@@NoahNowhere Thats a shame. I hate the thought of waste and so many good building supplies destroyed and just rotting away in a landfill. I just think of how many more modest sized quality homes could have been mostly built with some creativity and hard work from that one tare down.

Makes me sick that fine craftsmanship and quality materials are considered trash to be thrown in a landfill to be replaced with crap that will immediately start falling apart. I’ve seen enough videos by inspectors for new construction and it’s UNBELIEVABLE the garbage they throw together and call an $800,000 house.

As I stated on Ethan's video of this house, it belonged to an observant Orthodox Jewish family. The patriarch Mr. H, was born in Hungary and survived the Holocaust. As the founder of a real estate development and building company in the 1950s, he was instrumental in the residential development of the surrounding area. He also contributed to many Jewish education and healthcare organizations and other religious causes, in addition to being instrumental in the construction of a nearby synagogue and Jewish school. His children have taken after their father and are presently involved in several commercial development companies that built and manage many notable shopping and business plazas across Canada. Mr. H passed in 2021 at 97 leaving behind his wife, children, grandchildren, and notably over 100 great-grandchildren. His wife (13:58) likely was forced to downsize due to her age, leaving the property in the position to be developed. Since the home does not appear to have been listed for sale, the family has chosen to build a new house on the property be it for their own use, or to resell.
In the kitchen you noticed two fridges, stoves, dishwashers, sinks, etc as per Kosher requirements, there is a requirement to have separate storage/preparation/cleaning for meat and dairy.

The padded cubby would be for a Torah, the mirrored cabinet may have been for glass ware if so there is a bar hiding in that room. I am guessing this is a multi-generational home. Grandma and grandpa live in the bedroom, sitting room, kitchenette on the main floor with full access the rest of the family home. The large coat rack kitchen and open space in the basement tells me this family had company A LOT, not just for pool parties but for big meals. Makes me wonder where they all are now, to they still gather together?

Clearly from the comments, this was the home of a wealthy Jewish family. The patriarch was a successful businessman. The mezuzas on the door jams indicate they were very religious. I am going to guess the padded cubby in the office was a place to store a Torah. Written by hand, by a religious scribe, on animal skin or parchment ( I am not sure), it is a scroll of the "old testament" written in Hebrew. It would have no place in this home, as the home is not a synagogue. My conclusion is that the family would buy, at great cost, Torahs and donate them to synagogues. They would need a special blessed place to store them when waiting to be delivered. You cannot just put it in a safe. This family would be highly revered for their donations of great generosity.

Hello Noah! The "clown pad" on the floor in the basement was a crib spindle-bumper. You put it down by the mattress, all along the wooden rails, so that the little ones moving around in the crib didn't bump their heads into the hard wood.
Just want to say that I love your "real estate tours", because you show details and fixtures, and the little, interesting things about each home. You don't just zip around with your camera and make us sea-sick. This house was very cool - that basement was massive! And the pool was really neat. It saddens me to know that so many of Canada's lovely homes are being torn down just to make room for something that is simply "cookie-cutter" and boring.
Not to alarm you, but I DID hear...well...voices...in this place. These voices didn't belong to you or your friend, either. They sounded like they belonged to an angry old man. I didn't note the timestamps, because I don't know how you feel about that sort of thing. Just know that an angry old man wasn't happy to see people traipsing around in what he still believed was "his house".
Happy New Year to you, and I look forward to more of your films.

Interesting thing.....my ex boyfriend lived in Toronto in the early 80's while going to university. He lived not to far from a jewish neighborhood and he and his roommates furnished their whole apartment with the furniture that they would throw out... ..,seemed like every month some wife was redecorating, and throw out the " old" to bring in the " new"....sad that some are so wasteful 😮, but as they say...someones garbage is anothers treasure.😊

It sounded like it was going to be a gem 💎 and this didn’t disappoint! Great house, except for some of the crazy, shiny, geometric 60s wallpapers. Dizzying 😵‍💫. Thanks, Noah, for the tour.

The mirrored storage in the office is for the bar glassware. The velvet wall covering helped with sound attenuation. The owner was likely a business owner since a truly dedicated office is adjacent to the main entry. Business could be conducted at home without disturbing the rest of the family. The room across from the office would be the formal living room. Guests that are not good friends likely were not invited beyond this space. Those Fisher-Price toys probably have some collector value. The custom metallic wallpaper to the basement lets you know you are entering a completely different environment from the living quarters above. The pink bath fixtures scream 50's while the foil wallpaper is 70's disco. Those baby strollers are high end and were very expensive back in the day. Very interesting home and well done video.

Those demolition companies have a crew that will go in an strip all valuables from the home. This is most upsetting home tours you've had, anything that was wrong with the home could have been repaired. That chandelier in the entry way was probably 6-8k. What a shame, what a waste.

New build will be constructed with less taste in materials. House will lack unique charm. But worst is the erasure of family bond in time lived through cherished memories.

Certain parts of this house seems more recent than the 1960's. Wonder if it had updated? It looked so clean inside for an "abandoned" house. No dust, No cobwebs. It must not have been empty for long. Such a shame to demolish it. Wonder why so many pieces of furniture (some REALLY NICE) was left behind? Surely they will remove the many items and decor before it is destroyed.

The house has maybe been sitting un-lived in for 10-15 years, but there's tons of indicators it's not abandoned and sees periodic traffic from the couple's descendants. The outside is kept up, first thing I noticed is the shingles are all newish and solid, tree has been trimmed back recently. Cheap plastic kitchen storage containers in the basement, newer (10 years?) Ziploc bag, someone's been in there sorting thru stuff. Saw a box with what looked like a shipping label that had a QR code. The toilet (gross) should be completely evaporated if it's been sitting unused for even a year. And then, at 36:33, a calendar from 2018.
Cool trip into the past tho. I remember when this was more common back in the 80's/90's. We've become more of throw away/planned obsolescence society that tech rarely collects dust before heading to the recyclers anymore.

Those buttons you saw everywhere were for General Electric relay light control system. The thing with the two dials in the upstairs bedroom was a master control . You rotated the dial to one of the many positions and pushed it in. One dial was for on the other was for off. You could control all the lights in the house from there. If you held the dial in and rotated it, you could quickly turn all the lights on, or with the other dial off. I had a salesman’s demo kit for that system. I hooked it up to control the lights and tv in my room. That system was pure luxury in the 1960’s!
