Hi Christi, you're going to love this season, its quite different from the season with Floor, but just as magical. You'd expect that Anneke would be the standout this season, and obviously she killed it (with eyes closed and one arm tied to her back) but the one who grabbed everyone is a lovely young lady of Turkish/Dutch origin named Karsu. In short (suggestions), anything by Karsu and Anneke, but the longer version of "what to check out"... is pretty much the same answer as that year with Floor... EVERYONE delivered top quality music. Others have mentioned Lara Fabian's Je Suis Malade by Karsu and Belle Perez, Hijo de la luna by Karsu and Anneke's lovely version of Jest Oldu, and i second those choices. But to really get an idea of Karsu's diversity, you really want to check out "An de Kant" and "Hollywood Seven" as well, she's an amazing vocal talent. Someone who is a bit overlooked is Alides Hidding, the leadsinger for a band (The Time Bandits) that had massive international success in the 1980's, he was famous for head-voice vocals, he could reach some high notes in his days... but.. he long left those days behind and now does pretty much whatever he feels like doing vocally, and he might have dropped the highs, but he has not dropped the range he has, he's sadly very overlooked. Another great singer is Hendrik Jan Bokkers (simply Bokkers) who's a raw looking and sounding type of guy (with a small heart, really such a nice guy) who happens to have one hell of a rock voice on him, i think you will like his stuff as well (not to mention he's very powerful) Joe Buck has a beautiful voice, Belle Perez is at her best when she opens all registers and when she does... oh boy.. she's good ;) And finally (but not least!) we had Roel van Velsen, a giant of a man in a small package, a true all-round musician and singer. I am certain you'll like them all and will find favorite songs by each of them. But i predict that Karsu will blow you away like she did with us, she kept stepping outside of her comfort zone each episode and she slayed it each and every time (she's a story teller, a really good story teller) Ty for the react Christi, great to see you having a look at Beste Zangers again :)
Listen and react to White Roses on this show with Anneke...White Roses is a song that is written by Joe Buck the one who she is singing it to..His parents lost their first born child (Joe Bucks brother) before he was born. He wrote this song for his parents. Now every year his mother brings white roses to his grave...
You most definitely should watch more of this season! You're going to absolutely love it, it's such a different bunch from when Floor was on there, and especially the women shine this time around. Belle sang "Strange Machines" for Anneke, totally out of her comfort zone, and it was absolutely brilliant, she nailed it and what's especially amazing is her breath control. Belle doesn't breathe. Or she does, but you wouldn't know and Anneke said this is what it really impresses her every time Belle sings. There's also Karsu, a young turkish-dutch singer who became an overnight sensation in the Netherlands and she shows so many different sides to her voice, I recommend her "Hijo de la Luna" she sang for Belle, but also Aan de Kant, a very big band jazzy kinda song, and also her cover of Anneke's "Losing You". Belle and Karsu also sang a cover of Lara Fabian's "Je Suis Malade" together, Karsu did her part in Turkish. And also you should definitely check out Anneke's "Jest Oldu", again a song she translated from Turkish to English for Karsu, but kept the chorus in Turkish and gave it a rock twist, Karsu cried when she heard that but also check out Anneke's and Alides' cover of "What Kind of Fool" by Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibb, this must be my absolute favorite from this season. Anneke's voice elevates this song to new heights and the energy she brings, brilliant.
In Western Europe sadly Jest Oldu by Anneke is blocked, I presume by the Turkish company holding the rights of the original song... hope in USA it can still be found? But you have to edit it smartly in order to not have it blocked...
Anneke is great as always. Karsu was the the suprise for me in this series. Listen to her singing Hijo de la Luna for Belle and Losing you (written by Anneke) for Anneke.
Anneke was outstanding during these series of Beste Zangers. But definitely watch Karsu!!! Her voice is addictive! Try 'Losing You' and "Hijo De La Luna". And definitely watch Je Suis Malade which is a duet between Belle Perez and Karsu. You won't be disappointed!
The smile in Annekes rendition is largely kept for the parts of the song that are in a major scale. It was Belles intention to write a song switching between the bitter sweet pain of a separation with one's lover (in minor), and hope, together with the feeling of being grounded as a strong person and facing the future with some confidence (in major). So the expressing of emotions deserves to be done delicately in this song...
