Your right to get rid of all that trash on the engine and it's somehow fun feels like cost went down and value of the vehicle went up. I did same thing but went a few steps further by re doing whole engine and a whole lot of other things one leading to another not done yet by far but things are getting done. Great video!
I love to keep referring back to your video sir. You did such a great job and you address to so many issues but unfortunately I'm dealing with too. I'm currently trying to find brass plugs or caps for the exhaust manifold emission tubes
That water pump seems like it would have been an issue for ya. Nice find and yeah I have to do everything on my new 88 I just picked up. Thanks for the video man
There are electronics modules. One of them you must keep, it provides power to the electric fuel pump in the gas tank. It has "logic" so that if oil pressure goes to 0, that the fuel pump stops. That is an important safety measure if there is an accident or if the fuel line is dislodged during driving.
Another thing I'm actually curious about with these style of motorhomes; is if there a recommended way to make these coaches a single fuel pump design? Im only asking because i have Holley electric under the front door. Im wondering if its possible to get a higher psi and run only 1
great vid, I should do the same on my 1990. Can you do an instructional video the leveling jacks? Mine never seem to work right on first attempt, though I can get all 4 down eventually with trial and error. I'm sure mine work fine, and my problems are user error. If you're well educated with your jacking system, a quick video showing deployment, leveling, and raising/stowing would be greatly appreciated.
That is one that I wasn't sure if anyone was having the same issue I was having. Well consider it done. ✅ I'll put that down as a must to do. Thank you
Nice job and helpful video! If possible could you provide the power steering hoses layout. Trying to put a P30 chassis motorhome with 454 back together from a box of parts. Thank you.
I believe the high pressure hose goes from the pump straight to the hydro boost on the brakes then to the steering box then the low pressure hose (Return) goes from the box back to the pump. 🔧
good video i have a 1990 holiday rambler A L-X L going to be putting water pump on. looks like lots of cussing coming up. don't see much on holiday ramblers on Y T. THANKS.
Thank you so much for the information earlier. I sincerely appreciate it. I really love your video and i wanted to ask if you happen to know the part number or plugs used to plug the exhaust manifold air tubes please? Thank you again
76 year old backyarder here with 1986 Holiday Rambler Monitor, 454. What necessary vacuum lines are kept? What about the (vapor?) line from the fuel tank, is it sealed or left open to air? Engine idles fast after rebuilding quadjet carb, vacuum leak? Are there economical tires that are safe? After cutting off air injection pipes to exhaust manifolds I machined plugs to drive in, will tack weld for security. Replaced PS pump, master cylinder, booster, water pump, smog stripped off, brakes 100 percent rebuild, new nickel copper lines, new brake hoses, rebuild calipers, One wire alternator coming to replace dual output Lestek, may refit bracket for two one wire alts. Push rod for fuel pump rusted, no full travel. So, temporary air cylinder will replace fuel pump spring for return exercise of rod to regain range of motion, run on temporary fuel tank/electric pump. I bit off a big chunk. Several months. Changing those big ass tires by hand. Budget operation. No grease fitting on u joints, UGH. Oil seep from either trans seal or rear main seal..............But I'm back in shape. :) Thanks for video.
The only line I kept was the line from the intake to the vacuum canister to run my heat controls.. Defrost/ Heat door. Everything else I capped off. You're high idle sound live an intake gasket under the carburetor.. 🔧
I would get rid of that plastic fuel filter and run a metal one, would be good to also make a metal line going to the carb. I pulled all my smog crap off, rebuilt and tuned my quadrajet, full MSD ignition, full exhaust, and a carb spacer. About to do a low rise intake and who knows what else lol. Did you reuse your air filter assembly? If not I would be interested in buying it.
I have the same year and got the emission issue as well. Can you tell me how to engage the auto leveling system and how to make the proper sequence for turning it on. I believe someone replace the ignition switch and this is the room of the power problem. I can inject 12vdc at the back connector on the control device located on the left side of the dash panel. Once I do this I can hear what I believe is relays in the pump at rear of the back tires. My next move is to take my cheater battery and remove the connector at the air compressor and see if it works there and backwards troubleshoot from there. So any help you can give me, please do.
Amazon has pretty good carburetors for them. I wouldn't go any bigger than a 600 CFM. Your engine has a (spread bore) carb on it so if you look up 600 CFM spread bore carburetor on Amazon you should find a good one. They are only held on by 4 bolts. Easy peasy 🔧
When I did it I just planned on replacing everything i knew I was going to touch. I think the whole new distributor was what took away most of my issues I had
Another thing I'm actually curious about with these style of motorhomes; is if there a recommended way to make these coaches a single fuel pump design? Im only asking because i have Holley electric under the front door. Im wondering if its possible to get a higher psi and run only 1
You could but the electric pump would have to be closer to the tank. They only work well as fuel pushers than pullers. That's why they put two on when the lines are longer than 10 feet.

I just folded it to close it off and brazed it to seal where I pinched it together. 🔧

Just gonna be starting work on 1988 Winnebago Elandan. Sitting for 13 years

Give us an update on how she's been running !?!?

I've got a 85 establishment /p30 454 with mad vacuum leaks going on. The electrical and vacuum system looks like it was designed by a tweaker.

They're just standard exhaust manifold plugs.
This is a great video Sir. May i ask if you happen to have the belt part numbers? Thank you
Duralast #535K6 Belt.

Once it gets warmer and dryer I'll have to record me going though that and showing what else I've done under the motorhome 🔧
I have a 1985 motorhome that needs to change the carburetor how can I do that myself ?

Yeah they want to make every vehicle 100% factory. Even if it is an improvement.
Can you do a tune up on mine? Where you located?
I'm in the Akron Ohio area 🔧
I'm about to do the same thing to mine ! @holidayramblin
