The sad thing is that I actually know people who think that the skatepark is a good solution and skaters should be happy of haveing something instead of nothing. I think i should start being more selective about people i hang out with!
London has become already a place to please tourist and wealthy people to the point that the local culture will vanish. Very sad ... as an Architect student in London I feel so disappointed at the end of the day money is more important than people what a shame ...
You're totally missing the point, the focus of this video isn't on hungerford, it's about pressing the sbc to actually engage in conversation with the LLSB campaign about preservation. It's also about the fact that the sbc seem to think the 61,000 petition signatures and 14,000 planing objections don't exist. You don't see the sbc with that kind of support.
Personally I respect all the history of southbank but I think just holding on to something that is just wasting away it pointless and I think the new grounds look better to skate. Think about all the young kids .
i'm not missing the point, really. I just see that we skateboarders have no claim to the place. nothing legal anyway. They could close it off, bring in security and tell us to piss off and that would be that. They don't even have to build a new place for us to skate, they could say "plenty of other places, go skate there". Just because we've been allowed to use it this long doesn't make it ours. You have to see both sides of the coin.
i used to skate white grounds its my local but now the pricks at southwark wont open it at all we have to climb in but its a shit hole its not looked after and even though i dont skate south bank that much because its to packed they cant just say move on every skate spot has been shut down and now an iconic piece is to be taken down its a joke
and we should be happy? like a dog thrown a bone? you missed the point, by a long way. do you skate? if you do you sure missed the point of that aswell. shame.
Well said
