    God bless you for helping those who are unable to take care of themselves. I am taking care of my disabled mother myself for the past 4 years since my dad suddenly died of a heartattack (they don't call it the widowmaker for nothing) on top of working 40+ hours a week. Its frustrating, annoying but at night I go in to check to make sure she's still breathing. the horror is someday going in to find her not breathing freaks me out. I figure if she took care of me all these years, its time to return the favor. (Just wish my brother and other family members would help out). I work as a cashier for the past 15+ years and its a almost all female staff (with like 4 men out of the 50+ workers) and even then some of the estrogen drama drives me nuts. I call it estrogen poisoning and always tell the newcomer men that I feel sorry for them and to just let the drama roll off their shoulders. I could tell you stories that would gross you out too but this comment is turning into a blog. LOL. thank you so much for letting others know what caregivers have to go through day to day and I hope there are more videos forthcoming, even some not so gross.

      thankm you, yeah its funny now looking back, but at the moment it was a serious situation...Im glad I could help when I did, I just wish they could have used more qualified people to do the job

      GarouLady Same thing for me. I was Mom's caregiver, my siblings didn't help. Worse was Mom's mind went with dementia and she was not cooperative. She then went into a nursing home which to me is hell on earth. She died after a couple of months in the nursing home.

      cutlerylover Sorry you had to deal with that, but it sounds kind of fucked at the same time. For profit homes/assisted living places are the worst as often the conditions are horrible. That sounds really shady if you with no medical experience are basically just thrown into doing medical type procedures on top of cleaning people. You're a good person for doing it for a while though. I'm sure the people you worked with really appreciated it. Plus.... really hot girl so there's that lol.

    Got hit by a taxi driver backing up so badly that my femur got shattered and 5 surgeons had to play "Complete the puzzle" with my bone for about ~6 hours. So now I can't get out of my bed and I understand how thankful I should be for people like you (my family and friends) who can take their time and help people in need (like myself).

    I've been at a "retirement" community for 2 months now as a marketing assistant. A handful of people have died, many have injured themselves. The average age is 90. It is also becoming the kind of community that accepts anyone and it can be emotionally hard. My "leads" are people who 3 months down the line might not even be alive and their children have to ask me to stop calling because of the death. The porters have told me about finding women dead pulling their pants up, feces all over the apartment because someone didn't realize they pooped themselves... This isn't the industry for me. It makes me think too much about getting old.

    My Zen Master was a nurse who worked in a Hospice in Connecticut and her job was to help people die. Her stories were very inspirational actually. She worked there for 25 years, and only "retired" when she was elevated to the Zen Master at my Zen school. She was exposed to death daily, and yet she was not affected by it because she was an expert in helping people pass. I was in awe of her, and I am sure your experiences were pretty difficult. My hat is off to you Jeff. I would not have been able to do what you did.

    I am in healthcare and know a lot of people that work or have work in assisted living/nursing homes; they all are short staffed and having people do things that they really are not qualified to do. Most people stay because of there duty to the patients. Some of the people that come for these facilities to hospitals are in deplorable condition due to neglect, really sad.

  • @unicornlxi

    If the girl was working above her pay grade and was about 18, she couldn't have been an LPN, maybe a nurses aide. She (and you) were not legally qualified to lance that boil. That place should probably come up to standards or be closed.

      @dwightschrute7548 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Listen here, nimrod, i called him an idiot because clearly he was trying to tell jeff to continue with his story time videos as if this was his first or he wasn't sure about how to tell stories. DUH. learn how to read.

    • @JCrook1028
      @JCrook1028 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dwight Schrute
      Well, I read it as:
      A) the poster did not know if he would like the video or not
      b) he did like the video
      c) he asked Jeff to continue doing what he does
      d) he agreed with Jeff that the worst experiences make the best stories.
      So yea, go ahead and pretend that your way of reading into things is the only way and go off half cocked and start calling people idiots. See how far that takes you in life.

    Nursing homes are extremely sad places for the most part. The deal with draining that cyst was way out of the realm of what you should've been doing. That's something that is a medical procedure and should have been done in a very sterile environment to prevent a serious infection. Obviously you didn't know at the time but that's crazy. My grandmother and aunt both worked in a nursing home for a time and I've heard some very sad stories. Those employees many times are the only connections the patients have as many of there families never visit them. It is very good of you to have helped in the way you did and I pray I never find myself in such a situation.

    Jeff I laughed all the way through. I have been crippled for 23+ years. I loved that look of awe with the new folks. Its great. I like to give them a give them a hard time for a couple minutes. Of my 23+ years of being the patient. Hell I could write a book about the stuff I have SEEN and heard. Oh the limp dick husbands were awesome lol.

    The only preconceived notion that a guy can say is that woman drama is different. Even women know that men don't do drama very much and even when they do it is not the same.
