Fairphone user here who was childish enough to drop his phone one time too often. Even I could repair the ENTIRE SCREEN in less than FIFTEEN minutes (which would be faster had I not taken pictures of the process). It's an old fashioned design that you can easily open. The sim card is even on the inside, very 2000s!
The indestructible brick. Dropped from the second story window unto concrete? It's fine. My best friend dropped his in the late autumn. Into a puddle. He hadn't noticed that it had fallen out of his pocket until he got home. The puddle froze solid overnight. He hacked it out of the ice the next day, let it melt, removed the battery, put it in a bag of uncooked rice to draw out the left over moisture, put it back together, charged it, and it worked fine.
I literally dropped mine front the 3rd floor in the middle of the stairwell, did several pinball moves and hit concrete. The antenna was bent and the case was scratched...but that was it.
Why did they have to put the phone in some dystopian looking water torture lab to show it's waterproof? They couldn't just spray it with a garden hose?
they are actually cross researching on a solo golden shower provisions device similar to the autoblo, and their customers simply like those sorts of patterns and movements. It's not that complex, dude.
If we want to be super honest here: it's regulation. You have to verifiably demonstrate, if you're doing it on your own, that you can meet specific standards to claim a device is a certain type of waterproof. Otherwise they can, and would, just claim it's, "100% water proof!" Despite perhaps only spritzing it with a spray bottle. If they didn't do it on their own, they'd have to ship products out of house each time for external testing which would cost more, as well. These things are there for us, the consumer, even if it looks super ridiculous. The body of testing done to meet specific consumer standards (e.g. FCC wireless communication interference standards, or waterproofing, like here) is expansive and ridiculous looking from the outside. But is highly controlled so that _we_ don't get screwed. Or, if we do, we can take them to task over false standard labels. (Not that I have a desire to defend Apple, but they're just following legal precedents. At least, that they're willing to showcase they might be doing lol.)
I had an iPhone 12, when selling it the guy that inspected it, blew through the SIM slot to check if it was water tight (e.g. the screen was replaced and not properly glued), well at this moment the screen just popped-out. The glue was dead. The guy said that i've replaced the screen and asked me where - i've denied, because of course I haven't. It was as it was brand new. So of course he refused to buy it because he thought i was lying to him... But yeah. Keep in mind that after ~2 years of usage the glue on the phone becomes stiff. It's no-longer watertight. It's garbage.Especially if you use it in your car for navigation and you keep it on the vents. The hot/ cold blowers and temperature changes are highly disliked by the glue.

Jobs was the one that started the Apple Culture of closed ecosystems, "we know better than you." and "steal other's ideas and claim them as your own". Apple is Jobs from top to the now very low bottom. The name "Apple" stolen from The Beatles. iTunes violated the agreement with the Beatles to never get into the music business. Degraded drivers in BootCamp so Window performance was compromised. Glued batteries. Slow the CPU if aftermarket batteries were installed. All while Jobs was in charge. iPods, smartphones, tablets, music services - all other peoples ideas. I like Marques but his last take on apple is obviously propaganda. I don't use apple products but i used to work to a company where i had no choice but to use them. It can't be denied that their products are user friendly, but is it really worth it spend hundreds and sometimes thousands of euros to have some standalone features that you can do without but sacrifice the basic ones or even spend more money to have them? I think the take about reparability is also bogus, if an apple product has an accident, if reparable, it costs a lot of money and when it isn't you'll have the added headache to buy a new one. Apple has built this image of being a product of 'quality' and in my country where the average wage is more or less the same as price a refurbished iphone 14, there's even some elitism. People who own apple products, believe they have the best product because it's the most expensive and has the label 'apple', even though it's overly expensive and you can find other labels who do more or less the same for cheap. Very disappointed by Marques but really not surprised, most youtubers will forget morals as long as money is on the table.
Lous is right. And this right here 1:30 is completely false, You can actually have both if the design is good and properly planned. i own a laptop from 2011 and i can upgrade it to 16gb ram with an I7(Still good today), i can add extra hdd,'s i can fix it, i can still use it issue free and i can shoot it and still get replacement parts to fix it. it haves both durability and repairability and it is designed correctly. and paper thin laptops isn't a smart idea due to bad cpu cooling and less space for larger battery and other extra's. Plus my laptop looks like its from the early 2000s and that is a good thing since it is less likely to be seen as worthy to steal. 3:34 "technology has progressed too much for that" Nope! im sorry i don't agree to that

