Hi, when are you going to show us the front suspension when you took it into land rover with the crackes on the suspension. I look forward to it. Regards
Dear Christian & Vera, Brilliant video,as always 🎉 I also am a range rover addict Im booked in for MOT tomorrow on the old L322 td6 It’s 20 years old, tows regularly and daily dogs driver! It stinks,no back seats,no HDC button,no Low box button But we love the old girl! 20 years old in rusty Scotland 🏴 is quite an amazing feat! Oh,and the diesel heater still works! I have tried 3 audio units but they keep blowing ,so we just sing!😂❤
My L405 has spat out so many different types of warnings/alerts/notifications in the last few years so when the UK government issued a red weather alert for Storm Darragh while driving on the motorway near Bristol yesterday, the siren went off through the car speakers. Utter panic set in trying to figure out what was wrong with the car this time and Range Rover depression set in wondering if the repair will be less than £5,000, until, I heard the alert on the evening news! Only Range Rover owners know that sense of relief when you realise it doesn’t have to go back to the dealership.
Good day LR TIME Team , thanks for sharing , the repairs done on the Queen , excellent diagnosing and repairing and testing . The sensor at the review mirror , is similar to some Freelander 2 vehicles, and it’s called a “ Cabin Humidity Sensor “ , and comprises of 3 individual elements ; 1) Humidity Sensor 2) Air temperature sensor 3) Windshield Glass temperature Sensor . The combined reading of the 3 sensors , reduce the risk of misting on the windshield . This information i got from , Freelander2 repair and wiring diagram .
Every week you remind me why I don’t have a Landrover anymore in fact none of use have one in our group anymore and won’t even repair them, it’s much easier repairing tanks lol Keep up the good work.
Great video as always. 405 is such a nice car. My wife works for JLR and in our family land rovers are completely banned for purchasing. But I really love the 405.
The misting sensor is for automatic humidity and defrost control in HVAC. The diesel heater is a good feature for car camping in cold without running engine. The diesel heater preheats the engine block in freezing weather. Speaking of diesel, running a lubricant in the fuel like Marvel Mystery Oil can prevent wear in the high pressure fuel pump which is expensive and can destroy everything in its path.
Christian, you are not the only one with a Partner who has also complained about feeling drowsy/lightheaded while travelling with me in my Discovery 3. Now that I have watched this video I would say I would need to clean the vents, evaporator, heater matrix (to be replaced anyway as it’s partially blocked 😑) and then like you did carried out the cabin clean with the Ozone Machine (we have one in work), so looks like I’ve really got to do it now because I thought she wasn’t a good passenger in it but now that Vera has complained of a similar issue I have to fix it! I am fine driving my Discovery 3 but I’d be used to a lack of oxygen working with Cars on a daily basis being a BMW Technician. Great watch and a good laugh was had by the pair of us watching, Thank you!!
Christian & Vera Love your video’s My first introduction to Land Rover Series 1 was as a 7 or 8 year old visiting family friends inland Poverty Bay, East Coast New Zealand Aotearoa. Land in that area measured much more than plan view by being very often perpendicular. A bunch of kids being bounced around on those aluminum longways seats in the back was the hugest excitement for this city kid. I never lost a desire to own a 4wd. In 2007 I bought a 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado which I owned until 2023, probably 5 or 10 years longer than sensible ownership. I just enjoyed driving it so much. It had the go anywhere feel even in NZ’s largest city. For some real 4wd adventure come try some of the tracks in New Zealand - if you dare!
I could always rely on my 1999 1.8 Freelander, to break down every 6 months. I tend to think of Land Rovers as more of a hobby than a form of transport. I still like them though.
@@struanrobertson3417I remember changing the viscous coupling and carrier bearings, but it continued to chew its tyres up. Head gasket failed twice, only car I've ever sold for scrap. £8500 to £250.00 in 6 years, you've got to laugh😭🤣😭
My theory is that men in an unhappy marriage buy out of warranty Rovers - a good excuse to spend all their time in the garage. Of course in this instance they are a bonding experience good enough to make a YT channel.
