I've been so close buying a GH5, now I'm waiting for some samples of this beast. Autofocus continuous would be great. I'm not a professional filmmaker, more a run and gun family home movie guy, but I'm also a gear nerd. And when we go out for a walk in the park I want it to look awesome.
Emanuél Sánchez honestly the run and gunner might still want the GH5. It has amazing IBIS, it’s weather / dust sealed, freeze-proof and it’ll be better for photos
Shot by Myles leaning towards it mainly because I don’t want to wait. Can you do cinestyle with black magic or is it only the 2 flat options ? Never used a BM camera
22Minus11 me neither haha but I’m hearing it can do a regular Rec709 picture profile as well as the flat ones (and RAW obviously) so there should be a quick option to get decent colours straight out of it if you didn’t want to colour grade. One more thing to mention is its battery life- they’re saying one hour but if Phantom powering a mic 20 minutes! GH5 lasts significantly longer but it’s twice the price. All that said I love the sound of the Blackmagic’s dual native ISO which should make it better in low light than my GH5 and prores/ RAW options.
I spent an hour and a half talking with a rep there and playing with the camera, it's pretty cool. On the Pro Res Raw situation, they told me that there will be in a December update that will make it Pro Res Raw compatible. I'm not sure if anyone asked in the comments, but I thought I'd throw that out there.
Thanks for doing the bit on relevance to YT. I have been holding out for a Canon pro mirrorless (currently shooting 7D Mk II). This camera peaks my curiousity, but I've got a couple YT specific questions. 1. I like the ergonomics you pointed out, but seems like the 1.9x crop factor will make vlogging challenging (at least with my current suite of Canon lenses)? 2. For my videos, I typically am shooting 4 to 5 hours of footage, so the file size of RAW seems prohibitive for me. If you can't shoot in RAW due to file size, is it even worth looking at this camera?
Modustrial Maker this fits with a wide angle canon 10-18, tokina 11-16 or tokina 11-20 and sppedbooster or natively a MFT 7-14mm. you can use prores for most shoot and use raw for specific challenging lighting situation when white balance or exposure is harder because of mix lighting or outdoor conditions requiring more dynamic range. hopefully it will internal receive prores raw in firmware update or else there are compressed raw options with i think 1:3 and 1:4 compression ratio
Good to know. Thanks for the detailed response! I guess there are possibilities to make it work, but it rules some of the great WA zoom lenses (canon 16-35 and Tamron 15-30), so still would be on the fence.... It is really nice to see them thinking about this market. Maybe they'll release something similar without the crop factor at some point.
I’m uploading a youtuber and vlogger specific video tomorrow that will answer some of these. But with a micro 4/3 7-14 lens you’ll be wide enough for vlog. ProRes LT is available in camera and it’s a really amazing codec. Strong and robust but a good file size.
original bmpcc was meant to be 50-60 minutes battery time but was lucky to be 15-20 minutes of use. I believe the new model with canon batteries will get around 60 minutes recording/use time.
Thank you for your work. 2 questions. Can you use external monitor for manual focus? Also can you use a gimbal, ssd, external v mount battery and gimbal simulteniously?
Great video! I've watched at least 10 other videos of this camera already and I got more info in this video, of questions I actually had, than any other.
I checked it out at the NAB 2018. Most Blackmagic cameras are not very good in low light, but this one just might be the exception from what I heard. If that's the case, this is an awesome run and gun camera. I own a C300, 5D MarkIV, and the new rage...Panasonic EVA1...but I am still wanting one of these LOL
I got one and it's a great camera for sure. Its only weakness and incorrectly stated in the video is the native battery life - you get about 20 or 25 minutes of power if you're lucky. V-mount external power is a requirement if you plan to shoot without AC power and for more than 20 minutes.
You're awesome man, thank you! I never even heard BM is making BPCC v.2. I'll need to do a little bit more research to see what's what. But right now, after this video, I'm sold!
I'm loving what this camera is on paper and what it represents. I do wish that the camera could be run via usb-c battery or charge and run at the sametime.
With the 12v locking power option, how would you go about plugging in power into it? I know through the cable, but what would the cable connect into? I'm sorta new with film cameras, and am just wondering.
Comes out in September... That's enough time to grab a A7iii and this camera. Nice! They dropped the ball on the 1080 though. Lets see how Sony responds with the A7siii.
