This makes more sense when Mace Windu says “The Dark side of the force surrounds the chancellor” cause I knew he sensed the Dark Side around the chancellor but didn’t know he could also sense that with Anakin. Also I thought they didn’t let Anakin be a master because it was a test to see if he would have patience like a Jedi Master should have. Also I thought Mace Windu delivered the line of not ranking Anakin the rank of master cause he disliked Anakin. Especially in The Phantom Menace, Mace Windu disliked Anakin because he was the chosen one as in when Mace Windu first got his lightsaber and it glowed Purple it was unusual for the Jedi to see that and he was thought to be the Chosen One and him being 2nd next to Yoda is what helped people believe that he was the Chosen One. When Anakin came to the Jedi Temple and Mace Windu heard that Anakin may actually be the Chosen One he got jealous.
That's if anakin was smart enough to learn force heal in time if he couldn't grasp the power quick enough he would still turn to palpatine believing that the jedi didn't have the answers
If you’re wondering, the source for this amazing video is the 2005 Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith Novelization by Matthew Stover, great read!
The Jedi council never wanted him from the beginning and they made him a prime target for Sidious. The Jedi should have caught on how deep the manipulation by Palpatine went and they should have did more to help Anakin instead of treating him like an outcast and an outsider. Mace windu straight up said to obi wan that he doesn’t trust him.
Great point you made, the downside of not training him is, Palpatine gets his apprentice as a young boy, because he was aware of him by the time they make the decision to train him. This is after Obi-wan sliced Maul in half.
If the Jedi council refused him then they would be giving him to sidious on a silver platter and he would have nowhere else to go. Palpatine would then take him and train him pretending to be the father figure he never had and turn him into a Sith to hate the Jedi.
They never even wanted him from the beginning. They feared his unrealized power from a little boy. Had they let him go back to Tatooine with his mother, Sidious surely would have picked him up and took him in. Then what becomes of the Jedi?
@ which might have been the true reason why they didn’t kick him to the curb after the events of the Phantom Menace…. They now realized that the sit had survived and couldn’t risk Anakin falling to the Sith so they brought him into the order, but instead of giving him a decent master and decent training, they assigned him to Obi-Wan Kenobi the newest and least experienced knight in the order….. who also just happened to be the only living Jedi to have ever encountered a Sith. Unfortunately, Obi-Wan did not prove to be a paternal figure for Anakin being that he’s only like 10 years older than Anakin himself. Obi-Wan was never a father for Anakin, and only ever a big brother and that’s what allowed Palpatine to fill the role

Had anakin remained in the council chamber mace would have likely recommended anakin be granted the rank of master. He was already warming up to him when anakin told him about palaptine since by doing so it showed he obeyed their instructions to spy on palpatine and that he chose the jedi way over him and the darkside.
Anakin's main interest in Palpatine's story of the Sith's secrets was due to him not having access to the more advanced lessons in the Force, which he would have had access to had he been granted the rank of 'Jedi Master'. A title multiple Jedi in his era were given for far less feats then he performed throughout the Clone Wars. The Jedi made it too easy for the Sith to manipulate their (presently) only hope
I disagree anakin was a bonus for palpatine not a necessity the only reason palpatine didn't just have the jedi temple bombarded was because he wanted anakin to personally kill jedi in the temple to make him stronger in the darkside. If anakin didn't join palpatine could still execute order 66 and wipe out the jedi
@@Omnipulsar Don't forget that Anakin was very popular in the Republic despite the growing resentment towards the Jedi. And he helped & trained militia groups like Saw Gerrera's cell. If he had survived Order 66, along with other Jedi Knight/Masters he would not have killed in this alternative timeline, Palpatine would not have been able to secure complete control as easily as he did. Also instead of Just being Yoda confronting Sidious, assuming Windu's team would have been killed regardless, he would have been supported by both Anakin and Obi-Wan
You got this info based on 'what'? Cuz it makes no sense to the movie. If they felt being closer to the Chancellor was making him go further to the dark side, then why in the world would they decide to have him spy on the Chancellor? This makes no sense!
This is in the novelization of revenge of the sith, and it was a collective vote by the council to spy on Palpatine. It was a test to see if he was loyal to the jedi or conflicted because of his relationship with the chancellor.
The answer is no. Anakin had been influenced by the evil Sith Lord as a small child just as much as the Jedi influenced him. But the difference was how Petit was planted the seeds of darkness within Anakin because Anakin already harbor the first step of the dark side. Which is clear. It’s a possibility it could’ve changed things. But it’s not a high level of possibility. It’s 50-50 at best and farmers at worst. What’s funny is everything mace Windu feared, came true. When they don’t even know the fate of those closest to them. Mace window was right. This was Anakin’s ultimate test and ultimate trial. Thank you for the support, I appreciate your feedback as well. There are a lot of what if scenarios out there. Mace was right, everything he predicted came true. The biggest what if, is had they embraced Anakin from the time he got there. Not just towards the end, would it had been any different. If from a little boy Anakin felt the trust and the support of the Jedi council, and people he looked up too, would that have swayed things? That is a very deep question IMO, one of the many mistakes of what the Jedi did to support their own downfall.

@ actually it was states to be true
Ironically, if they gave him the rank of master, he wouldn’t have turned to the dark side.
Yeah but its clear they were afraid too, Anakin having access to the Jedi and Sith holocrons they had in the vault was dangerous in their eyes!
He would still have been afraid of Loosing Padme .