Great content I love watching Sunday mornings ... always something new to learn and I'm looking forward to bring my MB C208/1999 to the workshop next month for a thorough refurbishment t will take around two months !
I also just fixed the fbh on my l320 tdv8. I knew I was faulty last winter, but like you was always too busy? in the summer to fix it. So glad it's working now. The next problem I have is no Bluetooth which I am hoping is just the module. Love you videos.
Arm & Hammer sells a product you add to the windshield sprayer that gets the mildew smell out of the HVAC air intake. We have horrible problems with dew stench in cars here in the Gulf Coast. It's some kind of fungicide additive, and it actually works if you follow the instructions and give the sprayer a squirt with the HVAC full blast set to fresh/outside air a couple times a week. Gets a little down into the AC intake box and kills the mildew
The condenser is outside and the evaporator is inside.Just saying😁. Love your perseverance at sorting out these problems.mere mortals would hang a smelly thing off the mirror to get rid of smell. Thought Vera had a back up supply of french fries hidden somewhere and that's what the smell was.😂
Hey guys, as I said previously - I did love my SDV8 Rangie, when it was all working, customer service not so much - such a shame as I was such a brand ambassador before that experience and worked with LR Experience Eastnor. Now I’m waiting to be able to order my Grenadier. Love the show :-)
Hi Guys, An Aussie here just dropping in to say, I agree with you in every aspect. If you want to own a Rangy, you need to have a deep wallet. These vehicles are magnificent! , BUT they also are prone to having major hissy fits and costing you thousands of dollars when you least expect it. I own a 2008 L320 Sport with 170000k's with the TDV6 ford Lion 2.7 power plant. I have personally forked out over $22000 AUD on it since 2018 keeping it in showroom condition. Yes I could have let all the interior parts fall to pieces but I wanted to keep it as a perfect example of a 300 series RR so I have had it re conditioned to as almost new condition inside and out. Like the L322 it is considered one of the very best Range Rovers ever built. Just a Oil change and oil filter change in Australia is $450 AUD here every 6 months. I am due a timing belt in 4 months time and that will be another $2500 AUD. I always turn it on and wait for the system checks to clear and hopefully no information light telling me something is wrong, with fingers crossed. Bottom line, putting that cost to run aside.......Would I like to trade it for something for reliable like a TOYOTA........your joking right? Nothing comes close to what these vehicles deliver as a driving experience. You literally fall in love with them and then your hooked and your broke for the rest of your life. We are a Range Rover family with a 2017 L494, 2012 L538 Evoque and a 2024 L551 Evoque ,, The family must be suckers for punishment. The L494 airbag light issue harness upgrade was done recenlty and they removed the entire interior to just to install the crossover harness. What a bad design. But as Christian says many times, Land rover do things sometimes in the strangest ways. My dream Range Rover - RRSport V8 supercharged, but not many on the roads over here. Keep up the great videos as they ae most enjoyable as always. And we all know Christian has a Toyota keyring of camera.....lol Smiles for you both from down under and merry xmas and a happy new year!
Those wheel-arch Earth points are a nightmare, it seems to be the last people look when they have electrical faults - including JLR. Nice work Christian & Vera 😀
We love our L322 TD6 she breaks, we fix it and if shes ok we enjoy the magnificent ride, viee and comfort. It is a way of live, not boring, witch excitment and sometimes some missery…got a love it😅😊
great work , what an overly complicated piece of inaccessible work. your tenacity continues to amaze, a simple job made difficult by impossible access, even to change the darn battery is a pain, good diagnosis work,
Lovely vehicles, but so complicated. Imagine the dealer service and repair bills to do what you did. Great video that gives you some idea of whats involved to fix these faults. Im so glad i bought my 2013 lr4 instead of 2017 L405. 18 months later and still no warning lights and everything functions properly. Now I could plug my diagnostic computer and burst my bubble of joy.... another day, may be.
Christian, reference to the misting sensor it only turns the front and rear windscreen heaters (defrost) on without any input from the driver, it comes on automatically at about 5 degrees and below it doesn’t turn the aircon on.
