He speaks facts. The tournament is most valuable early game as a training arena, not as an endgame activity. With master strike and a little defence leveling it's easy to ALWAYS win. Run, turn, counter, repeat. Easy gear, money, skills, and reputation. Nice job with the video. It's a good PSA for those that may be apprehensive to try it out.
The armor you get from it is arguably the best armor in the entire game. Amazing defense and also bonuses to your stats that help you talk with people.

I am unfamiliar with Xbox achievements (not owned one since 360) but this made me curious. Apologies if I get this wrong, it seems achievements have gamerscores of 5-100 with 1000 total for a base game? I saw that most main quest achievements have 15 and The End is 75. Are these high amounts for main quests compared with other RPGs or similar games?
When u look at the percentage of achievements unlocked on steam u can get the impression that 80-90% of players have barley did anything besides the main story line. Actually pretty sad and pathetic.
@@turismo_gaming Yea its really sad. I literally bought the game one and a half months ago and have finished it two times on normal and hardcore with all negative perks and right now I am doing me third an last playtrough for the merciful achievement. Nice! You are smashing it. Perfect timing with the sequel coming 🙂 Did you manage to get it while it was on discount? Speaking of the sequel, I am interested to see what the achievement/trophy rates will look like over time, now with a dedicated community, and I'm assuming a way more polished experience at launch. Time will tell.
@@turismo_gaming Yea i did get it while it was on discount. Also bought all DLC immediately. No regrets. :D I am also pretty excited for everything involving the second Game. ^^
I'm playing this game now on Xbox, fucking awesome game, but I had the same thought an hour ago when I got the friends without benefits one, less than 1% of gamers had this. I wonder how the calculate “gamers” it could simply mean the game was bought or downloaded and may not have even been played yet, it could explain a lot of the numbers
The armor is well worth doing the tourney all on its own- the last reward of all of them is what's arguably the best sword in the game, but honestly I'd only do the tourney for the armor. You can get the sword in a chest in the woods, so I rather do that then win like 25 or something tourneys in a row for it.
Ooh unless I'm mistaken that's the St. George sword that can be found from a treasure map? I agree about the armour, I do like that there is always an item and not just a money reward after winning the first 5 times though 🙂
I believe they took St. George's Sword out of the prize possibility. I could be mistaken but I've done the tourney about 100 times and never received it, and read it on reddit a while ago.
I have tried doing the tourney twice now and am not sure if it is bugged, both times I get to the second round and the tourney abruptly ends in failure with Black Peter's death and the guards looking for his mystery killer??
Hey. That's strange isn't it. Where is Black Peter's body? I'm assuming you didn't loot or kill any of the competitors the night before the tourney. Peter is the final round opponent the first time you do the tourney so I get how it would cancel if he died, but I don't understand how he died.
@@turismo_gaming No, I just signed up the morning of the tournament, didn't interact with any of the competitors at all. Round 1 I beat the first opponent, started Round 2 and the tournament abruptly ends with quest having failed. And Black Peter lying dead where he was standing and spectating. The guards all muttering and milling around saying where the heck did the cutthroat go and swearing vengeance on the killer. I never took the quest from the guy in Samopesh either, just decided on a whim the morning of the tournament that I should participate because I was pretty well leveled by that point. Ah well, I started a new game now anyways, I don't think it was caused by either of the two mods I was using (Spearman's Delight and Perkaholic), at least I don't see how it would be possible. I'll try it again in the new playthrough.
Thanks for sharing all the details! What a crazy bug. I wonder what would happen if you did the tourney again later, or picked up the Blacksmith quest and then did the tourney. If Peter is dead how would that work?! Have fun playing and I hope you don't run into anything crazy like this again. I play the PS4 version with DLCs on PS5 and haven't had something like this happen.
This is just an early game strategy. If you already have your bedroom at the castle, you can't stay in the fighter area. You can ask the Herald about staying until the tourney, but the option to wait isn't available.
Hi, are you referring to the room at Pirkstein (in Rattay), which is the reward for completing Baptism of Fire? In that case you are incorrect. Please check 0:16 of the video, I show the map of Rattay and you can see the bed icon. I have the bed and have no problem waiting/skipping as shown in the vid.
Possibly...do you have any issues enrolling in the tournament ordinarily? Or only when you try to skip to it? I wonder if there is any link with reputation.
@turismo_gaming no issues with the tournament otherwise. No other bugs to speak of and my reputation is in the 70s. I am on hardcore mode and this is my 5th playthrough. Never tried to skip to the next tournament before.
Thanks for the details. I wonder if it's a limitation in HC mode. My vids on KCD so far are all focused on normal. I don't have a current playline on HC mode so I can't test this immediately though 🤔
I don’t understand at all. I tried to win it like 6 times and sometimes I beat the first guy with 2 master strikes and sometimes I have to hit him with like 5 and follow up attacks too. And on the last guy the round kept going for so long I started counting the master strikes I landed and it was like 12 (plus follow up attacks) before he killed me with an unblockable kombo. I literally did no damage to him with this many hits. If you understand please tell me cuz I’m not gonna continue this game if it’s really that inconsistent which is sad cuz it looks fun
Hey it sounds like you are getting a good feel for the mechanics like master strike. If you feel like you need a bit more practice you could train more with Bernard, but if you want to stick to the tourney, here's a few ideas. First try and avoid depleting your stamina, while wearing armour your stamina can absorb some damage. If it's low, just move away from the opponent to give it some time to replenish. With master strikes keep in mind they can also master strike you (I think that's the unblockable you are referring to). If you feel overwhelmed or you are missing your timing use clinches to stop their momentum, move them into the corners and then clinch, get a hit in (ideally over head strikes), clinch, hit, repeat. Getting the Clinch Master perk will help here.
@@vajkperduk I believe their stamina works like the player. So armoured enemies like those in the tourney should similarly absorb some damage, but to be honest I hadn't thought of that question before so I'm not 100% on that.
Yes, clinching to knock the opponents back and get a hit in is a viable strategy. In the vid I recommend getting the Clinch Master perk (increases the chance of winning clinches). Also, combat will continue to get easier as you level up your skills (in case you are struggling).
Perfect block gets easier as your Defence skill increases. You can also block normally but try to manage your stamina to keep it high as that will help reduce damage. Head Cracker is a strong perk but keep in mind it doesn't work on Tourney opponents. Another tip, if you haven't already, try using a mace. The blunt damage is good against armoured opponents.
Newcomer here: What happens if I lose? Should I reload and keep doing so until I win? I just got my horse and am Supposed to travel to Neuhof when would you recommend I try out tourneys
Thanks for the question 🙂. If you lose, you would forfeit the enrolment (60g) and the lodgement (120g) if you time skipped. Early on I might reload if money is tight, and I lost early and didn't gain much xp. How confident do you feel with the combat? Without knowing your stats, I'd recommend training with Bernard to get the basics down, get some levels in a weapon type or two (I picked up maces early), and a few levels in the other combat skills. Learn masterstrike from Bernard (you have to beat him in a fight to learn it). If you don't get his explanation of how it works (I didn't), I'd check out a video that explains it. Also, pick up the Clinch Master perk. Hope that helps.