I have a canon 70D and have been seriously contemplating the Sigma 18-13 1.8 (for canon mount) which of course will fit my 7OD. If I buy this BMDPCC ver 2, what specific adaptor will I need to fit that sigma 18-35 1.8 (for canon) on this BMDPCC ver 2. Probably one of the metabones, but I have no experience or idea which is which? TIA.
This thing looks great but one concern I have is that it looks way too wide for any consumer grade gimbal systems that are currently available on the market. Do you know whether or not it can fit on any of the popular pistol styled gimbals currently out there (zhiyun crane etc)?
Can i ask is there a video record time limit or is it limitless? if it is limitless is there any issues around the sensor over heating and the camera shutting down like the sony A7s mark 2?
so i take it the sensor is built to take the usage load and wont overheat? is that why they can sell it so cheap because of the tax difference between dslr movie camera's and cinema camera's? i am a bit baffled as to how something that is such hugely high quality can sell for a grand difference of the GH5s which is an awesome camera and this BMPC is so much better than the Panasonic i'm just like what tha hell? or should i not question it and just acceopt it haha am i jinxing it lol. Hi from London england by the way.
deisgn for vloggers but no swivel screen. hmmm. does it have auto focus? hope the auto focus works good. is definitely on my list. thanks for the info. cheers
Thank you! I tried hard to get new information out there! I’m not sure about anamorphic! I forgot to ask them that. I don’t think so. They haven’t in the past.
Ya! You can use LUTS on JPEG or shoot flat. And I think you adjust shutter speed like you can on any other camera. There’s a little dial where your right index finger sits.
GH5 is usually about an hour and 30 minutes if you set the camera to sleep when not recording, the Gh4 i think was longer. The A7S and all the alpha cameras minus the latest generation, where historically known for having short battery life (I think 45 mins). The new alpha cameras all double that to about 1 and half to 2 hours. Typically larger body cameras like the C100 have far better battery life. The c100 in particular could last up to 5 hours on one battery.
Question - prores 1080p is that a worthwhile function. For instance if your content is totally being delivered to social media does it have any advantage over 4K.
If you are delivering in 1080p to highly compressed distributors, 1080p prores is an excellent codec as it will give you decent latitude for color correction/grading and very good looking color tones/gradients for a fraction of the data rate that some 4k codecs might. Prores LT is actually a very powerful codec in my experience that can deliver great results compared to the other more data heavy prores codecs, assuming you exposed decently to begin with, at a fraction of the data storage.
Even on youtube you can see the difference between 1080P and 4K. Why not use the best under any circumstance? Also with 4k you have more room to crop into the frame without losing resolution.
What about its focus system? Does it fully manual control or there is a full-time autofocus system? (this question is pretty ridiculous to some but I do need those AF) I ask this question cause I've read somewhere that this thing will just do single focus at the beginning of the video. And that is absolutely not good at all with a person who use Ronin-M like me (and it doesn't have IBIS too, right?). Or, perhaps, I will have to get GH5s instead...
Kinotika So...what does a push AF system do? (I know it's a noob/newbie question but I can't find its definition on the internet and just want to make sure)
Has anyone else done the math on bitrates and cards? It's looking like using external SSD is the only economical option, even if shooting prores. It's like 6 gigabytes per minute for cinemaDNG 4:1. If you want to shoot for an hour or more, you'll need a 500 GB card or SSD minimum.
Hello and great review... Since you mentioned Peter McKinnon and Casey Neistat and the potential to vlog with the bmpcc4k, would the AF compare to the quick AF found on the canon 1dxm2? I own the bmpcc and the AF is clunky and requires the button to be held down and the subject to be in the middle of the frame. Will the bmpcc4k give a smooth and intuitive AF without the subject remaining in the center of the frame and without the button having to stay mashed down? Thanks in advance for any insight you may have. Cheers.
When interviewing - Is it like Wi Fi or Bluetooth the same as in EVA-1 so I can adjust AF or other parameters not being forced to jump back and forth for small adjustment?
I found some sources standing that Bluetooth will be available for that function Can you guys find some more , about remote control of Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K!
hmmm 1.9X crop factor... So can we officially kill the rumor of this sharing the same sensor as the GH5S now?? But 4X crop on 120fps!!?? damn that is some serious crop for slow-mo. Might keep the GH5 for just the slow-mo stuff, and get this for other purposes. BMPCC4K + GH5/S should be a great combo.