Hi Christian, Heater/AC smell would have been caused by previous owner - Especially if your not going to use the car for a couple of days be sure to turn off AC (keep fan running) a couple of miles before you park up. New cars / Evaporators have a coating on them that seems to get broken down by repeatedly leaving them parked up wet and once that happens that smell is hard to reduce. I Used to use Dettox ( now sold as Dettol no Odour antibacterial surface cleaner) Works as well as the expensive proffesional HVAC cleaners 😜Obviously Check your condensation Drains also. Some cars suffer bad with this and owners leave the AC on all the time which reduces the smell but makes the whole situation worse.
Great video and I agree, that Range Rover is a dream to spend time in. And Christian, you have the patience of a Saint dealing with those wires all over the place. I think I would've just blown up the car at that point.
The L405 and the L322 might be the most beautiful cars of Land Rover, one emphasizes the "boxiness" and true range rover look whilst the other starts bringing in the curves and modern approach. The newer ones just don't do it for me but maybe that will change with time. Random thought lol. Love your videos Christian and Vera , keep up the great work !
That's very strange. We have got a Chinese diesel heater that worked for a while and then burnt several fuses on the control board. We replaced the board and it had the same issue as yours initially, it only turned on the glow plugs for a couple of seconds and then turned off, but there were no issues with the circuit board. We bought another new controll unit and it has worked perfectly fine ever since. This isn't for a car it is for our workshop but a similar issue.
Usual Sunday service is resumed! Another excellent video. Oh, and I believe that the purpose of the sensor on the windscreen is to ensure that it doesn’t mist / fog up (or more correctly, it is for the vehicle to be able to detect when it is likely to mist/fog up and automatically adjust the ventilation system to prevent this happening). The same system was on late UK D4’s - isn’t it on your Mall-Crawler?
Hallo Vera und Christian. Please keep an eye on the Queens sunroof drains. The little tubes connect to the sunroof frame rust and break off. Water then drains down the B-pillar and floods the floors under the carpet. The Queen AMP in under the passenger side carpet and will short out. $12,000 repair bill here in the US. Insurance paid for the carpet, headliner, and amp, but not the replacement of the panoramic roof. My 2017 L405 Supercharged had this issue last year after heavy rain..
God bless the desktop mechanics. When old videos are published in new videos, could it be an idea to reduce the colors so the film gives the impression that it is older footage? In Norway, we have a saying that says "taking off my hat" when someone impresses. You and Vera do that all the time. Thank you for making Sunday morning so pleasant. Jostein (patrion) , Range Rover Sport 2006
The sensor you replaceed measures the windscreen moisture amount and when hvac is used in auto mode. it should direct the air to the windscreen automatically when needed.
Thanks again for another great, informative and humorous video. I am curious if the replacement knuckles are the same and likely to fail again or have been modified so they don’t fail again. I am also curious about how Christian does the wiring repairs. I would love a short tutorial video on best practice. Have you considered short videos on these types of topics. You obviously have lots of skills and experience. Thank you for all that you do.
Outstanding troubleshooting - My L322 Supercharged is getting old and troublesome - SO am I - Get one thing fixed and something else pops up - I really like the ole girl but its getting close to time to trade - Choose wisely - A 21 Defender 90 Dynamic - OR - A 24 Toyota 4 Runner - Sacrilege !!! Enjoying your videos ...
You guys should get a topdon topscan or the topscan pro. It gives me a lot of info on my 2014 Hyundai accent that’s pretty basic. I also work on my own cars so it comes in handy.
We have a funny LR4 fix of the 8HP shifter knob in line. Then the evaporator of a LR3. Then a knuckle update on the L405. Then a transfercase rebuild and a Spain trip with the LR3. Then a new car in January. Probably a „Whale“. Lol.
