    • @FlailinMonkey
      @FlailinMonkey ปีที่แล้ว

@@topdeadcenter9396 Not necessarily, it just depends on the type of vehicle you like. I bought my Slash 4x4 vxl when it was the only 3s 4x4 brushless vehicle Traxxas sold. I personally prefer the Rustler 4x4 vxl for looks/handling and would have bought one instead if it had been available at the time. I'm in the process of rebuilding my Slash as a Rustler 4x4.

I bought the brushed version of this truck in 2018 and spent the extra money I had on a car for my son. And now it's brushless, upgraded, and is almost identical to the green/blue VXL with my added flare. I love my rustler even though I've broken shocks, suspension arms, and stub axles. I have one, absolutely love it. My Proline Raptor body, is quite difficult to put on and remove as well. But the latching system I have to admit, Is really good. I've never once lost a body in a crash. My favorite part about the truck is the aftermarket products you can buy. On mine, I think the only thing that's stock is the chassis tub (never cracked or broken). Everyone makes aftermarket stuff for this truck, and I've really enjoyed building this one out. The main thing I don't like about the platform, is the design seems to encourage cartwheels in crashes. Every single brand of A Arms I've put on it have been ripped out of the pins in one way or another. Stock, RPM, aluminum, all killed by cartwheels. That's the main spare part I keep in my bag. Other than that, I think it's a beast of a little truck and I'll definitely build out another one in the future.

I've owned this truck since February and I agree with everything in this video. It's probably my favorite rc I've owned and I've owned a lot of em. I went with the gtr shocks as well and they're excellent for this truck. However I didn't like the gtr shock springs from traxxas so I did alot of experimenting and ended up using tekno et410 (orange) springs on the front and associated sc10 4x4 (red) springs on the rear with associated 37.5wt all the way around and it stays planted really well for the type of driving your doing in this video. Also I used the fox racing aluminum shock caps for the udr. They aren't really needed but they look cool as hell.

The body isn’t bad to take off and put on until you add on the body savers (to stop the bolts from tearing through the body.). It really tightens up the front body clip and reduces the flex around the body mount, thus making it much harder to take on and off.

  • @robertparadise3255

  • @AB8Y_radio

I agree on the body getting it on is a pain because the width of the chassis is wider than the body. Makes it fit tight but hard to hook under and push down. I usually hook it then spread the body to get it down.

That’s what I don’t like about Traxxas. Sure $400 isn’t bad, but you NEED to upgrade most of their models. So you end up having to struggle with things breaking and not working well, then spend an extra $150-$200 to make it a good vehicle. Why not just get something way nicer for $550-$600 right off the bat instead.

Nice video! I can’t help thinking though, nearly $400 is kinda, somewhat expensive, especially considering it’s “just” a 3s 4wd stadium truck. I get it’s Traxxas and you get all those benefits, but the Team Associated Rical MT10 is an extremely tough, 4s 4wd monster truck, it does tricks, takes a bashing, and is a good car, so I’ve heard. And it’s $370 I think, so that begs the question, this or the MT10? I know it’s a different brand, and you’re comparing a stadium truck to an MT, but FFT!

I'm not sure about others, but my first hobby grade rc was the original rustler when traxxas only had bandits, rustlers and stampede and if u wanted speed, you had a brushed motor custom wound. Since I been in it 35+ years, I stick with traxxas, everything traxxas. I've gone off reservation with HPI and Durango and a few others, and every last one of my traxxas are still kicking. Thats just me.

  • @damonwheeler7538

Maybe it was the GTR shocks that I got, but I had to punch out the balls that they came with because they were too wide to fit the A-arms, and put in a set from the shock rebuild kit, either that, or Dremel out the A-arm, which I did do on one of my cars. I have converted my son's originally Bandit, to be a brushed 2wd Rustler and running Stampede tires. Even though it is only brushed and 2wd, it has turned out to be a great basher and not so over powered like the VXL. I have a 1/16 E-Revo VXL, and there are times that thing can easily get squirrely, but my sons car will hit the jump almost perfect every time, and jump over 24' compared to my Slash, that makes it about 12' off the same jump.

  • @robertrodriguez5558

The one thing i hate about Traxxas as a whole, is that support system. Once you buy and work on your first traxxas you'll almost never need them. But you'll support the support with every car, truck or part you'll ever buy. I love Traxxas but the vehicles are really about $50-$100.00 (depending on brushed or brushless) more than their actual worth (it's even worse with the inflation we are experiencing). As far as the shocks I'd just replace them with the Hard anodized big bores and RPM dual stage pistons right at the outset. With the new transmission in the VXL, I may have to get a new stampede 2wd though, THEY FINALLY ADDRESSED THE BIGGEST GLARING FAILURE OF THOSE TRUCKS, THE TRANSMISSION. Now they need bell cranks on the stampede (2wd) and it'll be perfect

I bought mine in Spring of 2019. I don't do jumps where the RC is flying 200+ scale feet in the air so the shocks have never failed me. A $10 metal spur gear would be appreciated rather than a $70 center differential upgrade, and the wheelie bar is WAY too flexible and allows the back of the Rustler to take a beating on less than perfect landings. Don't even try to rebuild the Velenion motor if a bearing goes; just replace the motor. There IS a way to easily fit/remove the body, but it would take 500+ words to explain.

The best thing traxxas can do is marketing and colors.

Did you have any heating issues running the badlands? I’m interested in the tires. I currently have a heatsink with a protek fan on esc and motor. Thanks for any advice.

OK, it's been a year or more since this video was put up. Is there a solution to the lousy body mount system?

Well I definitely hear what you're saying, I had the VXL stampede and I used to bash the hell out of that thing. I did replace every part with RPM now but I had fun with it.

Awesome insights, thanks for sharing. Have you tried swapping with one the esc 's from one other the others? Is Traxxas using the same esc's with different hardwired settings?

I don't have that throttle issue, comparing Rustler vs the Vorteks... the Rustler is way more linear then the spectrum...

Thinking of getting the maxx. If I do is the rustler too similar to get also? I will only have a budget for two cars and didn't know if it's too similar to the maxx and to look for something else. Thoughts?

hey Mark out of the revo 2.0 the wide maxx or the rustler 4x4 vxl which would you choose, I;m planning on getting one not sure which? as you know the revo and rustler use 3s lipos and the mini maxx uses 4s if i go revo i could use the same batts if i get a rustler down the road.but the revo is almost $300 more. but with the mini maxx and the 4s thats all they would be used for and I dont see myself ever affording a xmaxx. value your opinion thanks
