  • This video covers 3 new diffusers for Godox strobes, the ML-CD15, ML-CS1625 "soft tent" and the AK-R22. The ML-CD15 and ML-CS1625 both include 3 mounts, making them compatible with the following list of lighting equipment. Godox AD200, AD200 Pro, AD200 H200R, V850II, V860II, V860III, TT685, TT600, AD300 Pro, AD400 Pro, AD100 Pro, ML60 LED, ML30 LED. The AK-R22 is specifically designed for round head equipment, such as the AD100 Pro and Godox V1.
    The ML-CD15 is a 15cm collapsible sphere. The ML-CS1625 is a 16x25cm collapsible rectangle.

    I wasn't sure which of them to buy. You were so clear and detailed, yet so straight to the point. I'm going for the ML-CD15, which is also cheaper than the other one.
    I think this is the one-to-go option for the ones who think that the Magsphere is overpriced!
    Thank you very much!

    I already owned these both, but I’m glad I saw this video. It’s good know about the split warmth of colors, but knowing that I can work around it in most cases. Thanks!!

    It would be nice if there were different back options for the CS1625. The translucent, a black, a silver reflective, etc. An attachable grid would be useful too.

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      For Seniors, I'd take a look at what Magmod users tend to do. Prior to the release of the Magbox, many of them would use a small diffuser (the magsphere) on an off-camera key light, but then fill it in with an on-camera light. The small off camera light source will create hard shadows, however by filling the shadows in, the light pattern is not very dramatic.
      Alternatively, they would use a diffuser just out of frame, to get the softest light possible out of a tiny modifier. Some would go as far as to keep it in frame, then snap a second shot with the light pulled out to easily composite the light out in post production.
      Neither of these are my favorite, personally I'd rather just use a larger modifier in that scenario, which is why I tend to use compact diffusers most for bounce-fill indoors.

    Thanks for these reviews! It seems the ML-CD15 could be a good replacement for the magsphere. Thinking of pairing it with the V1 and AD100 for events and on-the-fly portraits.

      I returned the magsphere. This is 10c better. I tried wrapping the sphere around my V1 and it can be done but it was extremely tight. This is very nice on my 860iii. The flash and the cd15 together is a little heavy but the images look beautiful.

    Very informative. and well-done Robert...I'm thinking the ML-CD15 might work well for location shoots on windy days when most light modifiers would get blown over . Im getting one to add to my location gear....

    Hi Robert, have you used the ML-CD15 with an on camera flash at events? Does it perform well and is it any better than say the magnetic frosted dome on the V1? Thanks mate, love your work.

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Trev. I have used it and you just get a more "full" bounce. The V1 + frosted dome sends most of the light up (upwards if your flash is pointed at the ceiling), whereas this one will send more light forward/down.

    Thanks for great video, Robert. I recently got this ML sphere with my ad300 because magmod only has softbox attachments for ad300. The problem is that I could no longer use magmod gel. I am using the flashpoint gel with the white rubber band, which is difficult to use.
    Do you have a better solution for fast gel on ad300?

      @@VEGAFLICKS akr1 is for godox v1 or round head for ad200. I ended up using the old magmod gel holder without the gel and LEE otc sheet under it. The hardest part is getting the magmod base magnet on.

    What flash and modifier would you use if you only have 1 30L backpack to hold all your camera gear?

    • @robhallphoto
      @robhallphoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly this question is lost on me because I wouldn't ever use my bag to define the gear I choose to carry. The images I want or am paid to create determine the lighting I carry, then the lighting determines the bag necessary.
      If that's a restriction you have to impose on yourself then you'd have to determine the gear that closest meets YOUR goals while fitting in the bag. And in that case, my preferences are irrelevant.

    YOU ARE SOOOOOO WRONG about the ML-CS1625. I wish you would stop saying it’s not good for event photography. I have used it in over 100 events and it’s great. The shape allows for a more controlled light around a subject for portraits or a wide group shot. 3:55

      Will be photographing rabbits at a rabbit show. Close ups will be nice with a larger diffusion surface.
      Glad to hear it will work for events too. But camera, flash, and diffuser is so bulky and heavy. It attracts so much attention as a photographer.
