I have friends who drive frisians and they don’t like there Hooves like that. Is there some reason for it? That’s the first time I’ve heard of that being normal but I do jumpers/hunters etc no driving so I’m not sure🤷🏻♀️
@@equestriankaiechomambo6450 the horse probably works, they need to have hoofs that long in wide so the weight that they handle can spread across them, this is normal, notice how even though they are long they are all the long length and size
I actually asked my farrier this question (I have a Clyde who’s barefoot, and was just looking at others as you do and saw shoes like these ) apparently it’s because back in the day they needed feet as big as they could to spread their weight across the ground so they didn’t damage the fields as much, but because their feet are then so big, they had to square the toe off so they don’t trip. 🙂 hope this helps!

I only ask as I am from the UK and although there is sound reasoning in your response about tripping I find it frustrating as many of the heavy breeds are not sadly not used for their intended breeding and instead used for showing, having this type of work done on their feet leads to so many issues and this trend of shoeing or farrier work results in a greater incidence of navicular fractures and degenerative joint problems which in turn leads to a horse not being able to enjoy its life and may in turn prematurely reduce its natural life span. As the old adage goes....no foot no horse. I only hope that in turn people can educate themselves rather than adopting a trend and hopefully ending pain and suffering just because they are told its the way its done. I quote from an article I read "in North America the so-called Scotch shoe results in an almost square foot and no judge will look at a horse without these shoes" it kind of makes me think of the Cruft's saga with dogs and how breeding has affected so many breeds from the onset of this so called recognised and admired institution. Oh wow he is so extremely beautiful!! The Budweiser Clydesdales used to have lay overs for a few days where we kept our horses before that facility was sold off. Clydesdales are truly amazing, kind & powerful, riding one would is on my bucket list. ❣️🐎❣️🐎

My uncle had an all black one about 10 years ago. It was taller than me with its head bowed down a bit. I’m 6’1”. My guess is the horse with its head at a normal angle was about 6’7” or so. I never tried to mount it cuz I was scared I would fall off trying lol

Taking away a prey animal's sight is unfair and mean, the use of torture bits is wrong (do you not see how the horse is uncomfortable, never holding the metal on his tongue and gums still? No horse needs a bit, only their stupid humans do), stalls are detrimental to whole horse health, as proven by a number of studies and hundreds of thousands of private owners, and holy freaking crap, what have you done to those hooves!? My gosh, it's outrageous. Some of the worst looking feet I've ever seen, and shod on top of that. A shod horse walking on concrete sustains at least 3x the concussive force than a barefoot horse trotting on the same concrete, but there are many more reasons than just that one NOT to nail immovable metal to a flexing, functioning body part meant to absorb shock. Poor horses. I would hate to be one of them. What a miserable, misunderstood life they lead.
