Ah, this reminds me: I need to have a text alert tone on my phone that's just Gregor saying "panga panga"
Jatoba, Bubinga, and Panga Panga. 😆
Panga panga!
I dig.
I'm doing that now. We got three 'panga pangas' in this video.
I was gonna comment on panga panga. You came first haha
GORGEOUS. Ibanez was always ahead of the game. Their basses are incredible and dollar for dollar even better.
I really appreciate the look on Lars' face when he finishes that beautiful, clear outro.
My wife scored me an used, older model of this bass. The neck is INSANE and the pickups friggin sing!
Maybe it's the finish 🤔

dark sound with a touch of bright highlights. just like the finish. :D
Ibanez has been killing it the last few years. I love the SDGR line. The neck just can't be beat in my opinion. Thanks for this review.
It's weird the fact that I can't stand Ibanez bass necks. They are too way thin for my taste.
@@esposoman before I played an Ibanez i thought that I preferred my Music Man. I still love them both, but the Ibanez neck is just so much faster. I think i might prefer the Ibanez neck for a 5 string and Music Man profile for a 4 string. Everyone has their preferences though.
The David Ellefson Jackson CBX IV has the perfect thickness neck, and most sleek feel out of all of the basses I've played. I have a Warwick, Ibanez and Fender precision and the Jackson beats them all by a long shot.
The outro cured all my worries and pain since my birth immediately, thanks Lars ;-)
I have an SR655 with a Nordstrand P/J pick up configuration. It is active but I choose to play it mostly in passive mode. I viewed this video with great interest as I get the same warmth and punch as you illustrate here. I always think it's a bit of shame that Ibanez don't give their basses actual names. The model I play is discontinued but there is an updated version with an added mid-eq switch, similar to the one on the SR1305SB. IMO, Ibanez basses, especially in this mid-range sector of the market, represent excellent value for money. I would be interested in seeing what an Ibanez P or J bass would turn out like - not that I've heard an rumours... I think Ibanez' manufacturing standards are first class.
I love it Ibanez is one my favorite brands! Great quality, and affordable Ibanez Rocks!
Lots of people forget how important the midrange is. I have this ol' Ibanez MC9240 LE which has a voice like character due to the resonant midrange.
You absolutely sold me on this bass and I could not be happier with the instrument. Much appreciated.
I have the SR605 with Nostrand big break pickups and the exact same bridge
I have the same SR605 and have been wondering what is the difference in price to something like the SR1305
Bass is super cool. LARS is an amazing and inspirational player. Always happy to listen to his fun lines.
Thanks so much, buddy!
I love this guitar. I love even more having Werner Herzog review it for me.
Thanks!
Jens Lehmann jest świetnym basistą. Fantastycznie obsługuje te wszystkie basy. Pozdrawiam z Polski👍🏻
Would have been cool to have a side by side sound comparison between this and the SR600 series with the same pickups. They definitely sound similar but this seems a little deeper
I wonder if those Ibanez licensed Big Breaks are simoly repacked/rebranded Big Splits or they have different coil wounds or pole pieces
I have the SR605 just different wood combinations
Lars has become an inspiration to be a better bassist
I know...I like to save his demos and use them as study pieces.
@@scotcampbell1069 Wow, thank you guys so much! Best of luck & success with your bassplaying! :-)
One of the best bassists I've ever heard.
Absolute respect.
@@andesneko wow, thank you very much, you definitely brought a smile on my face! atb, lars
Every bass with Nordstrand pickups "means business" 👍
Yet another awesome review I am definitely getting me one of these basses! Love Ibanez they truly have something for everyone in every price range!! Have a wonderful day.
I agree. Ibanez seems like they aren't afraid to branch out and try something different as well. Truly something for everyone.
Aw man that outro sound.....so sweet
Great video! These remind me of the original german made Warwick builds before the Rockbass china build split some years ago. Nice woods, woody tones, nice curves and nice playability.
