No, but I think he'll stick around for the Secret Wars/Multiverse stuff a couple times and then he'll truly hang it up in my opinion. As will a few of the other legacy Marvel actors in my speculation.

Look ima put it like this, if Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves are still going at it at their old ages then Hugh Jackman can certainly pull off being Wolverine for 5 more years. I mean Hugh’s 55 but Keanu Reeves is 59 and he did the Jhon wick movies, Tom Cruise is 62 and he’s still doing mission impossible each of these franchises were equally if not even more demanding than playing Wolverine so…. And not to mention Hugh’s still younger!
It's not the same. Hugh has tons more screentime without a shirt on for his movies then someone like Keanu or Tom. He's constantly wearing muscle Ts or just being shirtless so he has a higher standard of fitness then anyone in the business

I guess it would just be hard for me to picture anyone else in the role as Wolverine and if it was played by anyone else it’d take a lot of convincing for me to go see it, plus just like RDJ is/was Ironman Hugh Jackman is Wolverine and I just personally would like to see him in the role again, at least in the next Avengers film.
He's coming back for Secret Wars. I'd bet the house on that. ""One more time" could mean one more appearance, or one more run, I'm leaning towards run. He's always said his biggest regret of not being in the MCU was not having the chance to work with Robert Downey Jr in an Avengers movie. RDJ keeps teasing his return, and rumors are that it WOULD be Secret Wars. The timing is perfect. Imagine that surprise announcement at Hall H when Fiege brings out Hugh and/or Robert Downey Jr. Wolverine will be recast after the events of Secret Wars along with other heroes, like the comics.
I don’t think anybody is expecting Hugh Jackman to play the role for another 10 years. This is obviously a 2 or 3 picture deal, this upcoming movie and the next two avengers films.

They’re doing a Secret Wars movie. Anyone who thinks Hugh, Tobey and RDJ aren’t coming back to be in that movie together are out of their damn minds.
I wouldnt have a problem with that as long as it leads to a soft reboot fir the MCU.

I agree he was adamant after Logan that he was done every time he was asked he said he was done it probably took a lot of money from the MCU to get him to come back which it did but if the movie dies as big as everybody’s expecting it to be it’s gonna be very hard for him to turn down that money as I said before if they were paying me 78 figures I will be in that gym all day every day getting in the shape
In order for the MCU to grow they have to recast a new Wolverine but they have to absolutely crush with who they pick.
It’d be nice for Jackman to show up as a variant wolverine in the Secret Wars movies but it’d be nice of him to pass the mantle down plus we have young actors who need to show off their talent in the mcu. Taron Edgerton, Jeremy White, Zac Efron, Dacre Montgomery, Milo Gibson and Shiloh Fernandez could also be potential Logan/Wolverines
If he wants to let him it’s honestly hard for me to see anyone else as Wolverine. Hell when I watched x men 97 I was shocked to not see Logan as the leader of the team that’s how used to Hugh’s Wolverine I am. Plus he just perfect as the character who cares if he’s to tall he still fits the soul of the character
No, definitely not, it’ll be sad to see him go but at the same time it’s time for him to pass the torch, the MCU is gonna be starting a brand new version of the X-Men which means you gotta bring in some fresh new young talent for these roles, maybe this time around they’ll have certain characters be a little older than others, like going back to the older Professor X and Magneto, and maybe an older Beast and Jean but for the majority of them they’re gonna be on the younger side so they can play these roles for a long time, and as much as we all love Hugh Jackman as Wolverine he simply doesn’t belong in that kind of incarnation of X-Men anymore, I know Wolverine doesn’t really age but Hugh Jackman is a veteran in this franchise, and the MCU isn’t really gonna be looking for veterans, they want the newcomers, which I like because it’ll give more up and coming actors a chance to become big, so no, as much as we all love Hugh in this role I think it’s time for a new actor to dawn the claws
It's not just the lifestyle, I'd say its mostly the pharma he'd have to use just to maintain that shape at that age. He's more ripped than most people in their 20s. In order to maintain that kind of lean mass at that 55 years old (20 years after peak body muscle composition and the begining of physical decline) he has to take so many SARMs at a MINIMUM on top of at least 4 days a week working out. He's highly likely to also be on anabolics/TRT on top of that too considering the time frame of getting back into shape in prep for this film. Taking SARMs ongoing alone is terribly taxing on the body, anabolics even more so plus the time involved and calories you'd have to consume to aid pharmaceuticals. And he's an actor on top of that body building lifestyle. That's a tough gig for anybody, let alone somebody that can afford to retire from it now.
Be thankful for what we have, don't expect him to stick around just for our sake.
It'd be cool if he stays as a sort of "Old Man Logan" that just sticks around along main Wolverine like it happens in the comics after Secret Wars. Or they could switch it up and instead have Hugh for a bit until the Secret Wars movie, then introduce and a new young Wolverine.
I do not think that ANY character from a different universe should be the main version of that character for the MCU, with Deadpool being the only possible exception, simply because of his self-awareness knowing that he is in a comic book movie. It will be good to see Hugh one more time, but after that, it is time to move on.
I actually have said this exact same thing to many people and they think I’m crazy.. while I love nostalgic actors returning for roles I think this take only makes sense!
Hugh is one of the main draws for this movie, probably will be the highest grossing movie of the year. Conversations have already been had. At a bare minimum, one more outing in Secret Wars. If we get Hugh and Tobey Maguire leading Secret Wars, I really don't care how old they are. I want to see it.

