      Thought Crimez I have to know who lupe has battled? Who has lupe went head up with? We know Duckworth is with the shit. But if Lupe hasn’t had any note worthy battles then where do we see this being competitive? Maybe I’m tripping. Idk anymore!

      seven grow7 Duckworth is with the shit? He never responded to a single control verse response and has yet to respond to Montana 300 or papoose, all he does is subliminally diss big Sean and drake, so tell me, how is kendrick "with the shit"? I believe lupe is more with the shit then kendrick would ever be unlike kendrick lupe isn't an industry plant don't believe the hype

    Lupe Fiasco's Mural, lyrically, is the new gold standard as for innovation of the art form. If you know Lupe at all, you know he dgaf about mainstream clout. He hates it... And everyone it. Not because he didn't get the notoriety you think he wants, he hated it because it's filled with superficial vultures that love the business of music more than the actual music. The ppl that care about gossip & news cycles more than the music. He's a lyricist. A rapper's rapper. With the likes of MF DOOM, Aesop Rock, Pharaoh Monch, Kool Keith, Slug, Black Thought, Loaded Lux & battle rappers, etc. These rappers are different. They care about the art form & how to break a word down to every syllable. So bringing up that typical "they jealous of album sales or that they couldn't cut it in the mainstream or mc so & so took your lane" is based on your own assumptions. Cause its only industry talking heads that are under the assumption these rappers have cared about any of that clout in their careers. You think Madvillany, The Cold Vein, Violent By Design, Re:Clear Blue Skies, Labor Days, Below the Heavens, Overcast, 3rd Eye Visions, Deltron 3030, etc. were made for the masses? Your assumptions of why any rapper Is vexed is so surface level and sounds like a reflection of what yall put on a pedestal and frankly it sounds like naive, teenager music IQ. And that's clean & all... I just thought I'd be able to hold yall opinions to a higher level. And tell dude he is not funny. Ya roast game shakey & is too drunk, country uncle.

    Also kendrick was very punchline heavy on his early mixtapes, he then started to focus more on storytelling, concepts and song writing which is why he had made phenomenal albums. Lupe said he was introduced to kendrick after section 80. Which means he hasn't heard all his other projects

    Lupe=Elite MC, K.Dot=Elite Artist. This isn't a slight to either one of them. Lupe, like many MCs today unfortunately, doesn't get his just due from the masses. Hip-hop heads know his work, but the group thought contingency who is constantly propping up a Lil, has no clue. Kendrick Lamar is nice but I wouldn't rate him lyrically above a Crooked I. Now as an overall artist? Different story.

      andre harvey I think an analogy for Kendrick would be like Pac. Pac lyrically wasn't the most technical MC, but all the other intangibles, he checked the box. Charisma, impact, message in his songs, the larger than life persona and he could rap. Now before anyone jumps out the window, I'm not talking down on Pac or saying Kendrick is Pac, but the similarities as being a complete artist are there. Compare that with Ruck, elite MC, but he wasn't there to be the cover of a magazine artist. He was an Elite MC that would bar your ass to death. It's kinda like how some people are just now getting around to acknowledging. Black Thought as an Elite MC and in the discussion of GOAT. Hip-Hop headz, we been knowing. The masses in my opinion must have thought he was a gimmick, "oh a rapper in a band, that's different.", not realizing he getting 99% of these rappers up out the paint. Yet as far as mass appeal goes, he will never get that just due that he deserves. No light bars with Thought, he would have to dumb it down on a large scale just to get that recognition from the group thought contingency.

    • @221ddj
      @221ddj 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      100% true. The Group thought contingency is what deems people like Drake and Kanye lyrical Gods...meanwhile the guy in the 3rd floor, 1 bedroom walk-up crafting their songs gets no love.
      Lupe started as an elite MC with the mixtapes and those made his first two releases seem weak. Kendrick is getting better with no label issues and far better production. I'd posit that if Lupe had the behind the scenes push from a Dre type that Kendrick got, he'd be considered top 3 by the same group think contingency that dismisses him now.

    • @trinidadonassis7411
      @trinidadonassis7411 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      221ddj Glad you brought up Drake and Kanye. Kanye as a producer, specifically his older work, deserves its due. However when I hear people saying he has a classic album??? As a rapper? And you ain't writing your shit? Now the group thought contingency will bring up Dre, but we never considered him as a rapper or MC. Super producer minus those wack Em albums, ok, but it never got twisted that lyrically he was someone of note. Drake, same boat. The second Meek Mill exposed that he wasn't writing his own shit, for me and others who that's a big mf deal, he was out the door. Yet group thought there to save the day with all of the lame Meek Mill and L's jokes. Thank goodness Budden 4-0 swept Drakes ass up out the paint. We haven't heard him with any of that best rapper alive bullshit since.
      Now as for Lupe, you are correct. He doesn't have that machine behind him like Kendrick. Again, no knock against Kendrick but that shit makes a difference. Another prime example of that making a difference...BIG KRIT. His and Lupe's story and trajectory almost mirror each other. This generation missed the boat completely on two of the better MCs of this era and Hip-Hop as a whole is paying for it. If Atlantic and Def Jam did their damn job like they seem to be able to do with a Lil, things might be different.

      i think the music argument is down to their grooming. Kendrick had a musical sensei in Dr. Dre who groomed him to what he is today. Whereas Lupe has just been by himself the whole time (with Atlantic bullshitting him along the way). If Lupe had Dre grooming him he'd make music that's just as good as Kendrick's.

