this looks pretty cool, I might want to get back on the server. I haven't played since before yall redid the system and squished it down a bit and my base was already pretty far out, is there any chance I could get everything moved to a more reasonable distance or has that ship sailed?
What pilot skills are needed when railguns shoot themselves, PDC too, and all the control players have is distance to target, communication between each other and who grinds the most guns? Not a complaint, just want to see what else is out there
- Using torps to create distance - knowing when to turn and burn when a large torp volley is coming your way - staying at optimal distance to have good railgun accuracy - painting your targets critical points with the target painter mode (thrusters and railguns) - rotating your ship between torp volleys so that your PDCs don't overheat - making sure that both your railguns have optimal LOS to your target - making sure your PDCs have optimal LOS to incoming torp volleys, etc. This server is MUCH more than bigger gun-brick wins. I watched an incredible pilot in an inferior ship take on two decent pilots in meta grids and walk away to fight another day. If you are looking for brick meta, this server is not for you. If you are looking for real skill and grid design based combat, then you have found the right place.

@@matthewpohlmann6623 Sounds like you should join a nation or a larger faction, or recruit some new members. This server is focused on large group gameplay and is difficult for solo players.
*Would be interesting* with a game & event like this, but everyone starts off with unlimited building resources, so the only limiting factor is the players skills: Building, piloting & fighting. Everyone has the same amount of time & resources, so the winners is those who can design, build & use those designs. And I bet that if this is repeated several times, the designs will evolve too, because the same design will not work, because the other factions build "counter-ships" for those ships, so the fist faction has to build "counter counter-ships" and so on. It would be interesting to see which are the best designs each round :D
Ships cost in-game money and time on this server and we want to keep it that way. It makes players make smart decisions with their ships and not always suicidally charge their enemies.
@@alphamatte4259 You have more experience, what changes do you think would be beneficial to creating a "beneficial environment" for making big (multi-crew?) capital ships? Or maybe some kind of carrier ships?
@@sebbes333 Carrier ships don't really exist in the Expanse Lore - which is what our server is based on, so that probably will never happen. Capital ships will probably not be multicrew either, because of how SE is coded. Almost everything needed to run a ship can be controlled from one cockpit so players never need to multicrew unless they want to.
@@alphamatte4259 sorry for asking, but how come you folks don't also play starbase from frozenbyte? literally thousands of players play in the same universe, players build their own voxel spaceships, spaceships with structural integrity and even actual powercables that can be cut by a bullet, players can build on the moons also, can build massive mobile bases that can be conquered by rival clans, same for clan built spacestations and moon bases, each bullet damage in the spaceships actually exists in their really super tiny voxels, it's a game really catering for your type of gameplay

I'm asking because I know a lot of people don't like it because while it is one of the most effective pvp/pve playstyles for ship combat it also takes a lot of the fun out of it so I wanna ask if it is allowed and whether it is or isn't what your opinion is on it
We’ve had plenty of people try it, they may get a slight advantage but most of our weapons are not really affected by it. The combat you are seeing is from hardcore PvP factions flying meta ships. If spin to win worked they would be doing it lol. We only allow main drives in one direction and it’s enforced through a mechanical plugin. So spin to win is insanely hard to do and doesn’t really help that much as I said above.

Hello, I just downloaded Space Engineers recently and I am very new to the game. Is this Expanse server beginner friendly? Because this was my main reason of downloading it to have some Expanse fun