I like the SoundGear design.
Even though I prefer a wider spacing, I don't find the SR's 16.5mm too much of a squeeze.
My backup 5-string is a 1993 SR1305PD with that nice Padauk body and the Warick style Bubinga /Wenge neck. Main 5 is a Modulus Q5.
Being so old it only has the J type pickups but they sound fine.
My main 5 is a Modulus Q5.
My fretless is an SR05 sporting EMGs with hum-cancelling coils sitting beneath them.
It was customised for Dave Pegg and defretted mid-US Jethro Tull tour by Ibanez 'cos Ian Anderson had just written a song with Steve Bailey and wanted it in the set for the 2nd half of the tour. So Dave needed a fretless and fast.
Quite apart from all it's Tull story though, it's a killer fretless and that's what really matters.
Been playing Ibanez for 14 years. The best. Now I wanna get that new BTB625EX
My profile pic is my SR1306 that I got in '93. It's a killer bass, and it was also was my workhorse for years. I had someone come up to the stage and offer me like 3k for it on the spot or something ridiculous like that. I didn't sell.
2:53 special thanks to elton john for the bass demo
I LOVE the Space Invaders t-shirt. Now I need to find one to buy.
What a lovely top on that bass
Your shirt is amazing! That's such a cool finish too.
I fu#@ing LOVE that bridge
I love hearing you say panga panga
Very good! I was in need of something like this in my day. thanks!
It's the typical bass that if you look at it, there's that desire to play. It must be very comfortable!
I have a Panga tree in my garden. It's covered in high gloss finish 🌴
I like the look of this one. I only wish they had a neck like a Warwick. I like the solid neck feel in my hands.
I just bought the 4 string version. Too bad I’m not a badass like Lars. But I have panga panga now.
I find some Ibanez basses like this, sound quite close to Fodera. Lucky us!
It sounds and looks awesome! Was that the bassline of Neundneunzig Luftballons? Perhaps it was an aural hallucination.
We had the same allucination.
hello, does the pickups make hum and noise since they are singles as I assume?.
Wow what an amazing looking bass. It gives it a old school look with a modern touch. I remember as a kid seeing cheap looking basses that had a nice body like this
Are the frets stainless or which material?
What’s the name of that outro or is it just improv cuz it’s amazing
Is it worth the double price or should I save money and get the Cort B4 ASRM?
Greg, I think you should look at the camera and cry for this bass, Ibanez should give it to u boy = )
Nah, 1 is enough 😉
Very impressed cool demo.
If you're showing a 5 string bass, please consider using the b string... not only once or twice.
Love my SR1400
COOL BASS GREGOR
I'm a year late to this video. Somehow I missed it. The bass is clearly awesome but why is absolutely nobody talking about Gregor's shirt?!
Seriously, that takes me straight back to my Atari 2600 days. 😎
Gotta luv that look!!!
Gregor (just out of shot - usually) Fris!
Just FYI-"The MR5S bridge has adjustable saddles for variable string spacing by +/- 1.5mm, answering every bassist’s specific string spacing needs." Straight from Ibanez website
That’s not entirely accurate. Yes, you can move the saddles within this range. But the distance to the next saddle still remains the same
I just put in an order for the 4 string whenever it comes in from sweetwater like 2 days ago 😂
Good morning, Gregor.
Lovely bass!!!
I have one question. I would love to buy myself the Darkglass Alpha Omega 500, however I can’t really find a great cabinet, in order to maintain the amps full power capabilities. It’s 500w at 4ohms if I am right. I cannot find a cabinet which would have those ratings.
So my question is: Which bass cabinet would be perfect for the AO 500? I would be happy if you gave me a couple of examples. Thanks!
My personal opinion would be something like a Gallien Krueger 410RBH. I believe you can get it in a 4ohm or 8ohm, and they sound amazing. I have the 8ohm handling 800 watts paired with its 115 buddy and its an incredible pair.
das ist mal nen wunderschöner ibanez. bin ja eigentlich fan von stingreys, aber der...puuuuh
Lars loves his job
I do indeed! :-)
@@LarsLehmannBassplayer You have made my day!