Could see him coming back in some capacity for an Avengers/Secret Wars especially with Levy directing but no way he's Wolverine in the rebooted X-Men series moving forward

Hugh Jackman was asked in a recent Variety interview if he is going to return as Wolverine in the MCU and he didn't seem against it but he also did not clarify anything. But I feel like if he had very strong feelings against him playing more Wolverine, he would have given us an answer.
Of course he wouldnt be against it. Playing wolverine is easy $20M+ paydays for him. Why would he actively stop that bag.
This is a tough one. I agree.. Wolverine, a primarily ageless character, can't be started in the MCU with a 55 year old. It just isn't reasonable. We need a 20something year old that is willing to commit themselves for 10-20 years. (assuming the MCU pushes it that far).
Sadly I think Wolverine will suffer the Superman/Christopher Reeve thing. Fans will want no other.
I agree though, this is time to replace him. With the TVA stuff it makes sense that this is the way to do it. How they do it.. who knows. But hopefully it makes sense and is a good story.

I think he'll stick around until Secret Wars, but after that, New Wolverine.
I remember that back when Logan came out, Hugh was asked in an interview whether he would have continued to play Wolverine if he was given the chance to appear in an Avengers movie. He said that if film rights were not an issue, he would have definitely considered the option because of the interesting dynamics Wolverine could have had with the Avengers.
However, as we know, getting the X-Men rights back came much later. With his current age, I think it would be impossible for him to continue playing Wolverine. Even Dave Bautista who is in his fifties has said that it became much harder to maintain his shape.
Hugh was very passionate about joining the MCU, he used to talk about how cool it would be to join The Avengers. But once Sony made a contract with Marvel for the use of Spider-Man, he practically went on a campaign to try and convince Fox to do the same thing as Sony. Glad he finally got what he wanted.
Btw performance enhancing drugs dont work the way they used to the older you get, it has to do with harmones.
My theory is that he’ll be around for the rest of the multiverse saga. Then after secret wars when the mcu mutants are properly introduced, they’ll hold off on introducing a new Wolverine until like the second or third x-men movie. That way there’s some time between what Hugh did in the multiverse saga, to now (future).
We have seen from the trailers that Logans motivation and arc is his anguish over not being able to save his world, but when or if he does THEN Logan will be able to find peace and get closure for him, and us. I've written the scene in my head and its a beautiful moment.

I mean lets be honest, Jackman is going to be in Secret Wars too. This probably shouldn't be a shock. As to what happens after that? I don't think anyone can be totally sure. Jackman claimed the break he had from Logan to this film actually made him refreshed and miss playing Wolverine, and that is the reason why he came back. I will say though that I don't agree wth the idea that jackman needed to get his goodbye in a marvel movie rather than FOX one. THere is no reason for that other than telling the world yes marvel have X-Men and the first thing they do... bring jackman back to play Wolverine.
I think Hugh Jackman could stay as "Old Man Logan", a wolverine of an alternative future universe. It has been done in the comics. And, that way, Hugh Jackman could adopt a less demanding role. He would not need to be in every movie, and he would not need to be in such an extreme physical shape.
We can have our cake and it it at the same time.
I would definitely like to see Hugh Jackman return as Wolverine in at least 3 more films. Avengers 5, Avengers Secret Wars, and a solo Wolverine movie within the MCU with Omega Red as the main villain of the movie as well as a Hulk fight with Mark Ruffalo.
Damn i love Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. It would be hard to see someone else take over yet it has to happen at some point and we the fans will grow to love that Actor whoever portrays Wolverine. Yet i want Hugh to continue as long as he can and willing...and yes bring on Real Steel 2 please

