    I’m so happy to have stumbled upon this video! Like you, I’m self taught and it’s a real process to find rare jewels like this educational, real time video. Your commentary is excellent with quality, relevant information that is so critical and important! No product, method or course fluff, no talking when unnecessary, a clear, lovely voice and mannerism. Plus a beautiful painting as well. You are such a breath of fresh air 🙂. A sincere and heartfelt thank you Cindy for providing this video 👍👍👍.

    Cindy, I’m back again to watch this video. So much inspiration and so much true in letting your work speak for itself. I have been painting fruits and flowers, mainly roses. It is a big challenge but getting there. My greatest challenge is painting white flowers. They are all different and colors vary depending on the surroundings. Best wishes and more for 2023. Blessings and take care.❤❤❤

    • @CindyProciousArtist
      @CindyProciousArtist  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, yes. White objects (and especially flowers, with their vexing translucency) are both difficult and fun to paint. I like seeing how many colors I can throw into a white object. It's definitely a challenge.

    Absolutely impressive work. Thank you for showing us your entire process from beginning to end. I love how you managed each layer and the blending of values. The lovely point of interest just amazing. Congratulations and I wish you only the best. I paint in classical style but your work is very inspiring and I will give it a try in one sitting. I would love to see you painting a white rose. I have also been painting in small boards mainly for practice, they are fun and lovely small painting. Blessings for each day and be safe. I subscribed to your channel to see more of your work. Take care.

    Just discovered your channel and you are wonderful! I immediately subscribed when you mentioned Helen Van Wyk. I’ve been binge watching her videos also. I’m 71 years old and I’m dabbling in painting. I’m using acrylics but I will invest in some oil paints as soon as I practice a little more. You definitely have the magic touch. When I think your painting is done you give it a little highlight here and there and you make it more perfect. 👍

      On the block in, it's a synthetic bristle brush. On the second layer, it's a sable flat.

    Thank you

    • @CindyProciousArtist
      @CindyProciousArtist  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I can’t remember whether I thinned the paint in the first layer with a little bit of mineral spirits - but if so, that’s the only medium I used.

    Do you use Gamsol when blocking?

    • @CindyProciousArtist
      @CindyProciousArtist  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi - I usually don't if I intend to do an alla prima painting. I want to keep the paint as "dry" as possible, so to make thin layers, I just thin it mechanically by scrubbing the paint, and spreading it thin with the brush.

    I have painted since I was a child, but never used an underpainting. Other than the extra guide, how do you find this helpful? A sincere question 😊

    • @CindyProciousArtist
      @CindyProciousArtist  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi - I think the main thing is that I get the drawing down on the canvas, cover all the white, and achieve a near approximation of the final values.
      Alla prima without the underpainting means you can't really get thick, juicy paint strokes without muddying your mixtures. I call it "sneaking up on the paint".... :P