A propaganda 😂
🤦♂
I thought Marques couldn't be bought..😔 Poor me...
Everyone has a price.
What are you talking about. He can’t.
You haven’t noticed that he’s been an Apple mouthpiece for a while now?
He's been like this for a while. You don't get interviews with Tim Cook if you aren't an Apple fanboy. Speaking as someone who likes Apple products himself
Are you a teenager?
Fairphone user here who was childish enough to drop his phone one time too often. Even I could repair the ENTIRE SCREEN in less than FIFTEEN minutes (which would be faster had I not taken pictures of the process). It's an old fashioned design that you can easily open. The sim card is even on the inside, very 2000s!
YEY For Rossman!
Rossmann*
The sarcasm... Sorry, I mean the seriousness of this video is brilliant.
Does anyone remember those Nokia phones from the 90s to the early 2000s? Those were very repairable and very durable
No one has ever verified that they were repairable because they are unbreakable 😂
It's not just those phones. Even early apple and Samsung phones once they went touchscreen were very repairable.
Sure, but their OS was utter bullcrap and they refused to budge. And here we are.
This was a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one! I'm subscribed on both of you, this is a nice crossover, thanks
1:17 “Green objectives”. 😂😂😂
Apple's only "green objective": Give us more of your greenbacks!
"...which is impressive cause he already talks at 2 times speed..." I LOLed.
When you have so many billions sitting around, you need creative ways to spend it.
It's Apple. Everything has to be over complicated to justify the price tag. It's more of a style than tech company these days.
Tim, buy the one sold on your own store and put it in your washing machine. If it survived, CONGRATULATION!
Ok that Brick House analogy had me pausing to laugh hahaha, that's brilliant
Seriously, this guy needs his Netflix stand-up special. 😅😂
Why ruin it?
He made some videos for the ABC (Australia) about 10 years back. Although, they weren't tech related, they were only comedy.
Just a heads up. Temperature changes are bad for most electronics. So be carrful when putting cellphones in that spot.
@@Chrisgonal i have almost fully closed the vent, I keep it slightly open just to keep the phone cool during the summer and warm during the winters.
He's getting deservedly destroyed in the comments. If Apple came out with iBoots he'd be in the thumbnail slobbering on them.

Apple DIED with Steve Jobs.
Steve Jobs is the one who started the policy of disallowing the consumer to repair/upgrade their products. That's why Wozniak left Apple. Yes, it was that long ago.
How can something that has died make so much money?
@@NatureBoy12100 ask Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, Kurt Cobain etc.
@@NatureBoy12100do u want the list? Dies means about to vanish. It takes time dear. Remember MySpace ? RadioShack? Panam? It takes time. It died, but it fails to admit it and the more it'll bully clients the quicker the grave is covered. The casket is sealed.
Even the "new" MacOS UI is a rip off of Windows Vista right down to "widgets", rounded corners and pastel colors. M processors - ARM.
Jobs was gas-lighter in chief. That culture continues to this day.

I subscribed and turned on notifications almost immediately 😂 Awesome video lol, Louis Rossmann sent me here actually 😅
Louis rossmann is the best person. Hes here to protect you and admits mistakes when made. He should get your full support

So awesome to see some crossover with Louis Rossmann. Two great channels.
3:34 "technology has progressed too much for that" Nope! im sorry i don't agree to that
I mean, isn't that the point of the video? He's agreeing with Louis with a satirical rebuttal?