FYI It crops because it shoots raw. To get lower resolution without processing the data (ie, what raw is) you have to do what’s called “windowing” the sensor, meaning you only record a small portion. So it makes sense that 1080p would have twice the crop of 4K, since it’s 4x the resolution :)
Hey Dave, Do you by any chance know if the BMPCC 4K has a recording limit? I shoot events, and this would be awesome to have. If you could let me know that would be fantastic. Really enjoying your videos! - Paul
Hey Dave, Thanks so much for the reply. Wow that's awesome! Do you know what resolution/frame rate is limited to the SD card? And how fast the SD card needs to be to record to? Do you know the mininimum requirements of an SSD that can be used to record to? CFast is too expensive lol, but I'm hoping the SSDs and SD cards are affordable. Thanks again! - Paul
That 4x crop at 120fps definitely put me off from buying. Shattered because i was looking forward to the 120fps for b-roll :( Back to saving for a 1dxmk2 for a couple of years then :/
please does the blackmagic pocket cinema 4k record in mov or mp4 ? not only in raw and proress ? and does it have the Continious focus in video like sony a7s ii or a7r ii
From what I'm hearing and reading, the new BMPCC will record ProRes RAW internally, but it's also nice to be able to record it externally from a device like the Atomos Ninja. It also looks like you can record RAW to an external hard drive anyway via the USB-C plug, so it's not a big deal.
Hey Dave, Thank you for making this video. I'm psyched on this camera. Do you by any chance know if an IR Cut filter is needed when using this camera? If there is IR contamination, I'm hoping Mosaic Engineering will make Anti Aliasing and Moire Filters with IR removal like they did for previous Blackmagic Cameras. Also, do you know if this camera supports LPE6 and LPE6N batteries? Thanks. - Paul
Wonderful question and a question that I asked the reps. They said that Blackmagic tends to not put IR cut filters in their cameras because it degrades the image sharpness and resolution...so it more than likely will require the use of an IR cut filter unfortunately. Hopefully it won't be as bad as the older BMPCC...but we may need to use filters again. As far as the battery..yes it works on bot LPE6 and E6N
Thanks! So no continuous AF for using it on a gimbal or anything? Any change they will open up their USB connection and also DJI follow focus to work with it?
Congrats on the 1 million Australian views on this video man! ;-)
Keep up the solid work.
DSLR Video Shooter question, how fast af on that camera?
Underrated comment, Caleb!
Haha! Thanks Caleb! It was a pleasure meeting you this week! Hopefully see you in Nashville soon 🤙
when you take a still image what can you choose what shutterspeed?
I believe so
literally bought the older BMPCC for youtube right before this was announced...
Rudy Ayoub lol. Well it doesn’t make it a bad camera! Original pocket is a great camera still. But you can always sell it
Kinotika haha I'll buy the 4k used down the line maybe. Cool video
Wanted a GH5 , this looks like an interesting pickup
22Minus11 same here. Just waiting for some sample footage to pop out from black magic
I've been so close buying a GH5, now I'm waiting for some samples of this beast. Autofocus continuous would be great. I'm not a professional filmmaker, more a run and gun family home movie guy, but I'm also a gear nerd. And when we go out for a walk in the park I want it to look awesome.

The best video I saw about this exiting camera! Bravo from France. I will buy one for shure...
Thank you so much! Yes..this is a very exciting camera!!
Hope blackmagic design is paying you for this free advertisement. you did a great job of getting me hyped.
I wish!!
Glad this'll probably be in my price point by the time I look for an upgrade, looks like a really nice camera.
Excellent review! Can't wait for this camera!
Damn, I'm stoked to see some videos on this bad boy!!
AUSTRALIAN MINUTES! I think Blackmagic is out trollin
lol ya exactly
"Maybe they're different from American minutes" instantly made my brain hurt...
So is 25p faster or slower than in europe? :)
original bmpcc was meant to be 50-60 minutes battery time but was lucky to be 15-20 minutes of use. I believe the new model with canon batteries will get around 60 minutes recording/use time.
I get 4 hours with a sony 7500 battery.
This guy is a great host! Can't wait for this camera.
Wow thanks Jack! What a great compliment I really appreciate it
XL Speedbooster works out of the box? FUCK YEAH! I'm on board.
Totally!
Cool. Great video the contacts is so good that I just subscribed to your channel to learn more. Keep it up I look forward to watching more!
Thank you so much for the subscription!
Thank you for your work. 2 questions. Can you use external monitor for manual focus? Also can you use a gimbal, ssd, external v mount battery and gimbal simulteniously?
Hi! Yes yes yes and yes
Holy Cow! I never ever wanted to go mft, and now this thing shows up.
Very good presentation. Thanks!
