2:55 "Facts of Life" was a TV Sitcom in the 1980's and he was quoting the show's theme song.

The moment something can not be made fun of its becomes scary. Refuse to live in fear and make fun of everything (most importantly one's self)

The Facts of Life is a theme song from a sitcom tv show from the 70s 80s appropriately titled???? You guessed it, The Facts of Life.

Could SNL make a skit like this about all religions, esp the religion of peace?

You two might get a kick out of a brilliant skit by Key and Peele called: God Visits a Prayer Group.

This show is also hosted in New York, a city which has a reputation for people being more “open and direct.” So, one can also see this as a thought experiment on what if a great religious figure were a New Yorker.

There’s a large population of atheists in this country, who asbsolutely love to rag on religion, regardless if you’re right or left, so it doesn’t get defended. Also, the large Christian population in this country has been silent the last 30 years making all of this stuff fair game essentially

You guys should watch Seinfeld, when Ellian marries an indian guy. Also there might be a documentary about Romany people that for people in India will be interested in once they see it.

American humor tends towards irreverence but at best tries to be impartial at least. Everyone/everything can be roasted.

5:26 In the US culture its not a rejection of philosophy or an insult to the true faith to make jokes.
Jokes are a completely separate thing and the intention is to find humor and make people laugh.
MANY people in the US respect the teachings of the Buddha even if we are not buddhists. Many of us respect the teachings and the concept of living in such a way to obtain enlightenment.
As an example. Most people in the US are either Christian or atheist (among many other faiths) but both of those groups of people and those who adhere to other faiths all enjoy humor because there is a cultural understanding that it is not mean spirited. There is no intended malice.
I think this is the best way to understand it. In the US, from a cultural perspective, we are joyful and seek out humor in everything and each other, and ourselves.
There is a cultural expression of humility and humbleness in this. The point of jokes about ourselves or each other is to enhance and expand the joy in the world.

Hello ❤ from america. The words from facts of life are a american sitcom in the eighties. I honestly don't think this skit is funny unless you know or have an idea of buddhism. I think the humor stems from the backwards Understanding. Thank you newly subscribed to your channel.
