Lupe is so brainy. Even his dope is brainy. All his riddles and word play is dope. As a fan of him, I must say, he doesn't deliver much feeling. Like if Lupe was tasked to make Dear Momma. He gone make Dear Matriach. He raps at his IQ, and that's what he is proud of. But everyone feels and that what Kendrick can do much better. Capture emotions, even if you got to leave out a riddle or two. Make it feel more like a human experience. I felt like ain't nobody praying for me by Kendrick felt like something Lupe would do... but Lupe don't make songs feel like that. They think like that. Control felt like what he was saying. It wasn't amazing lyrics. It was the gun in your mouth feeling of it

Man, I’ve been listening to Lupe for several weeks now and you nailed the description of what I couldn’t put into words of what I thought and felt about Lupe’s music. He is a great rapper, but he just doesn’t have that trait of holding the listener’s attention for the entire song. He focuses so much on the technicality of how to rap that it’s like he forgot how to catch and keep the listener’s ear. Listening to Kendrick, he doesn’t perform lyrical gymnastics like Lupe, but he crafts his music, lyrics, delivery, etc. to convey a specific message. It’s like he holds the art (combination of all music traits ) above any of the pieces that specifically make up the music, which is why I can listening to his entire albums on repeat, with a more focused ear. I knew Kendrick was a unique rapper when I heard Rigamortis and HiiiPower, but I would have never guessed he would still be evolving to this day.

And in my opinion and the commercial opinion he is sonically better as well. Lupe is probably one of the best lyricists ever though but that is one sole aspect of the game.

People think kdots pen is so hype and kendrick is nice but if we are being 10000% honest no one is really even close to lupe when it comes to pure lyrical ability , there's a whole SLR series where the whole shits are just extended metaphors and double entandres so to most people it just sounds like words to them .
