Stomp user (and Pod-Go) - recently bought an FM3 -- the Stomp is great for gigs and is a bump up from the Pod-Go, but the Fractal is on another level, no question; I can tweak and tweak to get something good on the Stomp but with the Fractal it starts at a sonic place that's just killer! And the effects are not even comparable - the clarity just hits you in the face. I still use the Stomp for convenience on a Nano board, but at home it's the Fractal that makes me smile instantly. For programming the Line 6 is sweet, you have to learn the Fractal - but it can do anything -- anything you want, and it always sounds awesome. We live in amazing times!!

Had them all. There is really not a huge gap in between them if you have one of them either one , should make you very happy

took me 3 yrs to get know tricks and tips of Helix even to where I am at and can definitely say, if it broke would buy another. There is nothing that sounds filtered or toy like on Helix, just have to know how to coax it to get great sounds is all. I am sure the fractal is great too.

Having to coax out of helix is the reason u need a fractal! Just plug and get the best guitar sound straight out of box !!
Sold my helix rack from FM8. Wow 🤩 the difference was startling !!!
And not having to use those stupid sliders instead of knobs !!!!!!!

@@lukather1 i waited a year for my FM9. finally got it (last summer). it's presets blow away Helix presets, but not MY (Helix) presets. after extensive A/B'ing, i sold the FM9 for a slight profit a week later. Both units do some things better than the other. There isn't a cut and dried, universal, "better"...fan boys on either side be damned.
there was nothing in the FM9, for my needs, that warranted me learning a whole new ecosystem. as far as "having to coax" on the Helix, i prefer that as it forces you to actually learn the unit, so if you're ever in a live situation and you need to fix something on the fly, quickly you can.

It sounds like the helix is using a filter, the tones sound much clearer from the FM3.

I have both. the helix and just got the FM3 Turbo. the only thing i miss from the Helix is the Rochester Comp. for dialing in my clean tones. as far as which sounds better. i can't say right now, it was easier to dial in great tones with the FM3.

If you had a choice to have only either of the 2 ,which one would you prefer keeping ( leaving aside the cost value) ? I have an LT but considering getting the new FM3.

i'm a older guy and when i play live i alway take an amp and don't use the modeling. i use all the effects on the helix so i'm probable the wrong guy to answer that question. with that said if i was only using it for home or studio i would keep the FM3. for live i miss snapshots and the volume pedal on the helix.@@MusicChannel-rf5zz

I'm here because I'm looking for a modeler and I have the chance of getting these 2. I like the Fractal a bit more, but they both seem to be in the same ballpark and the differences in tone between the two of them seem like they could be corrected by changing the settings of the amps and EQ, right? Based on what I want, they both seem to have the amps I'd like to use, Diezel, Bogner, ENGL, and the Roland Jazz Chorus.
I can get the Line 6 at a store in my city right now. But If I went with Fractal I'd have to travel to another city to pick it up (I don't trust the mail with something this expensive). I need to make up my mind.

And this proves why I dumped Helix for my AXE III - well done

Un first comparison difference was huge 😮 even though you can help Helix to make it sound more close to the Fractal unit !!

The Helix LT does definetely not sound like that Lol
I don't know how you do your presets

To be honest FM3 sounds richer and fuller compared to the helix. FM3 sounds natural just like the amps helix Lt sounds like a cheap plug-in

I think you adjusted the Helix to make it sound bad. 😂

Helix is definitely more efficient in terms of its hardware utilization! With the same amount of DSP as FM-3, it can do so much more! Multiple amps at the same time, you can have more than 2 reverbs/delays. lol

I prefer Fractal, better sounding, better FX, more sims... But expensive has hell and not very user friendly interface.
Line6 never sounded right to me (I've a HX effects unit). I also have a kemper and a tonex pedal.