Get the metabones XL! Takes it to almost full frame and you can use your ef lenses
Great video! I've watched at least 10 other videos of this camera already and I got more info in this video, of questions I actually had, than any other.
Nice breakdown, thanks for sharing your early insights!
Thank you!
Respect from Russia! This is a best rewiew on bmpcc 4K
Thank you!

I first discovered your channel around the time you released your SL2 video, and you get recommended the time. Your videos are really good
Awesome! Im so glad you have been around since then and it seems like TH-cam is helping me out! Would you consider subscribing? It means a lot!
Great vid .. Blackmagic does it again. Oh and number 11 ... its not a DSLR! LOL
Haha totally!
Solid top 10. This is going to be one hell of a camera.
Thank you Dave! Great to meet you at the booth! Excited to get a cam soon... hopefully
oh hai Dave
You're awesome man, thank you! I never even heard BM is making BPCC v.2. I'll need to do a little bit more research to see what's what. But right now, after this video, I'm sold!
You bet! So glad you liked it! Ya its an amazing camera!
You get yourself a sub. Very high quality content on bmpcc 4K that I can't find from other channels. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much! I’m a geek and am active in the camera forums so I tried to answer all the questions I saw people had!
So could I plug in 2 Mics at the same time? One in the mic jack, recording on the left channel, and one in the xlr recording on the right channel?
Great question! I’m not sure.
If only Canon could have done this few years ago but Blackmagic hands down is the winner of 2018 for film maker like me!
Totally!
for 1080p 120fps you could thoretically use the bmpcc speed booster (designed for a 2.8x crop, so should help alleviate that 4x crop)
Blackmagic told me the BMPCC SB doesn't work on this camera. It gets too close to the sensor.
I have a lumix g7 with a 42.5 1.7, 25mm 1.7, kit lens, and rokinon 12mm 2.0 lens. I am totally saving up for this camera.
Perfect!
This camera looks awesome. 💯 🎥
Totally!
I'm loving what this camera is on paper and what it represents. I do wish that the camera could be run via usb-c battery or charge and run at the sametime.
Well... it’s $1250
4x crop for 120p is a lot..
remember the pricepoint bro
It is a lot! I'm sitting here thinking i need a Loawa 7.5mm for this thing!
Kai Liu yeah that put me off from considering buying it :/ no price point can justify to me a 4x crop on anything
.
$.
Does it have 4:3 aspect ratio for anamorphic?
I want to know this aswell
Carlos Perez - Film & Photo me too
Hey Dave, can you tell, is there an option to record non-crop 1080p, like 24fps or 60, or 100 ?
Ya it only crops in at the 100/120 modes
The more I see and read about it the more it looks good
Totally!
what about rolling shutter on those things ? BlackMagic 's got a good autofocus or is it only manual ? thanks
Rolling shutter performance seems to be really good. MUCH better than original BMPCC. Its push AF
Hey Dave!! Fan here from the Philippines!! Thanks for this video!! I have been a subscriber since your SL2 video was released!! Greats vids man!
Wow! Thank you EB! I really appreciate it! Thanks for being a fan!!!
Kinotika yeah Dave!! That "what's cookin'" nails it. :)
With the 12v locking power option, how would you go about plugging in power into it? I know through the cable, but what would the cable connect into? I'm sorta new with film cameras, and am just wondering.

Metabones Ultra
This thing looks great but one concern I have is that it looks way too wide for any consumer grade gimbal systems that are currently available on the market. Do you know whether or not it can fit on any of the popular pistol styled gimbals currently out there (zhiyun crane etc)?
It works on handheld gimbals
What kind of lens are compatible with the BPCC 4K use? I’m thinking of purchasing this camera over the Panasonic GH5 now 🤔
It uses mft lenses and speed boosters!
I knew they where gonna get us on the Speedbooster lol. I will def be getting this. I love the orginal pocket, so i def want to see about this.
Yessss it’s going to be great
Australian minutes meant warm weather (batteries last longer when warm)
Can i ask is there a video record time limit or is it limitless? if it is limitless is there any issues around the sensor over heating and the camera shutting down like the sony A7s mark 2?
Totally limitless. This is a video camera
so i take it the sensor is built to take the usage load and wont overheat? is that why they can sell it so cheap because of the tax difference between dslr movie camera's and cinema camera's? i am a bit baffled as to how something that is such hugely high quality can sell for a grand difference of the GH5s which is an awesome camera and this BMPC is so much better than the Panasonic i'm just like what tha hell? or should i not question it and just acceopt it haha am i jinxing it lol. Hi from London england by the way.