Another great video I love watching you. I was sad to let my Freelander face lift go and here's a shock for you the dust guards on the front brakes had rusted away so I priced new one's they are over double the price the brake discs them selves so I got some pizza pans and made some out of them
I love the number plate. The car is nice, but a lot of people here in the UK have had to get rid of their range rovers in London because they are getting stolen, and I hear of lots of faults on the Freelander 2. It has frightened me away from having one, but I still want to upgrade from my Freelander 1. Thanks for the vide
In my experience, Hella = Hella lot of problems. Every time I have an electrical /sensor / module problem with the German cars used to own (I now drive a landcruiser) they problem part always was marked 'Hella'. I replaced the hooters on my landcruiser (because I drowned the originals while crossing a river) with Hella hooters. They lasted only about 18 months before failing - no river required.
Hi Christian & Vera. Thank you for an interesting episode on the queen. We saw you pick it up from the dealer after the suspension was fixed, but I thought there may be a follow-up episode where you show us what they did? Or did they make you sign something? 😂
There will be, we just have to find the time to actually film the update. Time is very limited these days and we have to go with the footage we alteady have.🙋♀️
You have to love how resourceful and talented Christian is. I bet he's tried every head torch brand in the world
😅no, he has been using his headlamp for the ladt 20 years, and in almost all of our video shot in the winter time.🤗🙋♀️
Excellent as always. It’s lovely to see the joy in Christian’s face when he fixes the faults on the Queen.
Hi, when are you going to show us the front suspension when you took it into land rover with the crackes on the suspension. I look forward to it.

Soon hopefully. Keep in mind that he has a stressful fulltime job and we have to go by the footage we already have made. 🫣🙋♀️

It's primary role, is however to control the electric heating of the windshield.
@@rhkavli Yes. I didn't think of that too.
Have i missed the episode when you get back the queen with new front suspension ??
Yes, we have shown in a video that we got it back, but not yet the knuckles. That will come soon👍🙋♀️
@@Vera_and_Christianthanks, we are all waiting to hear about it….Christian I think Vera doesn’t like your Queen

Thank you for all that you do.
morning all, time for our LR Time Fix!
Tanks for the video.
Love the queen such a fantastic looking piece of kit inside and out
....been waiting for the queen🙂❤
You guys should get a topdon topscan or the topscan pro. It gives me a lot of info on my 2014 Hyundai accent that’s pretty basic. I also work on my own cars so it comes in handy.
Hi Vera and Christian welcome back to fixing the land rover.
DISCOVERY 4 next I hope 😊
We have a funny LR4 fix of the 8HP shifter knob in line. Then the evaporator of a LR3. Then a knuckle update on the L405. Then a transfercase rebuild and a Spain trip with the LR3. Then a new car in January. Probably a „Whale“. Lol.
Another great video I love watching you. I was sad to let my Freelander face lift go and here's a shock for you the dust guards on the front brakes had rusted away so I priced new one's they are over double the price the brake discs them selves so I got some pizza pans and made some out of them
I really liked this video, thanks
I am a LR and Jaguar mechanic myself
🙏👍🙋♀️
Good morning from Scotland 🏴🏴🏴
as always very good looking forward to next video 👏
Christian, change your entertainment screen. Loads of good upgrades out there
Vera it's a code 30. Skoda yeti supreme rocks 💯🎉🎉
Thanks
Vera ....." Christian always hopes there's something that makes it last longer" 😂😂😂😂 Oooh ain't that a dig at her old man? Or was it HIS "Old man" ??
I love the number plate. The car is nice, but a lot of people here in the UK have had to get rid of their range rovers in London because they are getting stolen, and I hear of lots of faults on the Freelander 2. It has frightened me away from having one, but I still want to upgrade from my Freelander 1. Thanks for the vide
Freelander 1 is most reliable. We love that car.

Good job 👍
"There's more dirt in here than Germany has to offer".......hilarious, yet another legendary performance....
Selbst wenn es Vids von euch sind die nicht Fertig oder erfolgreich sind, Würde ich sie sofort anschauen ^^
In England we used to have the same thing with Lucas parts!
Well done fixing it.
Ive got one of those heaters on my old L320. I have no interest in using it.
