    Wanted to pass along a note that Victrix confirmed their spears are now 20% thicker than older sets, a change they made in response to customer feedback on earlier kits.

    The 2 crested helmet for the strategos is a very good Idea. The last figure i have seen with it was a very old discontinued figure from wargames foundry. Great set

      Yes, this one also shows up in their Hoplite Heads kit, which is a great addition for those who have the older style hoplites but want access to that bit.

    Great review, good thoughts. The old Victrix hoplites (and republican roman) sets have very thick spears and javelins. Durability is important, but Victrix might have also wanted to thicken this kits spears relative to their newer kits in order to better blend these new hoplites with the older hoplites. Their warriors of carthage set is probably my favorite though this new kit is excellent too.

      Good points all around. I only built about half of my Warriors of Carthage set, so I’m excited to kitbash what’s left of them with this set. I agree that they’re some of the best figures I’ve seen from Victrix, which sets my expectations even higher for their mounted Medieval Knights.

    Great review, really informative. I like that the sprue has enough parts to build all models with swords. Need to get this set at some point to reinforce my greek undeads. :)

    Nice review, I've built tons of the older hoplite sets and painted them up for clients, I've had very very few issues over the years and honestly this is the set I want for my hobbing needs personally, I've used the decals and also used photostats of them onto paper glued on with white glue (pva) and honestly those actually are much easier to apply, lol do I now have tons of these decals in my decal box.
    Thanks

      Cheers, thanks for the comment. This new set is definitely superior from a modeling standpoint, and the poses much better suited to skirmish gaming (though it can be argued the old hoplites are better for R&F). Still, they’re both fantastic sets, and leave it to Victrix to make something great and then decide to redo it even better.

    18:00 I noticed that the numbers on the spears flip to "point" towards the part they are referencing (see; A26/A9/A15 vs A13/A34/A10/A31) when the "inflows" are really close to each other and it is possible to get mixed up, but not really when when they are spaced apart (see; A16/A8/A27/A12) or parts that are free use to any body (see; heads, shields, and misc parts).

    Thank you for the review, what kind of shipping rates was it to get stuff sent straight from Victrix to the US ?

    • @Dan-ds8sf
      @Dan-ds8sf  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just placed an order for 6 kits and the shipping was $17 USD for an international tracked parcel to the US, which I find to be insanely reasonable (considering it costs me that much to send a small priority box across the state). Shipping typically takes about a week.
      I highly recommend dealing with them directly if you don’t have a FLGS that carries their products, especially when they’re running sales.

      @@Dan-ds8sf Thanks for the information, I did the warlord blind box and received some Caesars legion with gladius figures. I was wanting to pick up an opposing force for a skirmish game. I was interested in trying out some Victrix models to see how they compared

      @@ristanraw9321How did you feel about the blind box in terms of contents and value?

    • @ristanraw9321
      @ristanraw9321 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Dan-ds8sf I was very happy with the box and felt like I got my money's worth. I however did not go into looking for a specific system and did not own any historical models. I bought a bunch of miniatures agnostic rule sets so I was going to find a way to use whatever I received.

    More suitable for a front rank?

    • @Dan-ds8sf
      @Dan-ds8sf  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, a great suggestion if you have a bunch of old hoplites and are looking to blend this kit in with them.
