Completely transforming this 500 000 km daily driven BMW E38

- This was one tough cookie, but I enjoyed whole process of it, I love E38s, and I really love the Orientblau metallic color, and this example with styling 37 wheels is just still looking fresh as ever. It is a daily driven car, that had many different panels painted over the years, interestingly enough, the paint shade is spot on on every single panel.. I spent many hours bringing back this car to life, and to be honest even I was surprised how it turned out at the end, the transformation was massive. Of course it could go even further, but that was not the point of this detailing session, 90-95% of defects were removed, leather and everything else was cleaned up, everything was coated, so now its ready for the owner to take it to more building sites :-D

E38 probably the best car ive ever had. 713k kilometers when i sold it. M57 engine lives long if you maintain it.

Wow, the are a fantastic engine to be fair. We didn’t get the E38 in a diesel variant in the UK market. I’ve heard of a 740d which was a V8 diesel I think ?… could be wrong… the 6 pot would be more reliable im sure! M57 is bullet proof.
Over 15 yrs ago I've had a '01 735i Orientblau Metallic (317) with cream leather interior, same rims, same seats, just a 3 spoke steering wheel. So far one of the best cars ever. Never let me down 💪

I have a 1999 735i Orientblau with original 16in rims of the same models than a 750i. 240K km drives very smoothly. Everything is original. I love it.

This car was well looked after. Look at the wheels they are like 20~30k km no more prior last detailing.
well, wheels are fairly new addition to the car as far as i remember :-) but yes, car is very well kept up

za tie roky som skusal vselico mozne, a nikdy nic nevydrzalo, ale posledne roky odkedy som to raz vyskusal, tak na plasty davam iba keramiku.. idealne ale nie tu co davas na lak, ta je urcena na farbu, ale na plasty davam Carpro Cquartz Lite a vydrzi to tam dlhsie jak na laku :-D
ale pred x rokmi som vyskusal na mojej byvalej E34 nejaku cinsku keramiku z aliexpresu a ta fungovala tiez..
The glory days of bmw. That color is absolutely gorgeous. And that leather 😭 I miss those days of supple real leather. I’m scared to even sit in my 2018 540 cause I don’t want to wrinkle up the leather.
Did you ever change the transmission oil? And what is the oil engine for those e38 90s model?
this is not my car, i only did the detailing :-) but i believe the transmission oil would have to be changed multiple times over years. but i changed oil in my gearbox in my e38, i used only original ZF parts including oil, check it out here:

thanks! no special tool, just a paint touchup pen :-) the one for this car i was able to get with the syringe type tip, and it works great, i recommend it highly
How long should I wait before polishing the touched up section?
depends on the paint, but usually in few hours you can go over it no worries. its a very small spot, so it dries quick

How safe is cleaning the engine bay with steam?? 🤔
I myself have thought about how to properly clean my hobby car from there, but I haven't dared because I'm afraid of what it will do to the electrical equipment.

that is exactly the reason why i use steam cleaning machine, it is very safe and very effective. Engines inherently should be waterproof, however i was always afraid to just hose down or pressure wash the engine because of electric shorts, etc. I saw few time that went very south :-D

you should, its really easy and effective.. and if some dirt doesnt go away, just use any all purpose cleaner in combination with steam, it will be like new :-)

What doen the most left paddle operate? Engine lid or hand brake?
the pedal is for handbrake on these :-) and there is a pulley under the light switch for releasing the handbrake
It looks stunning! To me it seems it is well cared for even before the detail, despite its age and high mileage the owner has bought Michelins, not some pos cheap chinese tyres... This is what a 7-series should look like, the successor to this (Bangle butt) was terrible, not even mentioning the current 7...!
oh yea! since it is daily driven it is very well kept up, and it had lot of money invested over the years (exactly, the michelins i noticed when the car came first time too! :-D)

sorry, but that would be pretty extensive :-D I use mostly carpro products, for polishing i use scholl s2 black paste with ninja pads, and for protection capro cquartz sic ceramic coating + carpro reload on top.
I have also one e38 1994 740il at 500.000km and it runs very good😍 bmw is more than love… maybe p*rn 😂

How much do you charge for something like this? And do you ever come to the US?
it is very independent, every car is different, depends on how bad the paint is, what should the end result be, if i am doing the interior, if the wheels are going off the car, if i am doing the enginebay, the wheel wells, if it gets ceramic coating, etc.
i have to shamefuly say i have never been to US :-( yet! :-D

well, it really is a daily driver this car, so the suspension is refurbished and the underside was protected..

All that work and still old messed up number plates. What a shame.
yea :-( unfortunately in my country it is absolutely dumb, you cant just go in the shop and buy new plates like in uk.. you would have to go to the DMV and say that your plates got stolen or something and you would have to pay 100€ per plate..

yep, it was multiple panels at different times.. but it is not a showcar, its a daily driver and it has no rust :-)

I owned a 1999 750iA Individual 10 years. I drove most of the time alone, very light use also due to speed limits here, but too many things broke and maintanance and repairs were extreme expensive. I had a 1990 Mercedes 560SEL and in 5 years just regular maintanance and no repairs whatsoever.

@@VANITY80 yes. Because of the depreciation. The first years the car was ok, although the dealership couldnt fix the climatecontrol in good working order, but after 120.000kms lots of issues came up. I owned several cars then and the only reason to keep the car was the12 cylinder engine.
