      He dont cover it in bullshit, just says it as it is, and makes a complex subject easy for EVERYBODY to understand.

    Hi Ben, thank you for this excellent video. Question: do you choose between pull away and swing through based on the speed of the clay? I can imagine that you use swing through on high speed clays and for the rest you use pull away?

    • @benhusthwaite9884
      @benhusthwaite9884  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@robertvaningen9519 all lead related swing through has the fastest gun but it’s the slowest method

  • @jshbryan
    @jshbryan ปีที่แล้ว

    Very silly and novice question. On the pull away method, do you fire at the first movement of pull way or once you feel you have the correct lead? Same for swing though. Are you catching the bird, firing once covered up and continuing the follow through?

    I'm an absolute beginner who is really struggling with ST and PA, but am hitting shots with ML. Your table confused me a little, can you explain why you don't get speed from ML? Surely by seeing that your lead is consistent across the swing, you have confirmation that your barrel matches the speed of the bird?

    Hi Ben. I have a question regarding why PA or ST gives the line of shoot. Yes, in croosers or towers but in a curved clay I don't see it being 100% the time. Thank you very much

  • @LexsLavrov1
    @LexsLavrov1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Best explanation I've ever had... and for free :)
    Concerning maintained lead, why it does not give a speed? If we see clay is not moving relatively to the gun, then the speed of clay is equal to the speed of the gun. I am not trying to say maintained lead is better... Reading the line IS a really hard...er than other things.

    • @benhusthwaite9884
      @benhusthwaite9884  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Алексей Лавров when you pull the trigger your gun will always be slower than the clay

    • @LexsLavrov1
      @LexsLavrov1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. But I can add more lead to compensate that... Probably... Plus pattern size makes some room for error... But thing this error is almost mandatory, which again puts maintained lead to the bottom of the list.

    As always a very good explanation from Ben, but regardless of that I disagree (shooting all three methods). If you shoot maintained correctly, it is the most unrushed method which slows the whole picture down. I don't see why the clay and the gun are not going the same speed, when you execute it right. When the line is easy on crossers, it is my method of choice. If the lines are more complicated, or a quartering clay requires a very small amount of lead, ST or PA are my choice. BTW: No skeet completion on international level will be won with ST or PA. I think it is an advantage if you can shoot ML correctly.

      @@hb950322 it’s the reason no one at the top ever use it to a world championship level
      Skeet maintained is the best method but the the worst for sporting

      OK, I'm not in a position to argue with a world champion and shooting instructor. A shooter I know recently scored 183 hits at Dornsberg, making him the best German shooter, while you scored three more with 186 hits. He shoots a lot with sustained lead, which probably cost him those 3 hits 😅
