Interesting! A lot of people I know are moving to Nashville. I've been to Nashville several times, trying to see the same appeal that so many others talk about. It escapes me every time. This video confirms my previous impressions of Nashville. Not a fan. Memphis, however, was my home base for a short time, and I loved it.

This video is 9+ years old, I would not pass judgement on the city over it. My son went to college in Nashville, recently graduated and has decided to stay there, which means at some point my wife and I will probably be moving up there. Is it perfect? no, it has its plusses and minuses for sure but there are far worse places once could live. Here is a more current video of Nashville I shot earlier this year. th-cam.com/video/izMt60kBZXw/w-d-xo.html

@@Freewayjim - Yeah, I saw it was an older video but it didn't seem that much different than what I have seen of current Nashville. HOWEVER! I definitely will watch this more recent video you did! Thanks for including the link.

@@carriekay5987 Nashville has grown, every time I visited my sone over the last 4+ years I saw new buildings going up and new construction cranes all over the place, it's like Atlanta was in the 1980s. Hope you like the newer video.

@0marigolds: Thanks, when we were filming and sitting in traffic I was already thinking of a way to "get through it" on the video, glad it turned out good.

@mudfroggie: Unsure on overheard zooms (responded to your comment on I-24 video ) as for the transition, I wanted to try something different on this one. The easy thing to do would have been to just make a "cut" from Mile 49 to Mile 45 with an elongated transition (few seconds) but I was playing around with a new effect.

I love how three lanes of traffic blew by that gold station wagon @ 1:46.

I have lived in Nashville twice, once while I was in High school and then my dad managed a Motel 6 up there close to the downtown area.

This video shows how I-65 used to be routed. Prior to roughly five years ago, to follow I-65 North, you did what the driver in this video did, and that was to take the right side of the fork at the 2:55 mark. Now one takes the left side, putting you onto I-40W/I-65N. Another 2-3 miles, there's another fork at I-40W/I-65N (go right). That puts you onto what used to be badged (I think) I-265. There's a single exit (Rosa Parks)...past that you merge into the route seen beginning at 3:40. -SJR

Even with the east side of the loop soley being I-24 it's still a bottleneck.

I-65 is my favorite road. It connects Mobile, Alabama and Gary, Indiana. I call Nashville not only the capital of Tennessee, but also the capital of I-65. Along this interstate, there are 3 cities north of Nashville (Louisville,KY, Indianapolis, IN, and Chicago,IL) and also 3 to the south in Alabama (Birmingham, Montgomery, and Mobile). That makes Nashville in the center. The half mark between I-90 in Gary (North End) and I-10 in Mobile (South End) is the 75 mile marker just south of Nashville.

@FreewayBrent you're right.. i'm from Southamerica.. Peru... and we do have highways and interchanges... but they are smaller and the traffic is a chaos! so we can't make videos like this! haha! but that's why I like your videos... : )

Comparing this to the I-24 Chattanooga video you posted yesterday, two things you did in the I-24 video that I think would have worked well with this I-65 video (and future videos) are using zoom-ins of overhead signage at the major interchanges in the upper-middle of the video, and quicker transition when you fast-forward to a new point ahead (i.e. Mile 45 in this video).

Memphis also has a four level interchange downtown at the Mississippi river bridge on I-40. Strangely there is no other freeway connected there. At one time there was planned to be a freeway along the path of Riverside Drive and continuing north to connect to what is now state route 300 which ends at Thomas street (US 51). There are even stub ramps off the river bridge for this route. The part that would have been south of the river would have connected with I-55 South.