That's what I thought as well when Disney was crushing it with their casting. I really wanted to see who they would get to replace Hugh. Though with Disney's recent(ish) decisions, I don't know if I want that anymore.
I do think this would be a good chance to have an alternate Wolverine show up.
@@nimz8521 I'm starting to think that as a matter of course correction for Marvel, they had to start bringing in the mutants much earlier than they initially intended to ( I believe they meant to come after the Mutliverse saga) and so in a move, which I think was a clever one, they started to introduce the mutants in Dr Strange, Ms Marvel, X-Men '97 and now Wolverine and Deadpool and it has worked to bring excitement back. But, if the rumours I've read are true, the Fox X-Men actors are contracted for those roles until 2025 and can't be recast, hence no new actors.
Kevin has said that the MCU X-Men will be introduced in DP&W, which makes me think we'll just get the Fox actors in new suits like Hugh.
I've always said that Kevin should have given the Avengers a breather, bring in the Mutant Saga instead of the Multiverse and then bring em all back together for Secret Wars. Marvel is not just the Avengers and Disney is figuring this out now.
Hugh himself once said he would only return if he could play Wolverine in the mcu with the avengers. So I think he will stay on for a while before he gets replaced
I see him being the MCU's variant Wolverine up until Secret Wars. Secret Wars should be the swan song for all these old actors
I think he's going to stay on til the end of the multiverse sage with one of the next 2 avengers movies. Then Marvel's going to pay him $51 million dollars to do one last solo film.

I think Hugh Jackman will comeback for at least one or both Avengers movies that have already been announced. But I don't think he'll come back after that unless it is a Deadpool movie. But I think the big difference between John Krasinski and Hugh Jackman is the fact that Hugh will be in about 80% to 90% of the movie. Where as John Krasinski was only in about 10 to 15 minutes so that is why I think some where upset.

I love Hugh, but he needs to go after this movie. It's not healthy for him and Wolverine needs an actor for the next 20 years.
What if they still use Hugh, use a few more original x men , bring back Robert Downey Junior ,cap , widow and a a couple of the spidermen for secret wars then use secret wars to reboot everything and start from scratch and fresh with younger actors . This time we’ll have all of the characters to use from the very start , let’s be honest some of them are getting on in years and some of them feel that they’ve done their time and wanna move on , just a thought 🤷♂️
It makes for this movie to be his “last” wolverine movie. They can put more of a spotlight on it vs an avengers level movie where so much is happening. But then again i want to see tobey mcquire and hugh jackman portray their characters together in the mcu for a scene. We shall see wat happens
I think it's time for Hugh to hang it up after Deadpool and Wolverine. It's time to move on to an actor who can play the character. Need an entire new X-Men class. Logan was the only time they've got the character right.

My thoughts haven't changed since him returning was still basically a fantasy, as much as some people irrationally hate me saying it - if he stays on as Wolverine, it's more than likely he's a 'retired' one hanging around the mansion and maybe teaching, more likely handling X-23 whether they give her the Wolverine name along with the yellow and blue spandex or not. It's basically the one scenario everyone wins.
- We get more of him as Wolverine
- They can establish that he's been less active since this movies end, so he doesn't have to get in to the same insane shape (though maybe not full on Thor in Endgame) and can be more chill on that. Also gives him something a bit new playing Wolverine as a dad - and basically getting a taste (maybe worse) of how he was like to the others albeit no one (other than Wade maybe) able to go 'yes' if he asks "Was this what I was like?"
- It allows them to cast a younger actor for the role that can do it for 5, 10, whatever years with far fewer issues. And the team still has his role filled to a T with the character so an easy swap in.
Added bonus as it's a different character, though very similar, you side step the immediate comparisons to him that simply jumping from him to a new actor would immediately cause.
With the introduction of variants, I wouldn’t be surprised if they introduced the MCU’s real Wolverine in this film, and it not be Hugh Jackman

