I love all of your videos! They have really helped me out with work. Could you possibly do a grammar-sentence structure video? That seems to be my biggest struggle.
Grammar in ASL is pretty confusing. I like to think of it being slightly backwards, like learning Spanish. Eventually you’ll start to know where you’re supposed to turn the words around rather than talk the way we normally would, if that helps. Or if you’ve ever watched something Star Wars, just think of Yoda talk. There’s also a video by another person, but I forget who. Just stay on TH-cam and you might want to search ASL Sentence Structure. That one really helped me. Hope this helps you! 😊🥰 ❤️
I love this TH-cam and all her videos!! Especially because if you're looking for a specific word, she tells you where it is in the (I don't really know what it's called) bottom part below the video!! Something I realized as a parent/teacher, having feelings of being excited is not always a positive thing. It has different meanings, especially for children. Of course, we usually use it to describe a good feeling related to pleasing experiences (good or bad) as adults.
Hi Leah, thanks for the kind comment! So glad you find these videos useful for learning :) Great question about double letters! I could certainly add this to my video list for the new year. In the meantime: Generally, you reproduce the letter's handshape in some way, though sometimes you may see a 'slide' movement instead. Different textbooks and different teachers give different "rules" to follow for double letters; there isn't one singular correct way. Vowels are almost always a "slide", while consonants.. you'll see a mix, and it may vary by position. Here's a good quora answer that summarizes some 'rules': www.quora.com/When-hand-spelling-ASL-how-do-you-sign-two-of-the-same-letters-like-in-good-or-steel But in your own class, use the style your teacher recommends!
thanks for all the videos it is helping me learn to sign really quick. (I'm learning even faster than my friend who is learning from a paid site so thank you) ♡😊😉😁
I'm only 12 but I know half of these signs and I want to keep learning them because we might have a deaf student in my grade and they need someone to be their friend and helper 😙😊
That's awesome that you're learning ASL to communicate with your Deaf peer ! Hope these videos help you gain some basic conversational skills :) keep up the great work!
I love your videos. Great resource to learn ASL. would it be ok to sign the topics as well for better understanding. For example this was about feelings and emotions. I think it would be easier if you signed feeling and emotions just by themselves to show. Thanks again for all of your videos and work and time 🙏🏼
Hi Turon, thanks again for sharing. As noted, it's normally to get nervous, but with more time and exposure you'll improve and gain confidence! You can also improve your skills by practicing in the mirror or even recording yourself and watching it back, to see where you can get better. Either way - don't be afraid - keep practicing in actual conversations and that fear/nervousness will begin to subside.
When expressing excitement, can most signers tell whether or not I’m touching my chest when I sign it? I wanted to know if that’s a necessary part of expressing this (and other) sign(s), because it’s kinda uncomfortable to tap my boobs (or my chest generally) with my finger tips. Most of the other signs I’ve learned that touch the chest are bigger movements (“please,” for ex.) which don’t bother me. But if it’s something I definitely need to get over to learn ASL then I’ll work on getting over it! Thanks for all you do!
Ah, good question! It's important to note that you don't need to really PRESS or POKE your chest - it shouldn't be uncomfortable. The middle finger just grazes the body, barely perceptibly. It's fine if you barely touch; the point I was emphasizing in the video is that the sign is not produced entirely in neutral space. The location of the sign is the torso.
It's funny I can sign way better than read. I worked with deaf kids for a year and then with adults with disabilities, where I signed but I had a couple students who used it for reading but didn't sign back. And now I just sign church music, but I have not really been involved in the deaf community since moving to our new town. Your videos are perfect for my level!
@@ASLMeredith THANK You!! It's a great Blessing to me, and I promised you that I will share your gifted ASL to many people. Peace & most Sincerely, Elbert

Thank YOU, June, for sharing! So great that you're learning ASL to communicate with folks in your new job!
Lol lol , because signing of the letter Y is our " Shaka " sign here in the islands. Hello, I'm fine, or surf's up! Aloha from Honolulu Hawaii
Interesting! You use the "L", not the "Y"? Tell me more!
I love your videos thank you so much very clear and you go over it from all angles it helps specially the words on the side I usually put ur videos on mute so it's more visual I'm dyslexic so hearing some words then seeing them and trying to sign gets frustrating and too difficult but putting it on mute and seeing your expressions and signs makes it so satisfying that Im actually learning it.
Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad you find these videos helpful in learning.
Hi, Meredith! I have some doubts about signing some connecting words like: as, but, of, from, to, for, by, through, if, would, could, although, on, off, into, just, and, or... I'd love a video of you signing these words. I love all your videos! Thanks to them I am learning ASL and having a great big progress. You're amazing!
Probably very late but if you have the app “mimix 3D” you type in any word you want and it shows you that word in sign language!
Thank you for sharing your sign language video You are a great tutorial for sign language.

Thank you for your lessons. You are a great teacher.
Thank YOU!
I decided yesterday, I wanted to start learning ASL so I LOVE these videos
I love your lessons! You are the best!
Something I realized as a parent/teacher, having feelings of being excited is not always a positive thing. It has different meanings, especially for children.
Of course, we usually use it to describe a good feeling related to pleasing experiences (good or bad) as adults.
This is an EXCELLENT point - thank you for sharing. You're right, so facial expression might change depending on its use.
Thank you Meredith.
Love your videos! Easy to follow. New subscriber here. I had vocal chords surgery and this is so helpful. Thank you!
Thank you, Elly! I'm glad you find these helpful for learning :) and hope you recover well from your surgery.
ASLMeredith Aww thank you so much! I appreciate you replying! Gbu 😊
Amazing! I have learned everything I know from your videos! I am wondering how you sign a word with double letters, so just a suggestion!
(I'm learning even faster than my friend who is learning from a paid site so thank you) ♡😊😉😁
Hi Zosia, thanks for your comment! I'm so glad you're learning ASL and find these useful. Great that you have a study buddy, too!
Where going to use this site with granddaughter. Aloha from Honolulu, Hawaii
This is so helpful!! Thank you so much!! Keep it up girl!!
I love your videos. Great resource to learn ASL. would it be ok to sign the topics as well for better understanding. For example this was about feelings and emotions. I think it would be easier if you signed feeling and emotions just by themselves to show. Thanks again for all of your videos and work and time 🙏🏼
this helps me so much to express my nervousness in signing to others. I do understand SL but i get really clammy when i hve to sign back
Hi Turon, thanks again for sharing.
The location of the sign is the torso.
so glad i found your channel
It's funny I can sign way better than read. I worked with deaf kids for a year and then with adults with disabilities, where I signed but I had a couple students who used it for reading but didn't sign back. And now I just sign church music, but I have not really been involved in the deaf community since moving to our new town. Your videos are perfect for my level!
Thanks for sharing your story! I'm so glad you find these videos useful :)
Your one of the best!!
Thank you, Elbert !

HI Meredith! May I ask please? How sign ASL to Lift the ban? I hope you reply me back thank you ! 🤟🏻🤟🏽
Still a super helpful video in my learning! I would be interested in hearing how some of the hard of hearing/deaf community has worked to overcome the challenge of having a face mask as it relates to expressions!
Hello!
How to sign these sentences?
Don't give up because of one bad chapter in your life.
Keep going, your story doesn't end here.
I saw these quotes in google, and I wanted to learn how to sign these sentences.
Thank you so much!
I love learning sign language. I was inspired by the tv show switched at birth I think you should watch it if you have not already.
