I suspect they have not been informed of the risks of handling all that lead. Day after day. Their chance of living to age 35 is pretty small. Also their method of washing the lead sulphide into the sewer drains is not going to make the fish any better for eating.

I found that if you have enough negative plates in good condition (Usually the positives are the ones that disintegrate into mush)
you can just use the negatives to make a new battery out of!
It just takes a really long time to get them going and forming the oxide layer into the positive electrodes.
You'll want to pick the strongest ones that are the most intact to be the positive. since the positives experience the most degradation during use
it won't have as good performance as a brand new one. and self-discharge will be elevated as the negative electrodes generally are made of different construction and alloy mixture.
but it should still be enough to do real useful work!

Everything is okay except the internal cell welds , they could be more better. As the poorly welded small cross section connection may reduce maximum current transfer capability.
Solution , maybe use a self designed Spot Welder

Okay... I admire his talent and hard work, but what about his personal safety? No respirator mask, working with lead, sulfuric acid. Direct skin contact with highly toxic material, no gloves, no safety shoes. Under that scenario, he will be lucky if he get to ages 40's. That's why we get OSHA and EPA.... my two cents.