I have no idea haha
Hey, you think it'll fit on a zhiyun crane v2 easily? looks a little wide
Ya! I think it will. They showed examples of it on the Tilta handheld gimbal in their PR photos
thanks, I hope so. I'm seriously considering buying this when it's release.
I love this camera.
Hey! How can I get this camera? And when??
You can preorder now on B&H. Wont ship till september
deisgn for vloggers but no swivel screen. hmmm. does it have auto focus? hope the auto focus works good. is definitely on my list. thanks for the info. cheers
They are working on it. We shall see!
Great work man
Thank you Ammar!
What lens was that at the end of the video? Showing off the black magic footage
Great review, the only one bringing unknown specs of the camera so far. Well done! Do you know if it can desqueeze 1.3x anamorphic lens? Cheers, Alex
Thank you! I tried hard to get new information out there! I’m not sure about anamorphic! I forgot to ask them that. I don’t think so. They haven’t in the past.
Thanks man! The Ursa Mini has a desqueeze mode in the "Monitor" section of the camera menu. Great review, keep it up!
Can I use my old metabones speedbooster from the old pocket cinema will it fit in the new 4k pocket camera ?
Wich lens can i use with the black magic? i wanna buy one but i'm afraid of the lens... hope you can help me... :D
Depends on your needs! I’d recommend the Panasonic 12-35 f2.8 for most things.
Hello,
Do we know why we cannot use the original bmpcc speedbooster?
It would crush the sensor. The glass elements go too far in.
Can I make features film to release in theaters by this camera?
Yup!
Is it confirmed about the speed booster? Is that the one they said it’ll work with? Wanna be sure to get the right one.
Yup. Straight out of the Blackmagic Reps mouths. Both the XL and Ultra work.
Kinotika NICE!!!! Did they have one they recommended SPECIFICALLY? Thanks for the help btw.
Does that work for the APS-C EF lenses? of just full frame ones
Great review. But, please, what song did you used?
You sold me at #5! Super review btw
The micro XLR is the best feature, mini 1/4" plugs are so amateur. What took them so long to figure this out?
Totally!
Does raw fotos that i can edit in light-room? and does 4k jpg or raw?
Yes it takes raw DNG that you can use in Lightroom. And 4K jpg
You mentioned that the HDMI can only put 10 bit 4:2:2 out in 1080 .
What about 4K ,RAW output ? Great video. Precise and to the point.
Just subscribed
No raw output that I know of! Wow thank you so much!
Hdmi only puts that out but the usbc puts out full sensor
Does it save the jpegs with the LUTs? And what is the shutter speed? They legitimately have me interested
Ya! You can use LUTS on JPEG or shoot flat. And I think you adjust shutter speed like you can on any other camera. There’s a little dial where your right index finger sits.
thinking of getting this as my first video cam. Isnt 60min of battery bad? whats the average batter life on a GH5 or A7S series?
Not bad at all! Sony’s typically 30 min. GH5 is maybe an hour and a half.
C100 also does not record 4K 12 bit raw internally. I really think it is important to keep things like this in perspective when comparing tools.
oh wow.. Im definitely getting this camera
Tony Dae the c200 does and you can get about 2.5 to 3 hrs still pretty good.
Holy shit you actually did it. And during the event.
It’s all for you.
Hey man! Thanks for the coverage!
Thanks Dustin for tuning in!

Tony Dae thanks -
Thanks Tony - very helpful - Im trying to get up to speed on these codecs - only just started to read about Apple ProRes
TH-cam likes it when creators upload in 4K. So i give them what they want.
Even on youtube you can see the difference between 1080P and 4K. Why not use the best under any circumstance? Also with 4k you have more room to crop into the frame without losing resolution.
Wait, rewind the tape! What do you mean it only outputs 1080p over HDMI? So you can't use external recorders to capture 4K like the new Ninja V?
Why would you want to if this records 4K RAW internally?
Nope. Only 1080
I need this camera. When does it release?
Supposed to be in September!
What about its focus system? Does it fully manual control or there is a full-time autofocus system? (this question is pretty ridiculous to some but I do need those AF)

Push AF. No continuous AF.
Kinotika So...what does a push AF system do? (I know it's a noob/newbie question but I can't find its definition on the internet and just want to make sure)
Thanks alot for the info Varyproshot Films Official !
