and it was a 5 speed, this must have been the only MK 1 Fiesta with a 5 speed gear box, this was a great little car and he had it for 4 years and still made money when he sold it I think it went for £500. Great memories of the good little Fiesta.
As always a great video Take care

Mate of mines first car a 1.3 bravo in blue silver-kyn57x. Ragged it regularly for about six years! The 1.3 was quite a nippy motor.

I have this exact sales brochure in my car sales brochure collection drawer in my house. I have a few thousand car sales brochures, mostly Ford, BL, Rover, Triumph, Morris, Peugeot, Renault and Citroen.

Had a bonus II as a teenager for a short while. Was actually really nice up close, looked more upmarket than your average fiesta. Keep up the good work!

Completely charming as usual. Those prices are steep. In Australia at the time you could buy a fully loaded Mazda 323/Datsun Pulsar/Mitsubishi Colt which were a size above for less (exchange rate included). Still, they would have been a really fun little jigger to get around in. It always amazes me that head restraints seemed to come late in the U.K. These were standard fare in Oz from the early - mid 70's.
Greetings from a cold, windy and wild Down Under!

Greetings and thank you for watching and commenting - I would say in general- and still today - UK new prices are steep compared to other countries- although equally I would say used prices are often cheaper.

@@quarterlight Yes! It amazing me how the arse falls out of car prices over there. In the 80's you could buy a car that was 3 - 5 years old in Oz (from a dealer) and almost pay what it was new. Even now since Covid the situation on some models is virtually the same as wait times for new cars can be long...

Be interesting to know how much an L and GL was at that time to see where it fitted in.

Looks like the Fiesta was designed without consideration of the incoming reverse light and rear fog light legislation.

I remember my Mazda Bravo ute when l owned it was very good it was a 2004 year model and it was from the time when Ford owned Mazda and there was a %100 badged engineered Ford ute and it was called the Ford Courier as for the Mark 1 Fiesta l think we got them in Australia as for the Ford Fiesta we owned a 2004 year model bought it brand new and it was awful l definitely will never buy another European or British built car stick with the ever reliable Japanese brands they are the best cars they don't break down and a lot of Australians buy the reliable brands from Japan