I think that Anneke's smile is what gives her interpretation that bit extra. She has such radiance, and she fills this sad song with hope. I find this more genuine to her than going for the heartbreak. You will adore Sing Sing Sing by Anneke as well, it's amazing & she smiles all the way through! I'm really happy you're getting into this season! Karsu, Anneke & Roel were the standouts for me. Joe pleasantly surprised me too. Belle I was never a fan of, but now that I have seen what she can do when she gets outside of her genre I hope she keeps doing it! Looking forward to seeing your reactions ❤️❤️❤️
You should do a reaction on Belle Perez and Karsu singing Je Suis Malade in Beste Zangers 2021. Belle sings in French and Karsu in Turkish. They crushed it.
Absolutely Belle and Karsu but talking about emotions, here is Roel van Velzen. It’s in Dutch but emotions do not have a language; th-cam.com/video/vXIp7oM7siA/w-d-xo.html
Anneke's smile was because the song is about moving on after a breakup and then being happy again. Anneke went through a rough patch with her own realtionship about 2 years ago, so she liked the idea of this song. Belle wrote this after breaking up with her ex, and she loved the translation to english.
Roel van Velzen with the song: Jij maakt muziek, is also a very good song. He sings this song for Karsu. Karsu is very impressed by his song and her face is telling so much there. It's so lovely to see! ❤
Many people are suggesting Karsu and I absolutely agree, but one standout performance for me this season that I don’t see recommended a lot is „Jij maakt muziek (Birak beni böyle)“ by Roel van Velzen. It’s a cover of one of Karsu‘s original songs, and I thought Roel‘s translated version was absolutely stunning. You really can’t go wrong with any of the performances from this season, and I’d love to see more!
This was another great season of Beste Zangers. Anneke sand a song called Jest Oldu for Karsu. It was amazing and so beautiful and uplifting. Many of the songs were very special. Loved it Christi.
Belle actually performed The Gathering's biggest hit "Strange Machines" for Anneke. And did an amazing job! And indeed, Karsu is one to watch! She has the same capability as Lara Fabian to putting emotion into songs, as if she's living the story.
Anneke also sings a very emotional song that was written by Jo Buck about his dead born brother who is remembered every year by his parents. The song is called White Roses and is a beautiful and toughing song.
Hey Christi, absolutely loved your breakdown here. Made me think a lot of how Anneke developed her style during her The Gathering years, going from Mandylion to Home. I think you'll recognise a lot of her playful melodical singing already in Mandylion tracks like Strange Machines and In Motion #2, but this did become more prominent in their later studio albums and live concerts. Their live DVD 'A Sound Relief' (2005) is especially exemplary in this respect I think. You seem to be under the impression that Anneke is so well known in NL ... but you'd be surprised how many actually don't know her. Many just recall 'Strange Machines' and 'that pretty cute headbanger who brought some clean vocals to goth metal in the 90s' ... and that's it. Sadly most of The Gathering's and Anneke's music never touched the mainstream, even while it couldn't be 'tagged' as 'metal' (although metal is a highly underrated genre in NL anyway). They just fell off any (commercial) radar at some point. But, yes, legend she is and it's great to notice that her highly inspiring vocal and musical capabilities get highlighted by enthusiastic vocal coaches like you. Thanks! On this song and performance: This is about breaking up of long lasting relationships. Belle and Karsu (the young singer fighting her tears) had both gone through that, and Anneke had only just managed to avoid a breakup (check her own latest album). So, this was a very impactful song for them. I think Anneke did the exact right thing by bringing her visible smile to the 'up' or 'major' parts of the song, as intended by Belle, and surpressed it while singing the 'minor' parts. Considering all of the above I can only just repeat an earlier recommendation for you to check out that 'A Sound Relief' concert. Maybe even do a collab reaction on that with a composer to also breakdown the gorgeous soundscapes Anneke's vocals get to dance on. Finally, I wish to recommend you to check some more of this season's BZ performances. Many have already been mentioned here, but I'd like to bump for the epic duet by Karsu and Belle, Karsu's version of 'Losing You', and Anneke's duet with Roel (in Dutch). Enjoy!
I love every performance of Anneke in this season. I have to admit I fell in love with the voice of Karsu and her personality shone through. I had never heard of her before, so yet again Beste Zangers has introduced me to another artist. As usual wonderful reaction and analysis from you.
Hi Christi, thanks for your reaction. Loved this song. Agreed with Rosannasfriend that leaving Je Suis Malade by Belle & Karsu for your own finale of BZ2021 would be a good move. May I suggest Karsu's Losing You as the one but last? Super emotional in a quiet way. An Anneke song, giving vibes like About Love I don't know a thing done by Floor two years ago... all the best to you!
