  • Hello Guys,
In this episode i show how you can clean your intercooler and install a oil catch can to prevent oil build up in the intercooler and boost pipes. Did on my navara d40 but the process is the same on the most diesel pick ups.
    Cheers

I had the exact same catch can in my d40. It worked good but the bracket mount broke. I stuck it in between the air box and fender. Padded it up with rags to stop vibration and it still goes well. Do a egr block off too.

Awesome video Frank. I’m in the middle of replacing my turbo (seized) and found all sorts of oil through the intercooler and pipes. Found it was caused by worn seals in the turbo. Bought a new one and rebuilt the old for a spare. I will definitely put one of those baffled catch cans on. Nice work, the Nav looks great.

      Hi.
Just seen your post, I had the same issue white smoke and rough idle, turned out to be the intercooler had a split in it, replaced it and all good now.
      Hope this helps.

Hi Frank, really nice! The oil inside intercooler is quite common, it was in all my TD cars I owned - mostly turbo bearing was a bit leaking. The same I expect with my Navara, turbo worn out... well, I see, there can be other option.
How much oil did you catch from rocker cover hose after some miles?
Anyway, inside Your car is small amount of oil so far :)
Well done, must watch your other videos! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Jean. Thanks for your support I appreciate it. Was checking the catch can today and im almost finishing up 5000k km for the service, and found a pretty good amount of oil in it, lets say 200/300ml so I think it’s doing its job. But still have some vapors that manage to scape from it and go to the turbo hose but its a small amount
