Excellent and precise review. I have very similar experience.

The watch is good, but I’m sad that it’s getting very slow. It also never got any significant software updates

If it has gotten bad you could try a factory reset to see if things improve - as you said, there isn't really much in the way of updates that should bog it down much

I know this watch is pretty old in tech world timeframes, but they're going for A$160 and I don't intend to ever pay for goods by awkwardly inverting my wrist onto an eftpos reader, nor do I like the idea of trying to reply to a message by typing on or speaking into my watch like James Bond from the 70's. I've read the GPS is intermittently poor, but I have my phone with me at all times so that's not a problem either. The no-multi-tasking thing is the only downer for me - not many folk mention this, so thanks. I'm replacing a faulty Amazfit T-Rex so the experience should be pretty much the same overall.

I think this is the right idea.
All these extra features push the price up and the battery down so it just doesn't feel as economical anymore.
Will give others a try though and see if I still end up with this or the next Amazfit / Zepp

I couldn't pick up what app you use with the GTR. I've had mine just about a long. I charge it twice a month. Only once has it not made 15 days.

The app is 'Notify for Amazfit'
If you have always on display running or are using the smaller 42mm version, the battery life will be around half unfortunately