As promised here is my list of songs/seasons of Beste Zangers that I think are really worth a listen: Season from 2016: Og3ne singing Clown Og3ne singing Sing Og3ne singing Laughter In The Rain Rene van Kooten singing Annie's Song Jeroen van der Boom singing Ik Ben Hier Og3ne singing Abba Medley Season from 2017: Maan singing Nessum Dorma Tania Kross and Tommie Christiaan singing Barcelona Tommie Chrstiaan singing Caruso Tania Kross singing Margherita Tania Kross singing Someone Like Me Kenny B singing Fast Car Tania Kross and Tommie Christiaan singing Time of My Life Season from 2021: Anneke van Giersbergen singing White Roses Karsu singing From This Moment Karsu singing Losing You Joe Buck singing Sometimes It Snows In April Belle Perez singing Strange Machines
Some additions: Trijntje Oosterhuis - 'Something so strong inside' and 'The first time ever I saw your face' Davina Michelle - At this moment Maria Fiselier - Lose Yourself (an opera singer raps💪)
Christy, if you would like English subtitles for the none English songs I can send you an email with links to a TH-cam channel that has entire episodes with English subtitles. I’ll just tell you the time stamp for when to start. Just let me know.
Dear Singers! Fantastic show, Anneke melting hearts with her voice. Belle returned with "Strange Machines" for Anneke. The best one was Anneke singing for Karsu "Jest Oldu", the feedback was wonderfully heartwarming. Got blocked though, don't know if it's available yet.
Please do karsu! She's amazing! ❤️ She sings "losing you" from and for anneke or "je suis malade" with belle Perez in the duet episode. Both songs are soo good!
Hi Christie (sorry if i spelled your name wrong) "Nightwish - All The Works Of Nature Which Adorn The World" is the next you need to look in to. There's not that much vocals in it, but just listen and marvel at this classical master piece from Tuomas. They released this piece with their last album "Human. :II: Nature" Peace and love from Sweden Merry Christmas to all.
This song really got to Karsu. Watch her face in the close up. She just went through a break up after a long relationship. This break up pain also manifested itself in her duet with Belle Perez "Je suis malade". For the occasion she translated her part into Turkish.
Nice reaction 👍🏻👍🏻 You should listen to Karsu, she really was the best, imo! All her songs are good, she sings in English, Spanish, Turkish and Dutch (a dialect) and in different music styles.
Belle Perez was also in the Belgian version of Beste Zangers. There this beautiful song was covered by Dana winner. You should definitely listen to ( maybe even react to) it. You will love it, I promise. Dana's crystal clear voice made this song a highpoint of the series. Dana Winner - Weer Verder Gaan (Live) | Liefde Voor Muziek | VTM - TH-cam
Coming from The Gathering - there's a 'Stravinsky' aspect to that side of prog, where the chords-melody relation contradicts the lyric and vice-versa, a-la Symphony of Psalms. She carried on with that attitude that a dark lyric can still have a light lift.
Hi Christie, lovely, to-the-point comments. Not only about the singing/performance but also from a broader perspective. Thanks. Makes the musical experience so much more intense. Did not know this particular song before your comments, but what a wonderful song / performance this is! English accent is a thing she could work on. I did watch som other 'Beste Zangers' in this season. So if I have three tips for you for you for reviewing songs from this series: Karsu, Karsu and Karsu. Watch them, you will be amazed as much is I am, did not know the woman before a couple of months. While she was already a star in Turkey. Already enjoying your forthcoming comments!
Hi Christi, great reaction as usuaI. I think Anneke decided to make it not TOO difficult for Belle and Karsu (the lady with the beautiful earrings). You can see that Karsu is trying to swallow hear tears. You're right, if she wanted she could make those ladies cry a river ...
Thank you for your reaction to this beautiful performance! Love it, and I really enjoyed this season of Beste Zangers. So much talent, so many beautiful songs. Please, react to Belle's and Karsu's version of 'Je suis malade'. Very impressive!
You should also check out the Belgian version of this format ‚Liefde voor muziek‘, especially the 2018 volume with, among other great artists, Sharon den Adel. Not that we‘re in any way committed to European music but I remember that so well. I know you would love it.
Have you done Travel with Anneke and her old band The Gathering? If not, ITS A must❤️ do the werson of the 25 years cellebration of the band😉 Love from Norway
You should also listen to 'White Roses' performed by Anneke for Joe Buck. Joe wrote this song for his brother who died when he was young. Very emotional, very beautiful!