Just wanna know if it's gonna have that same FEEL of the last pocket camera.. NOTHING looks or feels like the previous camera, and that's what's key..
I have a feeling it will!
Those stills feature is similar with 4K/6K photo in Lumix?
Has anyone else done the math on bitrates and cards? It's looking like using external SSD is the only economical option, even if shooting prores. It's like 6 gigabytes per minute for cinemaDNG 4:1. If you want to shoot for an hour or more, you'll need a 500 GB card or SSD minimum.
can u compare it with the new A7s Mark3 plz
The BMPCC 4K isnt out yet!
Do we get the update to resolve if we already own the paid version?
I’m not sure
I've read that if you already own 14 Studio, 15 Studio will be a free upgrade.
Excellent review. Not enough difference to get me to swap from my GH5 for my use. Thanks for saving me some cash.
How many nits brightness is that 5” display?
Good question! Idk
No. 11 - It's HUGE!
No it’s not. It’s the size of a GH5
question, how fast af on that camera?
Ehhhhhh? Idk. Not fast.
ugh. no flip out screen tho. and would have loved to have a place to put the ssd.
That ganga ooyo tho at background👌
Hello and great review... Since you mentioned Peter McKinnon and Casey Neistat and the potential to vlog with the bmpcc4k, would the AF compare to the quick AF found on the canon 1dxm2? I own the bmpcc and the AF is clunky and requires the button to be held down and the subject to be in the middle of the frame. Will the bmpcc4k give a smooth and intuitive AF without the subject remaining in the center of the frame and without the button having to stay mashed down? Thanks in advance for any insight you may have. Cheers.
There is no tracking, its just a center AF system. Push AF button. BUT it will get the job done for certain types of vloggers! Thanks for the comment!
When interviewing - Is it like Wi Fi or Bluetooth the same as in EVA-1 so I can adjust AF or other parameters not being forced to jump back and forth for small adjustment?
Not sure!
I found some sources standing that Bluetooth will be available for that function Can you guys find some more , about remote control of Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K!
I dont know much about it and Im not in vegas anymore to ask them about it! Sorry!
Great review ... subscribed!!
Thank you!!
hmmm 1.9X crop factor...
No it’s the same sensor. 1.9x was because the rep was telling me the crop for UHD. DCI 4K is the same 1.85x or whatever from GH5
Hey Dave,
Do you by any chance know if the BMPCC 4K has a recording limit? I shoot events, and this would be awesome to have. If you could let me know that would be fantastic. Really enjoying your videos!
- Paul
No recording limit. Only limited by your battery or card space.
Hey Dave,
Thanks so much for the reply.
- Paul
And that frontal record button! 😋
I know!! So clever
The audio jack is 3.5 mm or 1/8 inch, not 3.8 mm.
Thank you!
Is this camera made only for video?can it take still images as well??
That 4x crop at 120fps definitely put me off from buying. Shattered because i was looking forward to the 120fps for b-roll :(
Back to saving for a 1dxmk2 for a couple of years then :/
Hei awesome page ☺ Keep it up!
Thank you!
please does the blackmagic pocket cinema 4k record in mov or mp4 ? not only in raw and proress ?
and does it have the Continious focus in video like sony a7s ii or a7r ii
It only records ProRes and Raw. No other options. No continuous focus either
Im really going to get this one
Is BMPCC 4k body has Autofocus ? or not?
you explained every thing expect Auto focus of the Body ?
It has push AF. No tracking or continuous.
Hopefully someone can create an HDMI cable that transfers RAW, 'coz that new Atomos Ninja V with that ProRes RAW would be a marriage made in heaven.
Roy Saringo and you don’t think BM will allow a firmware update that will allow pro res raw?
From what I'm hearing and reading, the new BMPCC will record ProRes RAW internally, but it's also nice to be able to record it externally from a device like the Atomos Ninja. It also looks like you can record RAW to an external hard drive anyway via the USB-C plug, so it's not a big deal.
How does it feel in your hands
Great! Nice deep grip. Really comfortable and balanced with a 12-35 lens on it.
Will my metabones speedbooster still work ?
Hey Dave,
Thank you for making this video.
Hey Dave,
Thanks for the quick response. Ok I understand. Alright awesome!
- Paul
how was the Autofocus?
Fine! Very similar to the original pocket. Just push button focus.
Thanks! So no continuous AF for using it on a gimbal or anything? Any change they will open up their USB connection and also DJI follow focus to work with it?
No continuous AF unfortunately, however USB interface is an interesting thought. Maybe that will be possible!
