Many players who are interrested in survival games will have already started playing Minecraft on java way before it came out on console. Its not just that there are many ways to play. The early adopters are selectively more interrested in the premise of the game, and therefor those players are less likely to play on console.

There are also a lot of server players, new worlds created (meaning they restart the game), and people who like being peaceful.

I think as the “add ons” get more popular on Sony we will see more creative players on ps4 and ps5
