Love your Grace Under Pressure poster in the background... But Power Windows is my all-time favorite album. Oh Yeah... your model... your 101 looks fantastic! The darn thing looks real! BTW- Monogram's first 1/48 F-101 came out in 1985 (same year as Power Windows ;) .
Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows and Hold Your Fire were all I listened to for years. (At least it seemed that way!) I think I burned through multiple cassettes of each. Thanks for your kind words. 😊
@@fuzzysghostmodels9840 those were my THREE picks too! Try listening to or making them into instrumentals... by canceling out Ged's voice.. amazing the things you hear that you don't when he's singing... the musicianship, artistry, and orchestration of those albums are phenomenal!!!
Thanks buddy. There is an issue with the slant on the intakes for the A/C versions that I forgot to mention. The early ones were straight up and down. It was the B that introduced the slant on the intakes.
@HammerheadModelMaking the A/C was the first that came out from the 2 kits. You will have other fitting issues that were corrected for the B version. Good luck with it
Finished product looks great on camera! Canadian Voodoo Grey FS16515 is available from LifeColor, Hataka and others. Model Master used to have one too. Eduard PE set and Master pitot adds to the end result.
I'm working on mine right as I'm texting you. Yeah it's a challenge!! What I noticed the most is that you have to use your second brain to build it. All the techniques used on other brands can not be replicated to the KittyHawk. The model won't win, and I will complete it... eventually. A couple of things you did not mention: the canopy can only be installed opened because it is crooked. I also bought the antenna from Master and also the cockpit instrument panels from Habibi in Turkey. They are similar to Quinta's but very fragile. They do fit nicely without too many issues. And another thing, I didn't like the wheels, so I bought the Reskit ones and had to modify the main gear by removing the break system that is attached to the main gear. To solidify the wheel to the gear, I installed a pin that is epoxied on and should hold without issue. As for the decals, OMG, I have seen mistakes in the past, but KittyHawk knocked it out of the park with every single piece of decal, so I bought Belcher's Bit one. If everything goes well, it should be at Heritagecon and Capcon 2025. Cheers
I have the decals for the F101 from Niagara Falls airbase ( 20 minutes from me, base is in charge of a school classmate) The monogram kit i have came incomplete, NO clear parts! being out of print they have none ....the one at the end is the one i have :)
Your Voodoo looks great - I know the struggles after fighting the -A kit. Imagine if KH just tried a little harder - this kit could have been a real winner.
A reasonable good kit in itself. Anyway the building is not straightfold (many gaps and misalignments), Some parts are not described in the instruction booklet, microspopic PE part are unuseful at all and the cockpit lack of many important details on the wall between the pilot and navigator position. Well done building of your kit
@@fuzzysghostmodels9840 lol yup, usually I have great luck on Facebook marketplace but unfortunately when it comes to the Voodoo it's crickets or previously started kits.
Thanks for the review. I am looking forward for this kit to show up in stores in EU. It was a pity that most of the details of your kit were lost because the camera was pointing the wrong way. Kinetic did mess up big with the Canadian version though. The decals are for the earlier F101Bs without the IR sensor (but there is a part to fix that) that were natural metal. Even so there are a few issues with them but I found an aftermarket supplier of RCAF/CAF decals. The decals you used in the kit you showed are for the later F101Bs that were painted light gray and had the IR sensor over the nose. Best regards from Portugal.
Have I just primed mine. It has some issues, but it’s not THAT bad with care. Given that the 101der is an awesome looking aircraft and there are not a lot of options in 1/48 for this piece of RCAF history, I think it may be worth the effort to have it on the shelf. How KH came up with a BLUE Union Jack on the Red Ensign I do not know. Aftermarket decals are a must.
@@davidkendall1614 that's great that you have gotten to the painting stage! I agree that it takes more work to get there, but there aren't many options if you want a Voodoo.
Obviously your a talented builder, with an eye for detail. I liked your delivery, earned a new subscriber.
Thank you very much for your kind words. Welcome aboard.

Good review, I've got the Voodoo A/C from kitty hawk, so this is helpful to get the first hand build knowledge, thanks for sharing!

Thank you. I was going to use Hataka, but at the time, there was no where to economically source it. I use Gunze Aqueous for 99% of my painting.

I will be at Heritagecon 2025. I hope to see it there. Good on you for not letting the kit win. 👌

That's a shame it is missing the clear parts! 😔

You are so right. Just a bit more attention and they could have created something fantastic. Congrats on actually completing the 'A' model.
Grace Under Pressure! I see what you did there!
😆
Cool model. 👍
Thanks 😊
note on the HUGE slime lights, the Canadian one doesn't have them Dane
Awesome info! Thanks 😊
Correct. I sliced them off my KittyHawk kit, rescribed and reriveted before priming.

You've nailed it on the head. It requires more attention than it should for the era of kit quality we live in.
I do need a Voodoo for my stepson's RCAF shelf.
They are a bit hard to come by at the moment.

ARE YOU MORE INTO COFFEE buying or Model kits and purchasing of them
I love my coffee while participating in all aspects of the hobby. Buying, building, painting, talking etc.
Looks nice!
It looks good but has a bunch of issues when building it.

Thanks for your feedback. Good luck with your kit when you get it.
Thanks for the intel. Hard pass. I am recovering from the Kinetic F-18C battle.
😆 Some good therapy might be needed. 😆
Hardly any issues with the Kinetic CF-18 🤷♂️
KH kits look amazing in the box. The only problem is that the fit is 70s Matchbox non-existent. And don’t dare suggest this to a KH fanboi.
I agree that the fit can be a challenge. The kit is buildable, it takes some extra work to get it to the finish line.