    I know which person you're talking about "Why Lupe Fiasco's T&Y is underrated" Prince, seen that video myself. I'll say this, the reason it was overlooked on the grand scale was because TPAB came out the same year around the same time and the hype around it grabbed the masses attention. T&Y was a side note before it had a chance to be digested. On the Kendrick vs Lupe note, Kendrick's MAD solid as a Lyricist, but he don't want smoke with Lupe.

    He called the Control verse wack, but he still talking about the "wack verse" 6 years later. I gotta disagree with his lyrical assessment of Kendrick. Kendrick got double entendres and metaphors on multiple songs. Not as technical as Lupe, but he does got it. Kendrick got better flow than Lupe. Although Lupe is a great MC, he has a tendency to half assed his technical ability or when he display it, it's sounds too forced and pretentious sometimes. Lupe has been jealous of Kendrick for years. He even say Logic, someone who get heavy influence from Kendrick, better than Kendrick. Lupe's discography is one of the most inconsistent in Hip-Hop. For someone in that caliber, it's disappointing. He's only got two classic albums while Kendrick Lamar got at least 3 and he still make consistent quality work. C'mon now. Kendrick is getting his credit in the game, while Lupe is being a hater and trying hard to imitate Samurai Jack on Instagram.

    Kendrick may not be a Top Tier lyricist but many rappers and top tier lyricist can't structure great projects and songs like Kendrick. It's well known that top tier lyricist struggle tremendously in those areas for example: King Los Big L Papoose Joell Ortiz Royce da 5'9 just to name a few. So at the end of the day most Top tier lyricist would die for a discography as good as Kendrick's, they only great at freestyles and cyphers

He pulled a Lupe, he wanted people to respect lyrics even though he knew he would be reppn hustlaz and Gz. It was smart, both of y'all were smart for doing it and bringing the realness bac. But please understand, Lupe is so necessary in this game that when he was being held back by his recording label an unknown group sent threats to release him warning not to mess with him, common or any other list of their conscious MCs. Kendrick was not on that list. Be mindful of that when you claim kendrick's music is better than Lupe's with just one album.

    The control verse...that whole song was trash to be honest. It only had shock value to easily impressed millennials. From that perspective I agree with Lupe. However, lesser artists have claimed to be the best (Drake, Wayne, Kanye) with very little blowback. I think Lupe took exception to it because he wasn't directly mentioned in it. But Kendrick was calling out folks in his own class so Lu shouldn't have been mentioned. This potential "beef" is weird, but it'd be a cool battle. Royce da 5' 9" will be watching closely I'm sure.

I like Lupe but come on really? Lupe is a lyrical prodigy that is out here painting himself in a bad light straight tarnishing his own legacy. Lupe has never compromised his artistry even a little bit and that's a great thing. Sadly I feel its also been his down fall facts. He had his moment to make his print on the culture and its past. I do enjoy both artist music and they both have classic albums but I think when both of their careers are over Kendrick will have the greater impact in hip hop. Them going toe to toe would be fantastic for hip hop tho.

    So I am guessing Lupe likes Jay-Z over Nas? Different strokes for different folks.

    Lupe Fiasco is the Undisputed King of the Double/Triple/Quadruple/Quintuple Entendre.
    No mainstream mc can match him.

    Lupe is off about the Kendrick “control” verse being hyped for 1 reason alone. Kendrick isn’t responsible for what the world does with his music after he releases it. To charge Kendrick with claiming to be the best mixed with the hype his “control” verse received muddies the issue. The fans hyped the verse after Kendrick released it not before. That verse pretty much came out of no where. To add the part about the hype being weird not only speaks to Lupe’s over inflated sense of self importance but also his annoyance with it all highlights his jealousy. Kendrick should absolutely focus on his career and ignore Lupe. You can’t open the door for any rapper with an infatuation to bait you into satisfying they’re egos. “Oh I’m annoyed with you K.dot we should battle”! No nigga...go that way ➡️➡️➡️➡️!

    To be honest a better battle would be between King Los and Lupe but a quick side bar i fks with the anime at the end. Is this something that you guys created?
