To quote Walt Disney himself when I talk about the American version of this movie, “You're dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway.” While Warner Bros likely removed those to avoid a PG rating (similar to Land Before Time), that still doesn't give them the pass for being perceived as "just for kids". Maybe that's why critics were slamming this movie the entire time.

I feel like I have a vague memory of seeing the Japanese opening with the little girl and the doctor on like a DVD bonus feature thing. But it’s been so long I could be misremembering. Either way, I really enjoyed the videos.

It was a bonus feature on the DVD of the direct-to-video sequel Mewtwo Returns. The one with James' competent female counterpart.
The worst part about it was that other countries used the 4kids version of the movie.

Pokémon is a fantasy series for kids...made to market sell merch games cards in Japan...weebs seem to forget this....manga turned into an anime is no different than freaking amazing spiderman and his pals made for pre schoolers if you really think about it....I find it hilarious that people really take localization and censoring that seriously when these cartoons are made to make money off kids...kids probably shouldn't see guns in their cartoons...that's just common sense people
But kids and teens are not asking for lighthearted things!
