I will sell it off once I don’t need it. I use it for work. This will be the only and last iPhone I will own. I already have a Samsung S23 (personal use) and the Google Pixel 8 for traveling and gaming. Gotta say, loving all the flavours of Linux these days and enjoying this Golden Era we're having with the Steam Deck (yes I own one, and it's great for my commute or if I have downtime in a public place). Gotta say, I haven't had much issues playing my library of 200+ Steam games, and using less resources and getting better performance than Windows or Mac - for free, and no worries about privacy either!

They started this with the iPod. When the iPod came out, I was playing music on my PDA using a CF memory card. Flash memory prices were dropping so it made sense to buy new CF cards for more capacity as needed. But with the iPod you had to buy a whole new music player no matter if it was HD based or flash. The business model was hugely successful. They've been milking this for ages.

Super good. As a long time Apple Fanboy (80ies) I was not aware of some things you mentioned. Great research. For the Intel vs M4: well it is a different architecture so a lot on the board is different. But for the point of illustration: yes, it would be nice to swap the CPU for a faster one of the same architecture at a later point. I did that back for my PowerPC chips in the Macs.
its like 85% of the cost on the whole board ... and so much wasted space trying to make it big enough for sockets. Even new Intel chips made similarly are not replaceable or upgradable.
@@AyaWetts This is not a difficult problem to solve though. Instead of swapping out the CPU, swap out the logic board. Support taking your M1 Mac and put a M4 logic board in. Also, Apple computers don't have to be so super thin all the time. Make portable computer where space is at a premium and then make desktops that you can upgrade. None of this is done because Apple makes money off of people disposing of their products and buying all new again.

The upside down loading of the Apple mouse is to prevent it from being used after the batteries become unable to hold a charge, if the charge port has been in the front it could still be used as a wired mouse.
Apple AI is a good feature to have, but you dont necessarily need it, at least older iPhones are still compatible with the latest software and software animations, unlike android phones with only 3 years of software updates

Apple can be a very good buy if you are careful. I purchased a 2006 MacBook Pro in 2006 for the *same* price as a comparable high-end Windows laptop. I used for nearly a full decade. I replaced it with a 2015 iMac 27" 5K, which was the same price as a Dell 5K monitor. I'm still using it, and still insanely happy with it nearly a decade on. So that's two Apple products in nearly 20 years.

I obvisouly formated the thing and reinstalled OSX, several different versions, but no luck... I vowed (very vocally in the store) to never buy an Apple product ever again, went home, installed windws 10 on the thing to tets it out... And my son is still using the damn thing to this day, without any problem... So, the only explanation I have is that OSX creates ghost hardware failures artificially when the iMac goes to "vintage" terriotory to force you to buy a new one. I kept true to my word and never braught their crap again.
People obsessed with upgrading and why do you need the upgrade? Apple mastered that and using it to their advantage, they know you will upgrade. Even if the upgrade is unnecessary.
The worst part is that whatever you choose, in a couple of years it will become unusable, as it’s no longer supported, or no longer compatible with other Apple things, even though it may be functionally in perfect condition.