Need to do anything by KARSU. The best ones are “ant de Kant “, “ from this moment “, “hijo de luna “, and “Hollywood seven “. She also sings Lara Fabian’s “je suis malade”, In the finale as a duet with bell Perez. I would prefer you watch that last one as your final video by her, to understand the progression she went through as an artist on the show.
Anneke is not only the Mother of all Dutch Female Singers....is the MOTHER OF ALL the Female Symphonic Singers of all around the World!! by example: my friend Marcela Bovio (shes from my city Monterrey, México) ...and YES! before Anneke was too many female singers on rock and metal: Doro Pesch maybe was the Mother of all Metal Womans on music ...and singers, but with Anneke begin the Era of the Symphonic Metal Bands with female vocals (Theatre of Tragedy, Nightwish, Tristania, Epica, The sins of thy beloved, Elis...and too many bands)
Anneke, singing jest oldu next please, on beste zangers 2021 - even if you don't post a reaction on -line , please please please , treat yourself & watch this beautiful song , I love hard Rock & heavy metal & this song & this beautiful singer just blows me away everytime I listen , Music like this just does something to me 😢 , it is magical - ENJOY 😍.
High Christy, better late than never…. Another epic one is Joe Buck singing It’s a wonderful life to Katsura, who had a devastating period losing her love, her house, on top of COVID, not being able to perform. Joe’s rendition is one of a kind, to me the best I know of, perfect singing and … the band, the band. I would love to see your reaction. So far I know of only 1 reaction video and that’s a shame. This magical rendition deserves sooooo much more: th-cam.com/video/NbnaB6in3Jc/w-d-xo.html
I would like to suggest you to react to a song called "peces de ciudad" where one of the best Spanish singers nowadays, Pablo Alborán, sings a duet with a great friend of him, one of the best singer-songwriters of this country and also a great pianist, Pablo López. "Peces de Ciudad" is a great song ( from another Spanish singer...) but they managed to make it even more emotional and unforgettable. Their voices join and separate following the melodies... following the feelings... It's a song you should listen to... if you don't want to react to it.
beautiful reaction, I would really like to see you react to Bokkers singing hou van mij beste zangers 2021 (same season) thank you, peace from a dutch singer
I thought It was Monica Naranjo's song too, It would be a fantasy to have Floor and Monica in the dame program though they ar from different seasons. i'm discovering Anneke now and what a nice voice she has.
@@desertrose5956 Yeah, I discovered it afterwards haha. I'm wondering how many Monica's fans would be Floor's too . And I will listen to Belle, no doubt
Well, it's a very sad, sober song. But watch something like Karsu - An de Kant or Bokkers - Dat dach ik dus nie, and you'll see a more lively audience.
Another great singer is Hendrik Jan Bokkers (simply Bokkers) who's a raw looking and sounding type of guy (with a small heart, really such a nice guy) who happens to have one hell of a rock voice on him, i think you will like his stuff as well (not to mention he's very powerful)
Joe Buck has a beautiful voice, Belle Perez is at her best when she opens all registers and when she does... oh boy.. she's good ;)
And finally (but not least!) we had Roel van Velsen, a giant of a man in a small package, a true all-round musician and singer.
I am certain you'll like them all and will find favorite songs by each of them.
But i predict that Karsu will blow you away like she did with us, she kept stepping outside of her comfort zone each episode and she slayed it each and every time (she's a story teller, a really good story teller)
Ty for the react Christi, great to see you having a look at Beste Zangers again :)

Great overview of the season, appreciate you bringing this to Christi's attention!👍🏻
Anneke is great as always. Karsu was the the suprise for me in this series. Listen to her singing Hijo de la Luna for Belle and Losing you (written by Anneke) for Anneke.
The way this song plays with minor and major, despair and hope, touches deep.

Like I said, please leave this best one for the last, Christi! It is well worth waiting for!!!

She sings "losing you" from and for anneke or "je suis malade" with belle Perez in the duet episode. Both songs are soo good!

Vivo per lei, and few years ago Barcelona. Great performances
Anneke, the God Mother of Metal!
Hearing Monica Naranjo being mentioned on an Anneke video is just mind blowing, my top female singers of all time 🥰
This song really got to Karsu. Watch her face in the close up. She just went through a break up after a long relationship. This break up pain also manifested itself in her duet with Belle Perez "Je suis malade". For the occasion she translated her part into Turkish.