@@Barry101er glad i did - have a great weekend & atb, lars! :-)
How about 34” and b string?? Doest it work
Just get a 130 or bigger b
Good~
My next purchase
i hope Gregor Saw this comment. The bass looks Trippy with your shirt Combination
Beautiful looking Bass. Shame no Lefty versions
Nice sounds. Killer grooves. 👍
I've played a few Ibanez and they're good but not keepers, for me anyway....Plaease say 'Panga Panga' again, great part of the review..... :D
The shiny finish looks a bit shiny ,,,but the panga panga whatever that Is I can live with
How much does it weigh?
3970g
Ibanez has all the looks you want but it never loses the booty!
have a great day.
Ya Vol!
That shirt^^

Спасибо за русские субтитры
This bass reminds me of the Yamaha TRBX 305. you should review that bass as it is very similar to this Ibanez.
These knobs look surprisingly cheap compared to the rest of the bass.
Its true!
No, the pretty body wood doesn't make it sound better. It's pretty, and gets you to part with $1,400. If you do get paid bass work, and maybe put another higher end bass against the cost, sure. Could cost you very little money overall, and will look extra groovy on stage. Seems to me that all, or nearly all of the SR basses are workhorse chameleons that sound like a P-bass on the neck pickup solo'd.
I'm telling everyone, EVERYWHERE....WHAT YOU NEED FOR A 5 STRING IBANEZ SOUNDGEAR WITH 18MM STRING SPACING AND EVERYTHING AND MORE SHOWN,.. HERE IS THE IBANEZ SR2405W. Your search for perfection at a budget price point will end. I PROMISE YOU. Mine did....
Poza tym bas jest przereklamowany. Ibanez zmienia tylko kolory a to wszystko jest już w modelu SR 505.
Hahaha I loved the irony comment.. so true.
2 words are all you need to know...PANGA PANGA
Great review. Bass sounds great. BUT, 16.5 on the string spacing? Absolutely ridiculous. Bare minimum for me 17, and 18mm is ideal. Guess I won't be buying this bass.
Saddles are adjustable
@@robotusa88 hmm, intriguing. That would be a game changer.
Elton John )
Too bad the B string was not played...
It was several times!
Wasn’t there a joke about panga panga? Or did I just imagine it?
Please, say Panga Panga again!
those knobs look like cheap crap :( i love sr's but whats with those knobs :(
Knobs are the easiest thing to replace on an instrument
Ugh 16.5mm. That's what my fives have wish they were 19mm
The finish is pretty bad on this one, although it does sound pretty good.
I love Ibanez basses, but the narrow stringspacing is just not working for me. Since i started playing 6 string bass years ago, i had to say goodbye to Ibanez. I bought a Prestige SR5006 years ago, and i had to take it to a luthier and convert it from a 6 string to a 5 string with 18mm stringspacing. I realy wish that they would at least give people some options. If they made a wider stringspacing, then i would buy Ibanez again, even though i have 5 costum basses.
If you ever see a sound gear 5 string with a W at the end of the product number it means the bridge has 18mm spacing. The Adam Nitti signature is also 18mm. The single cutaway Soundgear basses also have 18mm spacing, even the 6. There are a few, and if you like Ibanez they are worth considering. Take care!
@@jonsidell3338 wow i did not know that..thank you. You just put a light at the end of the tunnel 👍
The finish is dope, but I'm not a fan of the sound. I've owned 3 Ibanez basses in my life and I've also sold 3 Ibanez basses. Just not my thing I guess.
Super compressed and midrangey. Nice looking but not a fan of the sound
Schwarzeneger bass coach
It looks like a wall painted by my grandmother.
bla bla bla, play it!
Too much $$$$
Panga panga
Ugh - hate that bridge style.