I felt it would be his last but then Reynolds and the director said it was Jackman who called and pitched the movie to them. And let's not forget Jackman is getting a divorce and thems are usually very costly.
He won't be around to be the new Wolverine, but he'll stick around for Secret Wars and potentially the next Avengers film.
There are ways he could still play Logan, animation and video games are the most obvious, still able to play the role just without needing to get physical in terms of prep work and stunt work.
If he was to still do it live action? Maybe a muscle suit under his clothes and let the stunt guys earn their keep for all the fights? But I'm pretty sure anyone would get sick of wearing a muscle suit all the time for filming.
With Jackman in his shape, I think now would be a good opening for him to do a Van Helsing 2.
I think they will keep Hugh until Secret War, I don’t think he will show up in other projects before then, but he’s definitely showing up in Secret War as his, & a lot of other actors, true Marvel sendoff
The way I've always taken this is that if Logan is Jackman's swan song, then Deadpool & Wolverine is the encore performance. It doesn't signal a continuation, just a little extra nugget for the fans at the end. All that to say, I agree with you, John, I don't think he'll continue in the role after this film except for MAYBE Secret Wars.
If anything, could see him doing secret wars briefly.
Never understood the Krasinski as Mr. Fantastic phenomon. Not only did I not know so many people liked Mr. Fantastic, but Krasinski (as great as he is in the office) didnt seem like the right choice for Reed. The clamor for him felt so random.

i think hugh jackman should stay for 1-2 avenger movies and have a major role in them. I do feel like his character should meet rdj and tobey maguire as well as the hulk. After that I feel like marvel should just introduce other mutants and give them the spot light. I feel like Iceman would be a critical mutant to show off!
I'm about 2 mins into the vid, so Iono what John's verdict is. But after Marvel cast Krasinski in Multiverse of Madness, I was 100% sure he'd be the new MCU Reed Richards, and part of why I thought that was they would be having the new MCU Reed not long after that film. They went ahead and cast someone else, and it wasn't that big of a deal. If they introduce a new Wolverine in 2-3 years, most folks will probably go with it as well.

Toby and Andrew showing up in Secret Wars is like a 70% chance in my opinion. In the “More Fun Stuff” version of No Way Home they released almost a year later they replaced all the “This was fun” with “Let’s do this again” and “See you next time”.
He only stays on THROUGH Secret Wars. He'll make a few appearances in other films, but they'll recast for the rebooted X-Men.
What I would really love is that Hugh stays around until he get older, Marvel get us a proper Old man Logan storyline movie and ending with Dead Man Logan giving the character a proper leave.

I'm excited for Deadpool and Wolverine, but I think Jackman needs to do what Roger Moore did with Bond and realise it's time to move on because he's getting too old for the part. I realise Old Man Logan exists, but it would be tired to retread that ground to account for Hugh's ageing.

You all are forgetting. AI. Hugh Jackman could play Wolverine forever and never have to lift another weight. AI driven Special FX can keep him young and fit and grizzled and Hugh can show up to set with a potbelly. FX are changing rapidly with AI.

First 55 is not old I'm 50 going on 51 this year and I'm in extremely bodybuilder great shape so 55 is not old there r guys and gals in my gym that are in there 60s and 70s that are in awesome shape and why do people talk about working out like its a chore are something

Because there are other things in life people find more important than spending all their waking and sleeping time getting swole and taking TRT or whatever it that keeps you jacked at 50. Chores are necessary things, interests and hobbies are things you do because YOU find them compelling. Confusion as to why other people don't is something you might want to think about. Oh I agree with you 55 is nowhere near old and while you’re in that good of shape is awesome but the only pushback I will have is that is that people do see a work out as a chore unfortunately I’m in relatively good shape myself and I hit the gym at least three times a week and it’s extremely tough to even get in the gym because of what I have going on in my life so at times it does seem like a chore and not everybody is built for it

If the X-Men don't exist in the MCU yet and post-Secret Wars they reboot the X-Men as part of the MCU, that is then the time to reboot Wolverine which would be stupid to have THAT version of Wolverine around. We already know this isn't the same version of him that is in the X-Men movies so going to yet another one that looks like him is questionable. 😊