All her songs are good, she sings in English, Spanish, Turkish and Dutch (a dialect) and in different music styles.
Jewel (Kilcher) also has a similar tone of voice. Pretty unique. Missed today’s livestream and now I find myself bingeing Christi vids.
Next: “Strange Machines” by Belle Perez
Already enjoying your forthcoming comments!
great video again
Hi Christi, great reaction as usuaI. I think Anneke decided to make it not TOO difficult for Belle and Karsu (the lady with the beautiful earrings). You can see that Karsu is trying to swallow hear tears. You're right, if she wanted she could make those ladies cry a river ...
She has the cuttest voice ever, very very bright and she really knows how to use it. it is the cheeks ;)
Valerie, try to comment "Jest Oldu" from de beste zangers. She sings for Karsu (Dutch/Turkish) please.
Have you done Travel with Anneke and her old band The Gathering? If not, ITS A must❤️ do the werson of the 25 years cellebration of the band😉 Love from Norway
Hijo de la Luna and Jest Oldu, please!
You should also listen to 'White Roses' performed by Anneke for Joe Buck. Joe wrote this song for his brother who died when he was young. Very emotional, very beautiful!
You could search for Paul H. He translated the conversations between the performances to English.
Awake or Hyperdrive with Devin - Thread in London Live ;) Do it ;) Anneka Sings with him on every Song
Awake is so good..anneke don't sing much in that song, but the dancing and the movements she does when Devin is singing..priceless hahaha
Please react to Vuur's Days Go By, you won't regret it, you'll see that Anneke can be "loud" too 😁
Anneke is not only the Mother of all Dutch Female Singers....is the MOTHER OF ALL the Female Symphonic Singers of all around the World!! by example: my friend Marcela Bovio (shes from my city Monterrey, México) ...and YES! before Anneke was too many female singers on rock and metal: Doro Pesch maybe was the Mother of all Metal Womans on music ...and singers, but with Anneke begin the Era of the Symphonic Metal Bands with female vocals (Theatre of Tragedy, Nightwish, Tristania, Epica, The sins of thy beloved, Elis...and too many bands)
More videos Beste zangers
Please Try my absolute favorite of this 2021 season of Beste Zangers. : the duet of Karsu and Perez singing Je suis malade. Very emotional.
She reminds me of a mix between Alison Krauss and Stevie Nicks.
Royal Hunt, Distopia, I used to work alone.
beautiful reaction, I would really like to see you react to Bokkers singing hou van mij beste zangers 2021 (same season)
thank you, peace from a dutch singer
❤❤❤
❤❤❤
❤❤❤
Hi Christi.
Try to "reverse" the role, the song "Strange Machines" by The Gathering (Anneeke) performed by Belle Perez, the same "Beeste Zangers"
Check out Anneke singing Kate Bush
I Christi. Please react on Anneke van Giersbergen who sings Jest Oldu. There is a surprise in it and is from the same show, Beste Zangers 2021
Another singer I’ve heard Anneke compared to is Kristin Chenoweth.
i hope we get simone simons and edward reekers(kayak) next version of beste zangers
Please do Belle Perez and Karsu singing Je Suis Malade
th-cam.com/video/u2ssrv0oy6M/w-d-xo.html
They both had problems with their relation belle and karsu ended it and anneke got counceling thats why it has so mutch emotion for the 3 of them
Thanks for sharing
I thought It was Monica Naranjo's song too, It would be a fantasy to have Floor and Monica in the dame program though they ar from different seasons. i'm discovering Anneke now and what a nice voice she has.
Monica Naranja's song has the same title, but it's a completely different song, this song is an original song of Belle Perez 😉
@@desertrose5956 Yeah, I discovered it afterwards haha. I'm wondering how many Monica's fans would be Floor's too . And I will listen to Belle, no doubt
THANKS LOVE VOICE 4 D REACTION, COULD U REACT 2 MON LAFERTE, FLOR DE AMAPOLA? SHE IS A GRAMMY WINER.
Can you react to home free brothers in arms
Is it just me, or do the folks on the couch just don't seem to be as enthusiastic as the 2019 group?
Well, it's a very sad, sober song. But watch something like Karsu - An de Kant or Bokkers - Dat dach ik dus nie, and you'll see a more lively audience.
Anneke is better than Kraus isn't she?
anneke sounds more ike joan baez than allison krauss. well i know you are too young to remember joan.
No idea why u like this, there is no passion in this song. It is just bad.
